Re: Browns Official 2008-2009 Schedule
I feel odd anticipating the schedule release more than the draft...

Re: Browns Official 2008-2009 Schedule
I think 3 Monday night games is the most.   It seems we got all the Mondays that they usually give to the packers

Re: Browns Official 2008-2009 Schedule
Good point. I wonder if our schedule would've been different had Favre not retired.

Re: Browns Official 2008-2009 Schedule
This schedule will be a good test to see how good we really are.

Re: Browns Official 2008-2009 Schedule
Brutal schedule....

The only consolation is that Pittsburgh has an even more difficult schedule than we do.

Per ESPN, the PATRIOTS have the easierst schedule based on opponents 2007 record! Guess the Dolphins and Jets do skew that a bit. Still BS though....

Anyway, if we go 10-6 again this year it will be a big accomplishment. We would go into the playoffs as a tough, battle tested team IMO.

Re: Browns Official 2008-2009 Schedule
This is funny...look at the Patriots' start to the season:

Week 1: Kansas City vs. New England
Week 2: New England vs. New York Jets
Week 3: Miami vs. New England
Week 4: Bye
Week 5: New England vs. San Francisco

Then after that, they actually have to start trying.

Re: Browns Official 2008-2009 Schedule
Not that we'd ever find out, but curious if the early bye is further "punishment" for Spygate.

Goodness, we're all over primetime.

Our toughest games, especially early, are at home.

I am in self-exile over at LGT, so I am going to spend more time reading stuff here if that is okay.

Re: Browns Official 2008-2009 Schedule
By all means, milk the only bit of exciting information we've had since about a month ago (and, the only exciting stuff we will have for the next month or so, presumably).

Re: Browns Official 2008-2009 Schedule
Honestly... this is just what LGT needed today.  Exciting news from elsewhere in the Cleveland sports spectrum.

And the added bonus for me... ticket applications for NCAA Men's 1st and 2nd round games at UD Arena for 2009 are now online.

It's turned out to be a decent day after all.

Re: Browns Official 2008-2009 Schedule
Baltimore Ravens
Denver Broncos
at Buffalo Bills
Houston Texans

^^ That's definitely the projected "easy" stretch of our schedule, from Week 9 to Week 12. Good teams are supposed to be in their prime around that time, so that'll be our "must-take-advantage-of" stretch.

You will be in for a rude awakening

facing the Denver Broncos. Especially when you find out that Derek Anderson is a one year wonder like Rex Grossman. It’s okay though, I have Cleveland as a gimmie win for my Broncos next year. ;)

Re: Browns Official 2008-2009 Schedule
That schedule is absolutely hands-down brutal. Yikes.

3 MNF games with a young quarterback does not sound like a good recipe for me.

Re: Browns Official 2008-2009 Schedule
9 or 10 wins would take the division this year. tought schedule all around, a little worse for the steelers but i aint loosing any sleep over that LOL.

Re: Browns Official 2008-2009 Schedule
Don't know how draining/important "road trips" are in the NFL, but the Browns don't have to cross the Mississippi.

Did Denver move out of Colorado?

Re: Dallas too?
Do you not understand what that cursive "a" with that circles itself stands for?

Re: Dallas too?
the lack of the word "at" means the game is in Cleveland.

Re: Browns Official 2008-2009 Schedule
Is it just me, or is really off that we play a game on a Thu nite against Den, then don't play again until the following Monday at Buffalo?

I don't really recall a team ever having that happen before.

Because now we have a short week leading up to the Denver game, a long break until the Buffalo game (close to almost a bye in length), and then another short week to prep for the home game against Houston.

I mean a road trip to Buffalo is pretty short of course, but it just seems odd to me.

Re: Browns Official 2008-2009 Schedule
I'd have to go back, but I seem to recall somebody having the same Thursday Night/Monday Night back-to-back schedule last season.

(5 minutes later)

And, I am correct: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Denver_Broncos_season#Schedule

The Broncos faced the Texans on 12/13/07 (Thursday Night Football), and their next game was against the Chargers on 12/24/07 (Monday Night Football).

I completely agree though -- it seems really off to have that type of scheduling. Hell, with all the prime time games we have that aren't on Sunday this year (4 games), it's going to feel like we have five BYE weeks during the regular season in a way. Adjustment time.

Re: Browns Official 2008-2009 Schedule
Also Chicago, playing Thursday night, Dec. 6 and next on Monday night, Dec. 17.

I noticed this last year, but it's interesting considering the topic:  both Dallas and Green Bay played on Thanksgiving, but then had a typical 6 days between games as they faced off the following Thursday night.

Re: Browns Official 2008-2009 Schedule
Wow. I'm ecstatic. Finally, a little dose of respect. Of course now we have to shine in the spotlight or they'll yank it from us.

I find the choice of the Bills game for a monday nighter to be odd though. I was kinda hoping we'd play the Indianapolis "We dont even try to win in Week 17" Colts on a monday night. Oh well.

Browns Pride, yo.

Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.

Re: Browns Official 2008-2009 Schedule
Re: the Buffalo MNF game.

Generally, I think fans like having their team on MNF, and it might be a nod to the Buffalo fans since they're losing a home game to Canada.  It's possible that they matched it up with the Browns in an effort to make it a more competitive game, rather than giving them a MNF game vs. the Patriots or Chargers, for example.

Re: Browns Official 2008-2009 Schedule
I would've liked the Colts too in prime time (no chance for MNF, but maybe it can still happen with FLEX on SNF). But, the "Colts vs. Pats" type of games will get more hype over what others would consider probably unfair illwill anyday of the week.

Re: Browns Official 2008-2009 Schedule
Oh I'm sure others do consider unfair ill will. Hell, I think its probably unfair. And yet, the ill will persists in my mind.
