Big Ben Better Duck... Steeler O Line

I watched that Houston game last week with the Steelers. Houston got consistent pressure on passing downs but they could not stop the run at all.

I know the Browns defense didn't perform well last week, but the reality is that our offense kept them out on the field for 10 more minutes than the Dallas D was.

Despite that, Rogers looked good and Wimbley was consistently assigned to pass coverage. Especially after Whitten went crazy. They really didn't get lit up until late in the game on the ground.

Romo still got his chin busted up, that was the kind of hit that can finish a season a lot of the time. The Barbarian left with bruised ribs in Game 1.

They just got worn down by a HUGE offensive line. After watching that game for a thrid time I wouldn't be surprised if Dallas managed to finish 14-2 in the NFC East. That's saying something.

When Romeo chose to kick that field goal I was actually happy. I knew the game was over. I knew there was no reason to risk injuries. Get this thing over quickly, why risk anything else when scoring tie breakers are going to come into play at the end of the year?

This week is different, there's blood in the water.

consistent pressure?

I’m not sure what game you were watching. There was a few pressures, but the pocket was formed well enough that it was easily side-stepped by Big Ben. Two sacks, one which was actually the results of a blown play by the Texans (they accidentally sent two blitzers through a gap instead of one—yes it worked, but it was a mistake, only one was supposed to come). Steelers O-line certainly isn’t great, not even top 10 in the league, but they looked decent in pass pro so far, and they are beasts in run blocking.

How do you know they only meant to send one blitzer through the gap?

blood in the water?

really? steelers are coming off a dominating win and the brownies are coming off a really awful loss. how do you figure the steelers are in jeopardy based on what happened in those two games?

You’re clearly only looking at box scores — we’re looking at the pieces of the puzzle with variability on gameday.

come on, pok...

you seem like a pretty level headed guy – you’re really saying that looking at this match up, given the two teams overall performances, and factoring in the injuries to the brownies, you like cleveland? i know you’re a fan; completely understandable, but put that aside for a sec and look at it objectively. you still think the brownies have the advantage?

Hey Chris, and others, we shouldn’t feed the troll. He’s posted twice as much on here as he has on the Steelers website. Examples of some of his great contributions to DBN:

but you will be discouraged…..you will be. the inevitable awaits. welcome to 0 – 2 brownies.

GO STEELERS!!!
and in breaking news…
cleveland browns fans start hitting the panic button not even two weeks into the football season. in unrelated news scientists have discovered that water is really, really wet.

And that’s without prefacing any of his smack with actual insightful, considerate football talk.

I’m all for the cross-team abilities in SBN, and I’m fairly well known over at Behind the Steel Curtain. But I do it to learn more about a rival, their fans, and the game in general. This guy is clearly just trying to get a rise. He should be threatened with banning if he keeps it up. This isn’t cleveland.com

considerate?

the only thing that i’d consider around a brownies fan is breaking wind in their general direction. and, if you don’t want to have people expressing their ideas, thoughts, or opinions on your public blog……hey, here’s an idea geniuses…..don’t have a public blog. anybody here admitting that they are so p@#$whipped that they can’t take a little trash talk? i thought brownies fans were supposed to be blue collar tough. and kwoog, everyone knows you can’t get a rise from browns fans, they’ve been limp for a decade now. and don’t threaten to do it….do it or don’t do it. threats are for those that can’t actually do what they threaten.

GO STEELERS!!

from a Steelers fan to a Steelers fan

Unintelligent trash talk is for those other public blogs. I would like to think that SBNation is where we talk football with other passionate fans and have a good time doing it. It’s no fun to take an occasional peak over here at Dawgs by Nature and see random babblings that don’t contribute anything from someone representing the Steelers nation. Just my two cents, but there are other places that cater more toward your style of conversation.

Whoops, poor instead of pour. Well, poor is something that both pgh and cleveland do well. Hopefully we’ll work on that at some point…

trash talk

I’d rather just tell the Browns fan that his hope for consistent pressure on the QB will be shattered by their own decimated secondary coupled with Ben’s accuracy and the depth of the Steelers receivers.

lombardi

I have a open room at my house in Pittsburgh when you guys come here. If one of you plays your cards right I might invite you over. We could go to the stadium and visit the great hall. Where you actually can see a lombardi up close FIVE of them for that matter. It’s a shame you can’t find even ONE in ohio. Roses are red violets are blue byner is in the endzone but the ball is on the two.

Week 2 and SEASON Prediction

Face it…we suck! The supposed prolific Offense last year was against mediocre teams at best. Tonight the Steelers will dominate us. We are their little bitch and have been for what feels like forever!
How about a 35-6 shellacking? Kind of like Ohio State got raped by USC last night. Standby…Browns will get raped by the Steelers. I’ve already got the vaseline ready…so maybe it won’t hurt so much this time!
What would make you think we could beat them? Crennel is 0-6 against them and what I saw last week, hahahahahahahahahaha!!! I have awoke from my dreamworld fantasyland where the Browns make the playoffs and it won’t be this year.
Prediction…Browns go 5-11 and Crennel (Mr. Motivator Extraordinaire) gets fired this year!!!
We have the talent just not the right motivator…look for Cowher to be the 2009 Browns Head Coach!

In regard to that individual match-up, Rogers probably won actually.
