Browns Sign WR Donte Stallworth
According to Adam Schefter of the NFL Network, the Browns have signed WR Donte Stallworth to a deal. This came as somewhat of a surprise to me, because I heard earlier today that he was ready to visit Oakland.

Re: Browns Sign WR Donte Stallworth
Phil and Romeo are making this team even better every minute...I feel like this will be the only significant offensive signing this year.

Re: Browns Sign WR Donte Stallworth
so do u guys see any chance of us trading trvis wilson? maybe wilson and a few players to get back in an early round?
also, when did we get kevin kasper?

Re: Browns Sign WR Donte Stallworth
I don't think a team would even listen to us about a trade for him unless it involved swapping practice squad type players.
And, there aren't any players that we could trade right now that would get us back into the early round. The only way that'd happen is if we got rid of Anderson, Edwards, Winslow, or Wimbley, none of which we will do.
I think we signed Kasper about a week ago, along with some other guys, as a "practice team" team.

Re: Browns Sign WR Donte Stallworth
Folks were disussing this before some more info about the Rodgers trade has been coming out today. Looks like we aren't responsiable for his 1M dollar signing bonus. PFT is stating that the situation with his bonus is why the trade with the Bengles fell apart. If we aren't responsiable for his 1M then our situation might be even better.

Re: Browns Sign WR Donte Stallworth
If Edwards, Winslow, or Jurevicius missed a game last season, Tim Carter would've been the next go to guy. Now, it'll be Stallworth and/or Jurevicius as the other guy, which is a significant upgrade.

Re: Browns Sign WR Donte Stallworth
One thing I do like about Stallworth is that if you can play for Belichik, you can play for anybody. It means you know how to play team, how to be part of a system.
The defensive additions are more intriguing. I am not able to evaluate their impact.

Re: Browns Sign WR Donte Stallworth
If this is true, I like the Rogers trade even more. Bodden did not play well through many stretches, and if he wanted a raise, I am glad we got something for him.
This I wonder about. I thought "Big Baby" was going to be our NT.

Re: Browns Sign WR Donte Stallworth
Is it just me, or for the second year in a row, did the Ravens, Bengals, and Steelers basically do nothing in free agency while the Browns have been brilliant?

Re: Browns Sign WR Donte Stallworth
The Browns, for the second year in a row, have moved decisively and quickly. Props to Savage and Crennel. Here's to a chance for them to stay out of the Jets' trap from last year. Cheers.

Re: Browns Sign WR Donte Stallworth
He was a super talent coming out of Virginia. I think that he was misused in Arizona up until last year. If the price is right, he would be a great pick-up IMO.

Re: Browns Sign WR Donte Stallworth
A rush LB with 14 career sacks gets you 22 million guaranteed? I don't understand what some teams are thinking. Personally I am glad we did not pay out the nose for a player who has had one good year.

Re: Browns Sign WR Donte Stallworth
Stallworth gives us 3 playmakers at WR, 2 with outside speed and JJ as the tall posession receiver who will go over the middle with confidence, and -just as importantly- know where the first down marker is and run a route PAST it. Then do everything in his power to come down with the ball.
This move gives us, with Winslow, four legitimate threats to come down with the ball. A very serious threat when in a spread offense. Opens up the passing game even more. Even in a normal formation, the constant threat should open up more holes for J Lewis.
I gotta like the move, along with the less questioned moves to beef up the line. Hope they still have enough under the cap to sign a veteran DB and get more depth overall on the defense. And on a related note, has anyone heard from Gary Baxter?
