Foxworth for a 7th

To Atlanta...

http://cbs4denver.com/broncos/Domonique.Foxworth.Broncos.2.808101.html

Why didn't we pull the trigger on this one?  Are we really that secure with a secondary that gave up so many yards in the pre-season that we weren't willing to trade for Foxworth?  I have been a staunch supporter of Phil Savage, but if he didn't even try to get Foxworth for such a dirt cheap price, then I cannot put any faith into him.  Our secondary is clearly out biggest weakness, and an instant upgrade for the price of a 7th-6th round pick seems like a perfect solution, especially for a high-character guy like Foxworth.

Didn’t we just give up our 7th to get Travis Daniels?

Didn’t mean that as a reply

Technically I believe only if Daniels was on the opening day roster. So, trade Daniels and a 7th to Denver for Foxworth, please? Or heck, a 6th for Foxworth would still have been a steal.

Foxworth

This is an unexcussable “miss” by Savage. This kid has been great (at least during preseason). Yes, we did give up our 7th already. Oh well, 5 more days!!

That would be “inexcusable.” Who knows what happened here? Certainly not you, nor any of us. Maybe Savage did miss it, maybe he got told no. We don’t know, so don’t act like you do. Sometimes, we don’t get the best guys at the cheapest price, this isn’t Madden.

I crave the approval of others.

Speaking of Madden...

I played a whole season, got in to the playoffs, traded DA, picked up a decent DB in the draft along with a LOLB. In the offseason, Eric Wright and Brandon McDonald morphed in to filthy, filthy CBs, Travis Wilson actually learned how to catch the ball, Brady Quinn took a lot of Myoplex and now has a crazy-strong arm, and Martin Rucker closed the gap between himself and K2 a great deal. Jamal Lewis didn’t suffer a decrease in attributes due to age yet, Joe Thomas blocks everyone, and Kamerion Wimbley was about to have a 90 speed rating.

Then something froze, and my franchise didn’t work anymore.

So who ever said that Dominique Foxworth was any good? I don’t understand this at all. I’ve read two independent sources that assess Foxworth at below replacement level and they are giving the Broncos a lot of credit for getting anything in return.

But he’s a corner!! That got traded!! To a team other than the Browns!!! Of course, he’s good because of that!

by Fundamentals on Sep 3, 2008 8:13 AM EDT up reply actions

but i’ve seen his interception returns on Sportscenter’s Top Ten Highlights brought to you by Budweiser, followed by Jay Mariotti and Skip Bayless discussing what chicks dig more, the interception or the homerun! Savage messed up!

You know Selig? Ombudsman.

We should trade every draft pick we have for every DB available. That will make our team the Super Bowl winner for sure!!

The best thing probably is to hit [Grady] 2nd -- Jay

I don't agree that this was an "inexcusable miss"

But Foxworth is probably better than whoever our dime CB is going to be. He is probably better than our nickel DB in some aspects of the position. He is not Champ Bailey. And even Champ Bailey can’t stop a passing attack by himself.

This wasn't a miss....

Foxy would have added depth to what the Browns currently have, but wasn’t going to be a huge upgrade. The problem Denver had with him was his passive play in coverage. The Broncos wanted him to be more aggressive and Foxy simply refused. He also believes in his head that he is a #1 or #2 CB, and wants paid like one.

Ah, why didn’t I think of asking the Guru himself to stop on over and check this post out sooner. Thanks for the insight, John.
