BREAKING NEWS: Browns Sign Jamal Lewis
According to ESPN, the Cleveland Browns have signed running back Jamal Lewis to a contract. Lewis, who has been with the division-rivaled Ravens the past several seasons, has not been too productive since he ran for 2,066 yards in 2003.
Lewis is only 27 years old, but injuries are definitely a major factor of whether or not he's able to produce anymore. If he somehow returns to his obvious form, then we picked up a steal. If he plays like he has the past few years, he may be no different than Reuben Droughns was last season.
I'll have more reaction and details tomorrow in regards to the signing and how it affects the draft and our backfield.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Browns Sign Jamal Lewis
After SanFran pledged to outbid him on any offer given to Clements, Savage reached a breaking point. After two years of doing everything he thought was right and then having terrible luck ruin the move, Savage had an epiphany. No matter what he did right, it would turn out wrong - so he had to do the opposite.
Signing a hated player past his prime that hasn't been productive for three years is a terrible move, in fact it's the exact opposite of what he should do. That, friends, is exactly why it was done. In the bizarro world that is Cleveland, signing Jamal Lewis and doing everything else that is widely acknowledged to be the last thing the Browns need will lead to a windfall of good fortune.
In the coming months, the Browns will offer an extension to RAC, trade for Randy Moss AND David Carr, and cut Sean Jones. John Elway we be brought on as President of Operations, and Butch Davis will be offered $5 million a year as a scouting consultant and PR rep. Charlie Frye will rise up once again, and deliver strike after strike as Zeus hurled lightning bolts from Olympus!
Super Bowl, here we come....

From a draft standpoint this has got to make quite a few teams worried. It no longer appears to every other team that Peterson is the obvious pick. As a result they have to be concerned that we could pick whoever is available from amongst Russell, Thomas, Quinn, Johnson or Peterson.
