Bill Cowher Rumor
Good news out of http://www.profootballtalk.com/
It reads that the Browns are pursuing Cowher and willing to pony up $8-$9 million per year to get him here. Of course this would mean handing over personnel decisions as well, and the end of the Savage era in Cleveland. If this means getting Cowher in here, then I am all for it. God would I love that guy on the sideline. We will see some fire for once!

No dude, you’re just being hyper-sensitive. In the list of terrible things to say to someone, posing the hypothetical “didn’t we already talk about this?” is pretty low. It wasn’t a personal barb at all – take it on good faith that no one here is out to make one person or another look bad – it will make your life a lot easier.

Thanks for the name-calling. Actually, of all the blogges I’ve met at LGT and DBN I think that I’m one of the nicer guys around, but that’s just my opinion, I could be wrong. You need to spend some time on LGT if you want to meet guys that are nasty.
The point is that we just had a FanPost and a long conversation about this only a week ago. Do we really need to talk about it again? My question to you is, did you not see the other FanPost about it? If not, you should look around before posting something redundant. If you did, why did you feel the need to post this again? What more can we possibly add?
At LGT, a post like this would be ripped to shreds for not being more observant of what’s already been posted, then deleted. I was just pointing out that we already talked about this so I didn’t know why you posted it. But feel free to call me whatever names you want.

I’m on the site daily and it was a simple oversight on that fanpost. But feel free to continue being a sarcastic prick. And you’re constantly getting on other people’s cases, so it doesn’t appear you are one of the nicer guys around, but I could be wrong.
I know the rumor has been swirling, but I’ve not seen it posted on a reputable site to this point. Again, that could just be me. I see you around on this site, and Fear the Sword, and you are one of the more knowledgable bloggers and I make a point to read your posts whenever I see them, but it was an honest mistake, so take it for what it is.

Thank you for the complement (while again calling me a prick). I wasn’t “jumping down your throat.” If you were on this site daily then I don’t know how you could have missed that post. It has 122 comments!!! That’s the most of any post on the sidebar (and possibly ever on this site — not sure). And it’s only 10 days old. If you’re here every day, how could you miss a post that everyone was posting on for a week?
Also, I don’t consider having discussions and/or disagreements with people “getting on other people’s cases” if that’s what you mean. That is why we all participate in this site and it’s why I enjoy it. It wouldn’t be any fun if we all agreed on everything.

That’s okay. No hard feelings.
Also, Roger, you know that if a repeat post like this was made on LGT there would be about 10 people within 5 minutes calling the person names and telling them to read the site before posting, so I don’t think I’ve done anything differently here. There just isn’t as much ‘policing’ done here about that kind of stuff. What I don’t like is that there are sometimes people who haven’t participated in our community who post something stupid then don’t come back to talk about it. There have also been people who make posts that just pimp their own site. These don’t happen often, but if they do I will call people out on that because I think posts and comments like that degrade the quality of this site. Chris does a great job with this site and I think we should all try to keep that quality high.

Uhhh, no. Maybe you just roll your eyes and ignore it. But people there jump all over posts or comments that don’t meet their standards. And many are excessively nasty about it, much more than anything I’ve ever said.
By the way, when I posted that one comment a few weeks ago responding to an idiotic poster, why didn’t you just “roll your eyes and ignore it”? Why did you have to attack me and accuse me of doing things that I’ve never done?

Well, I think this is a great place to discuss Browns football and I want to keep it that way. If we let random people stop by and make dumb posts then it degrades the quality of this site. And I got somewhat nasty to those Ravens guys that stopped by because all they wanted to do was trash the Browns and make dumb comments. That’s the only time I think I’ve ever been mean to someone on here. There are many people at LGT who act like much more of a jerk than I’ve ever been, and that’s often happened to me personally. So I don’t think I’ve said or done anything out of line here. And I’d like to know how you know what other people here think.
Also, you still haven’t apoligized for accusing me of criticizing people’s spelling when I’ve never done that (and I would never even think about doing that — I make spelling mistakes and typos all the time). I don’t like being accused of something I’ve never done, and when I ask you to back up your accusations you just ignored me. I think that’s rather rude.

I hate how you make people go round for round like this. You are being sensitive. I’m not offering you an apology for the following reasons: (I admit they’re from LGT, so it blended together):
I actually think the BIRD is worse….if you don’t know how the spell the name of a pitcher that’s been on the team for 3 years — and it’s FOUR letters — then you’re not much of a fan.
Really, Crazy, when is this going to stop? People use punctuation when writing because it makes our words easier to read.
How do I know what other’s think? I don’t, at all. But if you read up in this thread, there are two posters other than myself who commented on your post “ball-busting.”

High rep?
It’s mostly rumors that when proven true, Florio cheerleads about being the first major outlet to report it (and won’t let you forget about it for years). When he’s wrong, and it does happen, you either don’t hear about it again or it gets laughed off. He has obvious biases that I don’t care for.
I used to frequent the site until I realized what it was. Now, I visit once per year… the day that free agency begins. That’s the only day I see any worth in looking it up.

1. Maybe; I am ok with it but am not the one who should make the decision.
2. No amount is too much for the coach. The Browns should find the guy they want, and do what it takes to bring him in.
3. A legit LOLB/MLB, a WR as good as Joe J or Stallworth who isn’t injured, and an off-season for Braylon to clear his head is all we need to take this team to the next level. A legit 3rd CB could help, too. I could coach the team to the playoffs if we got those things.

Very much agree here. Our linebackers can’t run. They aren’t very athletic (as a unit) and they get torn apart when teams spread and shred. It was painful to see against Dallas, and just as painful against Denver.

If Cowher = Winston Wolf, then Lerner is obviously Marcellus Wallace, and BQ’s got to be Jimmy.
But would Winslow or Edwards be Jules? And who on the team is cool enough to be Vincent?
Probably the most pressing question is who would be Marvin (i.e. the “corpse in a car, minus a head”), Savage or Romeo?

To me, the interesting development is the timing of this rumor. Savage just stuck his foot in his mouth and cost the team some PR. Now, perhaps Lerner is thinking that handing control over to Cowher may be a good idea even if it does piss off Savage. So, that lends credibility to this rumor. Or should I have posted this on the former discussion?
