Gruden, Bruce Allen both canned in Tampa Bay
So add another potential GM to the mix in Allen, who I thought did a pretty good job. I hope Lerner adds him to his list of candidates.
Anyone bummed by the fact we could have brought Gruden in instead of Mangini? I know he runs a West Coast offense, but he's let his DC do what they want with the D. I liked Kiffin's D (at least in the earlier seasons).

I would have loved Gruden here. As FO pointed out, the timing of this is curious with some of the other open positions having been already filled.
You know Selig? Ombudsman.

This is certainly surprising, especially them waiting this long after their season was over. I think Lerner should definately bring in Allen for an interview as a backup plan if Kokinis stays in Baltimore. I’ll bet some team, like the Jets, will hire Gruden this year.

They have to have someone lined up already. You don’t let go of John Gruden if you don’t.

makes you wonder who that could be, though. you figure it has to be a big name, no? i’m not sure shanahan is an upgrade over gruden at this point, and unless something pretty serious has changed, i can’t see holmgren, cowher or dungy stepping into that role. is marty a better option than gruden?
i have no idea if he’s the guy, but it would have been nice for the browns to at least have had the chance to speak with gruden. allen’s gotta be on the GM list.

Time for a new coach and GM
It’s not to late to dump Mangini and bring on Gruden and Allen

Looks like the Bucs are promoting from within; defensive coordinator Raheem Morris as head coach and long-time personnel man Mark Dominik as GM. Morris is an unkown but evidently he recieved rave reviews from players and other coaches, and the Bucs are hoping that he can do what John Harbaugh and Mike Smith have done to their teams. So it looks like they’re not going after any of the big-name coaches like we assumed they would.
