This isn't good. Shaun Smith has to be the man now.

From what I’ve seen and what Crennel said in his press conference today, I’m expecting Robaire to be IR’ed tomorrow. I guess they’d add Pittman from the Practice Squad but this is a 325-pound blow to their defensive line depth.

Anybody else starting to feel like this Baltimore game is going to be for all the marbles?

I think Shaun Smith is ready to break out. Depth was a plus at D-Line. We now miss this. Why hasn’t anyone called Rod Coleman? I’m sure he is looking for a job and it being after week one his salary would not be guaranteed.

The Baltimore game is less for all the marbles and a little more of a statement I feel. If we can come in and say “we are still better than last year, we just played two great teams and didn’t show it”, it will mean a lot for the team, especially the O. Theoretically, 1-3 is come-backable.

It WOULD allow us some cushion in the playoff race. If we can beat Cincy both times, split with Baltimore, and upset two teams we are certainly in the race. Winning this one would mean we wouldn’t have to get REALLY hot to end the year.

The term “injury” here is very very vague. If it ends up being ruptured or even partially torn, that could mean the end of the road for Robaire.

Hopefully this will not take away from what has been much better Dline play so far this season. Maybe when Corey Williams learns the defense it will improve another step.

It won’t become one of our two top problems on D either way. Those are:
1. Lack of pass rush at OLB
2. Mike Adams

We signed Santonio Thomas to take Robaire’s roster spot. I would interpret that as a vote of no-confidence in Melila Purcell. Thomas’ bio page from the Patriots has the most info of anything I saw.

Sorry, should have clarified. This happened because Robaire is now on the IR with a ruptured Achilles.

I definitely didn’t have any votes of any sort of confidence in Purcell. At least we got a big guy. Hopefully he knows how to at least lean on opposing blockers.
