Are you freaking serious? I know I didn’t care if we let him go, but there is now am empty feeling in my stomach. I DIDN’T WANT IT TO END LIKE THIS!

And let’s try heart, not stomach. I was hungry as I wrote this.

Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer has details on the players the Browns acquired in exchange for Edwards. The haul includes: two draft picks WR Chansi Stuckey and linebacker Jason Trusnick.

Note that Edwards may still get suspended over “the incident” from the other night. So now we are the Cleveland Jowns?

I like this move. Taking decisive action in a situation like this is a good thing. Wonder what we got for him? One thing I’m not going to miss is the ball careening off his chest.

Trusnik was undrafted as far as I can find out….
Stuckey was a 7th round pick in the 2007 draft.

Stuckey is proven. I’m fine with that pick.

Proven to be Mediocre at best

Mortensen also reports via Twitter that all of those fines we have been hearing about were on Braylon Edwards.

So we get out of this scott free? Awesome.

It’s funny. The comment you made about trading Edwards at his low came to fruition.
by SpecialBrownie on Oct 7, 2009 8:44 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
doesn’t mean his value couldn’t have gone lower.

How so? It was actually pretty low.
by SpecialBrownie on Oct 7, 2009 8:51 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I guess a suspension would have made it lower.
by Roger Dorn on Oct 7, 2009 8:52 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
People didn’t want to trade him in the offseason because his value was at his “lowest”. Well, it was lower after week 4 of the ’09 season.
the “lowest” value can only be determined in hindsight, not at the present time.

great point. This might be the lowest value in the last couple years for him, but it might be the highest his value would between now and the end of his contract.

My guess on the picks is something like a 2 and 4.
by Roger Dorn on Oct 7, 2009 8:44 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I don’t know. I’d think a 2nd and 3rd. Or a 2nd this year and a 2nd next year.
by SpecialBrownie on Oct 7, 2009 8:46 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I can’t see that. Two players are already included. I’m guessing a 3/4 and a 5/6. Pick one high and one low of those, in my mind.

I am trying to be hopeful seeing what the Cowboys gave up for Roy Williams last year who was also struggling.
by Roger Dorn on Oct 7, 2009 8:49 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I agree. I think the Jets would’ve stayed high regardless.
by SpecialBrownie on Oct 7, 2009 8:51 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
3rd and 5th are the picks according to Schefter now.
by Fundamentals on Oct 7, 2009 8:55 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
It’s sad though, the last memory we have of Braylon is him trying to pop Simms cap off.
by SpecialBrownie on Oct 7, 2009 8:48 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Peter King saying neither pick is higher than a 3rd….
by Roger Dorn on Oct 7, 2009 8:55 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
That’s extremely dissapointing.
by SpecialBrownie on Oct 7, 2009 8:57 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
A 3rd would be good. We got two players anyway.
I’m not sure about Trusnik though. I’ve read in passing that he was a key special teams player. Aren’t we set there already?
by skipkirk on Oct 7, 2009 9:18 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Kind of, we could use another sure tackler on ST. He forced a key fumble for the Jets against the Titans earlier this year.

Lawson? Cribbs? Costanzo? Ventrone? thats what those guys are for. Enough ST crap

Ideally we would acquire more superstars, but unfortunately you don’t get one in every acquisition. Building a team doesn’t happen overnight.

Two useful guys and two picks (3rd and a 5th). Let’s just hope the current front office does a good job getting talent out of those draft picks.
by APV on Oct 7, 2009 9:38 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I like Stuckey think he is a talented player that is still developing.
by Roger Dorn on Oct 7, 2009 9:54 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
His stats for 2009 are already higher then Braylon’s. We really can’t lose. MOMASS FOR #1!
by SpecialBrownie on Oct 7, 2009 10:12 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Robiskie developing would be huge, really need him to come through.
by Roger Dorn on Oct 7, 2009 10:26 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Like some have already said, without Edwards to draw the defense MoMass at #1 will now get the double coverages.
by Simmsinns on Oct 7, 2009 10:50 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
i don’t think any Browns receiver is going to draw double coverage now.
have fun, Jerome Harrison.

Good point. We’ll enjoy a lot more man to man all out blitz coverages now.
by Simmsinns on Oct 7, 2009 10:54 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I wanted Edwards traded only if we could get fair value.
We didn’t. Our team is now worse off.
Very disappointing.
by Simmsinns on Oct 7, 2009 10:44 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
So, it sounds like a 3rd, 5th, Stuckey, Trusnik.
Very interesting. Doesn’t sound like enough, but it also seems possible that Edwards’ off-field issues might have been deeper than we thought.
by Ryan Kelsey on Oct 7, 2009 10:55 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Actually, Grossi says the Jets don’t have their 3rd round pick, so something isn’t right.
by Ryan Kelsey on Oct 7, 2009 10:57 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
4th and 5th possibly? Extremely disappointing.
Sounds like a Mangini Deal!
by Simmsinns on Oct 7, 2009 11:08 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
So Grossi says that the Jets have a previous trade that could cost them their 3rd or 4th.
by Ryan Kelsey on Oct 7, 2009 11:38 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
ESPN says 3rd that could turn into a second, but that doesn’t make sense if Grossi is right.
by Ryan Kelsey on Oct 7, 2009 11:48 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yes, I just heard that on ESPN also, if Edwards reaches certain numbers we’ll get the second round pick.
