Favre Dealt to Jets
Normally I would have posted this as a FanShot, but since we are playing the Jets today ...... Fox Sports link.
I doubt he'll get in the game of course, he doesn't even know all of the coaches names, let alone his new teammates or plays.
It will be weird to see him in a different shade of green though on the sideline.

Wow, and I thought he was a done deal to the Buccaneers.
Well, the Jets vs. Patriots games will at least be a whole lot more exciting this year :p No way Clemons or Pennington overtake Favre.

I heard today that the Jets were releasing Pennington—you’d think they could get at least a low round draft pick for him. Someone on ESPN this morning said that the Vikings should try to get him. That would be funny if, after the Packers didn’t want Favre going there, the Vikings get Pennington because the Packers traded Favre to the Jets and then he leads Minnesota to a NFC North championship over the Packers. (I hope that sentence made sense)
Anyways, too bad this didn’t happen a week ago because we could see Favre against the Browns tonight. If the Jets are trading/releasing Pennington then I’d assume he wouldn’t play tonight.

Pennington would be a slight upgrade over Tarvaris Jackson, probably because anyone would be. However, I think it’d be a bad signing if they planned on starting him. If Minnesota is going to have mediocrity at QB, they at least need the same guy in their every game. With Pennington, I’d imagine him getting injured in Week 6, and then forcing Jackson, who could’ve really used six weeks worth of reps to build a rhythm, getting off to a slow start.
I still like Favre; not going to change because of all this (doesn’t mean I agree with how it was handled, but I’m still a fan). I definitely would’ve enjoyed seeing him against our secondary in the preseason…would’ve been a better test than Kellen Clemons probably.

If Pennington isn’t playing tonight then is Kellen Clemens going to play the whole game? Who do the Jets have behind Clemens on the depth chart?

Current depth chart at nfl.com has Clemens as starter with Pennington (soon to be released) as the backup and Brett Ratliff (2nd year guy from Utah) and E. Ainge (rookie from Tennessee) as the 3 and 4. I would expect to see Clemens for a quarter and Ratliff and Ainge for the rest of tonite’s game.

Plus they have Brad Smith, a WR who took snaps at QB last season.

Funny story about Brad Smith (my real name).
Brad Smith (football player) is from Youngstown and went to Missouri where he gained some national fame playing QB. I went to college at Youngstown State (graduated about 7 years ago). Anyways, my college roommate (Luke) was somewhere in a bar talking with a guy. Luke mentioned he was from Youngstown and they guy asked if he knew Brad Smith. He said “yeah, he was my rommate in college” and he wondered how the heck this guy knew me. He soon realized that the guy was talking about Brad Smith, Missouri QB, not me.

I don't think its gonna work
Favre to the Bucs made sense. But the Jets? New conference, with cities and teams and defenses he’s unused to, with a complicated offense he has to learn in a month and a local media that wont kiss his ass like Green bay’s did that knows New York wasn’t his first choice?
high potential for train wreck

This double sucks
Now we will have to listen to some extar commentary about the Farve situation. Hopefully not, but probably…
Also I don’t want a bad Jets team to be anywhere near a wild card spot we may potentially need!!!

BRET FARR VEA AA! REMEMBER THAT MOVIE BUFFS
Do you remember the hype when Joe Montana went to the Chiefs? Well, I am not a fortune teller but I see the same future for Farve. He will be consistenly in-consistent and very “Bubby Brister esque!” I really do feel that Bret Farve will be in the hall of fame and is one of the best quarterbacks this game has ever seen, but can he rebuild with a struggling team in a tough division? I will have to research his contract. What did he sign for? Was it a year or four, five, or the latter? I would not tough talk qbout Chad Pennington. Wherever he ends up I see him a solid number two guy that can and has made a difference. But I digress..

Pennington look to be the starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins.
Favre could very well struggle, but I’m projecting him to have a fair season. Maybe not Pro Bowl status, but definitely something better than Pennington and/or Clemons would’ve offered.
