Official Week 6 Sunday Discussion Thread
The Cleveland Browns don't have a bye again this week, but they aren't playing on Sunday either. Talk about all of today's action here, and feel free to discuss all of the rumors regarding TE Kellen Winslow.
At the moment, the NFL Network is reporting that Winslow is out and that backup Steve Heiden will make his first start of the season.
My favorite game of the day today? The Baltimore Ravens vs. the Indianapolis Colts on CBS at 1:00 p.m.

It sucks to have to root for Indy.

Here in Columbus, we get Bengals-Jets on CBS and Falcons-Bears on FOX. I’ll follow both games, but I’m actually more interested in the Falcons-Bears game. The Falcons have been surprisingly good so far this year, and I’d like to see them play against the Bears. Matt Ryan has done well as a rookie, but the Bears defense will give him a good test.
As for the Bengals, I’m sick of watching them and they suck. The Jets should destroy them (except Cincy just scored a defensive TD). Why are the Jets wearing their throwback Titans uniforms again — didn’t they just wear they last week? Those unis are UGLY.

I’ve got Indy-Bal on CBS, and Chi-Atl on FOX. Colts game is already exciting, because I still love Peyton Manning.
I hate the Jets’ throwback uniforms as well. It’s bad enough when they wear them once…

Matt Ryan is looking GOOD against this Bear’s D. Kyle Orton also looking very much like an NFL QB. Matt Forte is not helping him out right now, not helping my fantasy team either.
I have Denver/Jacksonville later.

Chicago is lucky that they’re only down 9-3. Atlanta dominated the first half but couldn’t get a TD.

Oh my god, I just saw the Dolphins run the wildcat formation again, this time eventually getting the ball to PENNINGTON to throw a 50+ yard touchdown.
I’ve never really been a Dolphins fan, but I wouldn’t mind seeing them on TV on a weekly basis. They are attempting the innovative plays many fans have been calling for teams to do for years.

I kept screaming to whatever D was going against the Dolphins’ Wildcat formation “THEY WILL NEVER PASS THE BALL TO PENNINGTON!!! DON’T EVEN COVER HIM!”
I was incorrect.

Yeah, that was a great play. I don’t know why other teams don’t try things like that. Most coaches are too afraid to be innovative because they’re worried that it might not work. But when you’re not moving the ball (such as the Browns so far), I don’t know why you wouldn’t put some wrinkles in the offense. The Browns should be using Cribbs more with trick plays.

The bonus with Cribbs is that, unlike Pennington, he is actually a threat to run a route as well.

(Also in response to rufio above):
The Ravens have looked awful, and I’m glad they were finally exposed for the type of team they are this season. Zero offense, and because of that, their defense can’t handle the load. I’m just surprised it took so long for them to receive a dose of reality.
I’ve been really impressed by Matt Ryan today as well.
Also, they switched to the Bengals/Jets game once the Colts/Ravens score got out of hand. Some entertaining ballgames today.

I was able to catch the end of the Texans/Dolphins game, where Shaub ran a QB sneak on 4th and goal to win the game. Then flipped to FOX to catch the end of the Bears/Falcons — the Bear went ahead by one with 17 seconds left, but the Falcons got a return to the 44 then a pass to the Chicago 30 to Michael Jenkins. That set up a 48-yard field goal with one second left! Elam made that, after missing one on the previous drive that would have sealed the victory.
I see also that the Vikings and Rams both won on last-second field goals. What an exciting day of football. I actually enjoy days like this where I don’t have to worry about the Browns and can just watch random games.

Also, Kellen Winslow was finally released from the hospital. However, that doesn’t mean he’s suddenly going to play or something.

Are there truth to rumors that it’s his testicles?
I wish we had Rucker available.

He also had pass interference on a key late play, I believe.

Arizona just ran a option shotgun play! Only went for 2 yards

The Cardinals secondary just did a very good job of impersonating the Browns secondary.

I wonder what our boy Rexx has to say about the Ravens today. I’m guessing he’s not on the Colts blog talking trash like he was here.
