I Thought I Dreamt This One Up, Too...
Yeah, I SAW THAT!
I tried to take the day off from being a Browns fan after the disastrous shut-out to Cincinnatti. It didn't work. You can't just wake up one morning and say, "You know what? I'm done. I am NOT a Browns fan anymore. I've had it with this team!"
Heh...you can say you've had it all you want but you KNOW you'll be there next Sunday. The Cleveland Browns will crawl home from Pittsburgh with their tails between their legs and may not win another game for the rest of the season, but we'll still be there.
So what was that about "gut check time?" As a fan we've got to do a little bit of that ourselves. All I know is that I really don't know who to blame anymore. This has finally gone beyond my understanding....

a. The Browns are 1-10 against AFC Central foes under Romeo Crennel. That is unfathomable. They've now lost to the Steelers by 4, 20, 41 and 13 points, to Cincinnati by 15, 30, 14 and 3. Oh-for-8 against the Steelers and Bengals. Ridiculous.
b. Thought of this while watching the Steelers' rout of the Browns: You know what worries me about Crennel's teams? Even with injuries, there's enough talent there not only to be better, but also to compete against the best teams in the league. They were absolutely non-competitive for most of that game the other night. How does a Crennel team allow a running game to steamroll it like that?

Note Bill Walsh was 2-14 his first year, but 6-10
his second year and won the Super Bowl the third year.
Unless Crennel wins out, he will have slipped backward. Unless he can do better than 6-10, there was no point in firing Davis.
