Ravens Back Up Rexx

Okay guys, now what!? This is the post you were not looking forward to and are now probably rolling your eyes, right? As former Arizona Cardinals coach Dennis Green said after his team lost to the Bears years ago, "...they were who we thought they were...!"

So there, the Ravens were who we Ravens fans thought they were, healthy this year after being decimated by injuries last year. At the same time, the Browns were also who we thought they were, not the darlings of the league after a fluke of a 2007 season, when they overachieved and snuck up on teams that underestimated them. Now they are in a similar position as the Ravens were last year, hurting with injuries and getting smacked around by teams in a season that may be over only three games into it.

While I actually predicted the Browns would score more points in the game, the Ravens so-called "aging" defense, led by the guy you called "old" (Ray Lewis) totally dominated the Browns. Gee, I wonder if Winslow got the license plate of that "old" truck that flattened him, popping the ball up into the air for an easy interception that led to the tying score at the time. Gee, I wonder if Derek Anderson's eyes could have been any more locked onto his receiver when Ravens safety Ed Reed read them like a book and never broke stride in picking him off and taking it in for six in the key play in the third quarter to put the Ravens comfortably in the lead.

Now we are 2-0, with both wins in division, and the Browns are 0-3 with two losses in the division. Two teams, going in separate directions. For some reason, after being constantly blasted on this site as well as on my postings, I strangely do not feel bad for your team in the very least. Now I guess we're hear all the sour grapes comments and how you'll get us back when we come there later this season. Sorry, but for now, I'm going to gloat and be proud of my team, after we suffered so much last year.

Say 'Hi' to Cincy!

Well, I hope that you feel better about yourself now that your football team has beaten our football team. I’m glad that you took the time to come here and gloat to Browns fans that your football team is better than ours. That certainly proves that you know much more about football than any of us here.

I’m sure that the key to the game was, what did you call it, Ray Lewis’ supreme “motivational” skills. I’m sure that if he wasn’t doing his crazy dances and screaming on the sidelines, the rest of the team wouldn’t care at all about the game and wouldn’t try very hard. His motivational skills must be better than anyone on the Browns. Maybe if we had more players screaming on the sidelines and acting crazy before the game starts, we would win.

This win definately proves that the Ravens are a great team. They’ll probably win the Super Bowl this year, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they won, like, 5 in a row. That would really make you feel better about yourself, wouldn’t it?

I like how you put your name as your signature. Just to let everyone know who you are, so they can see your name twice at the bottom of your post. I think that says all we need to know about you.

Dude...

I thought this is what SBN is for.

No, it is for talking about your team and having intelligent discussions about football. I never go to other team’s sites to bash their team and gloat about a win like you guys are doing. How is that being classy?

The funny thing is that if we had not let Anderson throw a single pass the entire second half, and just ran the ball, we probably would’ve won the game.

“At the same time, the Browns were also who we thought they were, not the darlings of the league after a fluke of a 2007 season.”
“Now they are in a similar position as the Ravens were last year, hurting with injuries and getting smacked around by teams in a season that may be over only three games into it.”

And, you can’t justifiably make the first statement if you yourself admit that we’re decimated by injuries.

No comparison...

…in the amount and significance of injuries between the Ravens last year and the Browns this season. Besides, the Ravens defense was supposed to be very good, when there were no such expectations of the same from the Browns.

Rexx

by Rexx on Sep 22, 2008 2:07 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The Browns offense was supposed to be good. There were plenty of expectations for that. We have lost our #2, #3, and #4 WR, 3 of our top 8 O-lineman (including our best all around lineman). Did the Ravens have more injuries to their D than that last year? maybe, but that doesn’t make your second point Chris quoted fit any better than thei second. The Browns were projected to beat the Ravens at the start of the season. They didn’t. Why is this? You say because the Browns weren’t that good to begin with. Then you say that it is because the Browns were injured. And you compared them to the Ravens of last year, not Chris. You make no sense and your “trash talk” is not productive, interesting, or even provacative. Go away.

by DaytonDogg on Sep 22, 2008 2:41 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hahaha — you’ve been talking all along about how everyone was hyping the Browns and thought they would be great. Now you’re saying that the Browns weren’t supposed to be good?!? You are contradicting yourself. Get out of here now. You make yourself look less intelligent every time you post something.

The best thing probably is to hit [Grady] 2nd -- Jay

by Buckeye Brad on Sep 22, 2008 5:32 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

My opinion is just that.

It’s my opinion. Deal w/ it. When I say theat the Browns were over-rated, I speak for myself and not the national media, although that would be cool. I never said I tought the Browns offense was not supposed to be good, I said their defense was never mentioned as good. But since you brought it up, yes I think the injuries to the Ravens defense last year was much worse than the injuries to the Browns offense this season. You guys still have your starting QB, RB, #1 WR and TE. We lost our #1 pass rusher, our #2 pass rsuer to free agency, our All Pro safety and BOTH our starting CB’s. Anyone who knows how tough it is to replace starters know these defensive injuries are more critical than those. I promise to go away as long as you promise to stop the personal, low class attacks regardless of my so-called trash talking opinions.

Hey its the NFL, injuries happen, Free agents leaving teams happen. I have no excuses for the Browns, they just aren’t any good this year. They were an average team last year.
So settle down, your wonderful Ravens are 2-0, and haven’t played a team yet. Relax Rexx, your 6-10 year is coming.

You can’t argue “fluke year” while comparing the Browns to a supposedly good team who “rebounded” this year.

Either we are actually good and 0-3 is the fluke, or we aren’t and last year was the fluke, you can’t have both.

by rufio on Sep 26, 2008 4:28 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Great post!

It’s hard to admit that you were on a band-wagon. I think that most NFL fans (especially long-time Cleveland fans) really bought the “Cleveland is an elite team” band-wagon. I even heard Jamie Dukes pick Cleveland to win the Superbowl. Maybe it’s because they make a good Madden team. Maybe it’s because Cleveland has been in search of a winning sports team for so long, and when the smallest glimpse of success appeared, everyone bought it and hyped it to no end.

Either way, I saw this coming. Now before I get flamed for saying that let me just say that it is easier to see other teams objectively when they are rivals. In fact, I have often tried to see the Ravens like their rivals see them, and I purposefully try not to get involved in hype. This doesn’t make me any better; I’m just explaining my position.

Finally, the reason why Rexx and I are posting here is because we heard so much crap about the Browns and trash against the Ravens during last off-season that it feels good to see other fans having to eat their words. I cannot begin to count how many Browns fans have talked trash since last season. So for that reason, I don’t feel bad for “gloating.” You guys had it coming.

We do suck. But don’t let it go to your head. You have beaten 2 teams who have a combined record of
0-6. The Ravens, Bengals and Browns could all end up 5-11 when all is said and done. This is your day, so celebrate the win. Celebrate it on your own site.

Nobody on this site was picking the Browns to go to the Super Bowl. Most people were picking records between 10-6 and 7-9 and either missing or barely making the playoffs. I’m sorry if you heard trash from other Browns fans, but go take your rage to them, not to us.

For someone who doesn’t purposely get involved in the hype, you’ve sure done a lot of gloating here. Go crow on your own site. Justify your gloating however you want. We’re down. Kick us some more. Your vaunted Ray Lewis would kick us while we’re down. As much as he felt he could get away with. And then maybe some more.

If you go gloating on another team’s site. go take your objectivity and throw it in the back in the bay from which you dredged it.

You’re never going to get anything but hatred from Browns fans. You stole our team. You can all go rot.

Oh no, you just didn't go there!

Stole your team!? What a joke. Don’t even compare what Bob Irsay did to Baltimore with what Modell did to Cleveland. Modell was a great owner in every aspect, prior to leaving Cleveland, helping develop the league and start Monday Night Football. Irsay snuck out of the city in the middle of the night after promising in a drunken interview he wasn’t moving the team. Baltimore tried to get a new franchise when Paul Tagliabue ripped out our hearts by giving them to Carolina and Jacksonville and telling us to build a museum instead. When it was obvious the league was stonewalling us, we only took what was offered when your Mayor White refused to build a new stadium when Modell complained he couldn’t stay w/o one. We waited over 12 years, lost our name and colors while your sat for two years and Modell was classy enough to leave the name and colors without putting up a fight. It’s just too bad your city’s bitterness will keep a guy who rightfully belongs in the Hall of Fame from not getting in, as he is an old, sick man and deserves better from the city and the league. Move on, we did, just stop regurgitating it without expecting a response to that BS!

That’s not even the best part of his reply. The best part is where he claims that Art Modell is “classy.” The treatment that Art Modell is getting from Cleveland is one he bought and paid for himself with the 30 pieces of silver he took from Baltimore. You’ll get very little sympathy for Art Modell here, buddy.
