RB James Davis Placed on IR, Out for Season
You can forget about developing RB James Davis this season. The Cleveland Browns placed the rookie running back on the injured reserve, ending his season before the start of Week 4. Taking Davis' roster spot is RB Chris Jennings, who was promoted from the team's practice squad. Jennings had an impressive fourth preseason game, but is generally untested at the NFL level beyond that.
The extent of what Davis' injury was is not known at this point, including whether or not it had to do with his one-car accident earlier in the season. Davis' rookie season will end with the following line: 9 carries, 15 yards. 4 catches, 5 yards.
With Jamal Lewis doubtful for this Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Jerome Harrison is likely to get the start again, with Jennings serving as the backup.

JAMES DAVIS
Wow!, I feel like Lucy just moved the ball on me again.
Eh…
I’d be more upset had he actually done anything this year. If nothing else this means more carries for Harrison.
This really sucks. The only thing we have to look forwad to this season is getting a look at young guys and building for the future, and Davis could possibly be one of those players. He looked good at time in the preseason but that doesn’t always translate to the regular season, so we really don’t know what we have in him. Davis was one of the bright spots on this team for me, so this is really bad. Not so much for winning or losing games but evaluating our players for next year.
I know a few people got all excited about Chris Jennings running well in the fourth preseason game and expected our running game to look much better this year, but I think our three games so far show how meaningless the preseason is. I’ll be very surprised if Jennings does anything productive for us this season. We’ll have to hope for some big plays from Harrison.
