Baltimore Beatdown: Ask the Ravens Blogger
Enough of the personal attacks that seem to become endless on the previous post. This post is just for the true fans that have any questions on the personal opinions of me, the Ravens blogger. Yes, I do think our team is better than yours and expect us to pull out a victory Sunday. I certainly expect that you feel the same way about your team. I'm not interested in taling trash, but am willing to answer any questions you may have about the game, from a Ravens' fan's perspective.
If you want to continue the bad blood, please go back to the other post. Here I'm trying to keep it civilized and if Chris prefers I stay off the site, he can tell me and I will oblige. I'm sorry and apologize for any comments you have found offensive, but I believe the true fans will return and add their thoughts and comments here to dissect the game. Feel free to visit Baltimore Beatdown and post your thoughts.
Thanks.

Creative playcalling helped the Ravens put up some points last week albeit against a week Raiders team. The offense has consistently been an issue since the Ravens inception. Do you see anything that indicates to you that the offense has the potential to allow the Ravens to do any sort of damage in the playoffs should they get there?
Team won't want to face us in the postseason...
…because defense wins championships. However, to think that this offense will do damage in the playoffs much less the reggular season is still a ways in the future. While Cam cameron has the tools to do some interesting things, at times, in the tougher games (Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Indy), he seemed to go way too conservative and reminded me of Brian Billick’s offense (yuk!). However, the offense is improving week by week, and we are probably not in the bottom two or three anymore (yea!).

Ravens players willingly admitted that they had “bounties” on several Steelers players that would have paid money for injury to said players. Given the barbarity of the action, do you think that the league should havetaken this more seriously or do you think it was handled correctly?
NFL did their job
The league has spoken with the Ravens and Suggs individually and made it clear that he was out of line. As if the NFL, refs and other teams need another reason to flag the Ravens for personal foul penalties! Suggs’ running of his mouth did not go over well here in Baltimore. While we don’t have any problem with going for it, we all know it happens on other teams and has been part of the locker room dealings forever, he was an idiot to make it public in that way.

I don’t think “we all know.” I think, as a matter of fact, that until Suggs ran his mouth, none of us knew. I was stunned that the NFL took no real action against the team or player.
he got baited into that question though. The man asked him if he had a bounty, suggs simply used part of the question in his answer. Didnt they use to teach you all that in HS when writing papers and stuff.
But honestly I think thats why the NFL didnt take any action. It wasnt like he was completely out of the blue with it.

It’s funny, I read the AFC North blog on ESPN.com by James Walker. Walker published in his weekly mailbag a question from Terrell Suggs himself complaining about how it went down
why am i not supposed to get that? I read the AFC North blog. I love it because it gives me unbiased opinions on my team and the rest of the division. then i head over to bmore beatdown for the biased version. LOL

Didnt [sic] they use [sic] to teach you all that in HS when writing papers and stuff. [sic]
I learned that right after they taught me about contractions, grammer, spelling, and punctuation.

as to you mr. doyle. Since when is it required of me to use proper punctuation and grammar on a blog? I’m in college, i have classes where they require that stuff. Sometimes you just want to be free and be yourself.
and please dont come at my college, i’ll take more offense to that than someone talking about the ravens… or even my city for that matter.

I’m sure that your inability to communicate with others won’t hamper you in your life after college, given what you’ve shown so far, all you’ll need to remember to do is ask, “Do you want fries with that?”

What can I say, when you’re right, you’re right. Atleast the Ravens are winning, gives me something to look forward to in life right?

First, let me be clear (wow I even sound like Obama right now):
I hate the Ravens. I think there are dirty football players. (I’m looking your way Hines Ward)
But, this I can’t fault Suggs for this at all, except for saying something that is usually kept in the locker room. If you don’t think this “bounty” stuff doesn’t happen in professional sports all the time, you are just foolish. Mike Golic and Mark Sleareth (sp?) talked about how common this is on ESPN radio. I’ve heard half a dozen former football players on TV and radio over the last week say that this is common place and Suggs was an idiot to say it into a microphone.
Is it right fwembt? I don’t know. I think it is probably innocent gambling. Basically, Golic argued that the logic is: “play really hard, hit really hard, and if you happen to hurt the guy we bet on, you win some cash.”
I’m not upset by these comments at all. But, it does alert me a little. If Suggs or Lewis hits a guy after the play or in an unsportsmanlike way, I may be a little quicker to say they are dirty. But, let’s not get carried away here, folks.

Do you feel that the injuries to the secondary in Baltimore will force Ryan to change his strategy on defense? Or will we still see the same heavy blitzing that has made the Baltimore defense something to fear?
Good question
Not too sure on this one. The past couple of games we’ve blitzed a lot because we knew we could get to the QB. Cleveland’s o-line is much better than that and if they keep us away from DA, we will be toasted. At the same time, if we don’t send the extra guys in the pass rush, his protection will hold up and the same problem exists. We’ll need to throw in a bunch of stunts so the o-line isn’t sure where the rush is coming from and drop others into coverage. Hopefully our front four can do damage on their own, but if not, it could be damaging to us.

Rexx is a good guy and better writer-
he works hard on these blogs..sorry for the bar room trash talk..see you in Texas. out.
Ravens Hon
The reason why the ravens will beat the browns this week is because the browns arent any good. They dont match up well against us for one main reason. Derek Anderson. Derek Anderson is a bum. You really should start working with your investment for the future. I dont know if quinn will be any good, and probably wont, but derek anderson is nowhere near close to being a good quarterback. You saw what happened already Derek Anderson setting up Winslow to get destroyed, ball pops out, picked off McCalister, Ed Reed take it to the house, and Rolle with the exclamation point. Expect alot more of this on sunday. When you throw interceptions to us you lose. Anderson throws 2 picks you lose, Anderson throws 1 You probably still lose.
If its Brown flush it down
Ending with a rhyme – clever.
(Next time you can brush up on employing apostrophes to create contractions and capitalization of proper nouns. It’s called English, and some people prefer to use it as means of communication.)
Still, it must have taken you hours to to work on that literary gem. Good job!
Unfortunately, the Herculean effort of finding a word to rhyme with “Brown” may have taken something away from your analysis.
DA has thrown 6 interceptions in 7 games this season. Three of those were in the game against the Ravens, and he hasn’t thrown any in the last 3 games. Flacco has, of course, thrown 7 int’s this season, so I suppose he’s 16% more of a bum than DA, because we all know that the more interceptions you throw, the worse of a QB you are – since Farve and Manning are currently 1st and 2nd in the AFC in that dubious category. So I’m certain you’re correct that interceptions will be the key to this game.
Thanks for playing.
Sorry about using so many big words. This link is offered to help the interlopers from Charm City understand this post.

Thanks.
By the way, here’s some more insightful analysis from Ravinsfan52. In addition to another reference to excrement when describing the Ravens’ opponent (which may explain a lot), the prediction of a Ravens win over the Colts was just a tad off.

I have a feeling that Doyle is one of those people, that you hate to have a conversation with.
I bet his days go something like that Harvard joke.
‘An Arkansan shows up at Harvard to study. He asks a lady, "Excuse me, where is the library at?’
Shocked, she replies, ’Don’t you know anything? Never end a sentence with a preposition!’
The Arkansan pauses for a moment and then says, ‘Okay… where is the library at, bitch?’"
In all honestly the grammar jokes will most likely get old, I’m sure you are happy that you take the time out to type up your replies in Microsoft Word and invoke spell check as well as a thesaurus. But that is no reason to slight the people who are too lazy to do so.

Most people know how to spell and punctuate so we don’t have to use Microsoft Word. We learn that in elementary school. Honestly, if you need Word to know when to capitalize letters, use commas and apostrophes, and spell simple words, then your education was awful and I feel very sorry for you.
I know it’s a blog, and you don’t have to write like it’s an college essay, but it’s not that hard to capitalize words and use punctuation. There’s a reason we write like that — it makes our words much easier to read.

Are you implying the lack of a question mark in my original comment which started Doyles rant on grammar, causes a loss in interpretation of the sentence?
My previous joke reins through here.

“reins” – kidneys
“reigns”- the dominion, sway, or influence of one resembling a monarch
Yeah, I see what you mean about spelling, grammar, and punctuation not being important – unless you want others to understand your point and don’t care if you look like a fool.

Feel free to ignore the inappropriate comments
on this post, be it from Ravens or Browns fans. I just want to stick to football questions and answers about this Sunday’s game.
On another note, I have recently heard that it appears that neither Chris McAlister and Samari Rolle will probably not go Sunday, which is not good news for one of these teams. What do you guys think of that and how it affects matchups in the secondary?
Rexx
I saw that Rolle is doubtful, but heard nothing on McAllister.
Now Donte Stallworth is officially listed as questionable. If he doesn’t go, it changes the entire dynamic of the passing game. I’m hoping that if this is the case, Chudzinski gets Josh Cribbs on the field for more snaps than normal.
You know Selig? Ombudsman.
Ravens Secondary Issues
Chris McAlister is out for Sunday (ouch, hear that Braylon?). Samari Rolle is listed as questionable and was wearing the red (no contact) jersey in practice yesterday, so I don’t expect him to play much if at all. That leaves us with Fabian Washington and Frank Walker as starting corners, which is a little scary to me, and should have Braylon, Dante’ and K2 drooling (even though Ray makes K2 drool with those hits anyway!). Fabian is pretty decent, but not as a #1 corner. Walker and our nickle back, Corey Ivy, suck and you should abandon the run and throw 40-50 times Sunday, sure you may have a pick or two, but it has to help move the ball in big chunks against this depleted secondary. Neither Miami nor Oakland exploited what the Colts were able to see when they ripped us. Hopefully, Romeo and his staff will stubbornly stay on the ground too much, putting you in third and long situations leading to TO’s. Doubtful, but I will still hope.
