On Trusnick and Stuckey

Hey, Browns fans.  As a Jets fan, I checked in to see what you guys think of the deal--opinions seem to be mixed--and to let you know what you've got in Stuckey and Trusnik, having watched them play a little more than you probably have.

Stuckey was a solid WR in college, but suffered injuries his senior season and fell to the 7th round. In the 2007 preseason, he looked like he was going to step in as our #3 wideout, and put up great numbers, but suffered a season ending injury in the 4th preseason game...I believe it was a broken foot.  Then last year, he claimed that #3 wideout position, and was Brett Favre's favorite target until the middle of the year.  He runs really good routes and has great hands.  He's a little on the small side, and doesn't have elite speed, so he's really your prototypical slot receiver. He's not much of a playmaker or deep threat, but he was a solid #2 for us early in the season, and a lot of Jets fans are sad to seem him go.  You'll grow to like him, he's a great 3rd down receiver.

As for Trusnik, he's been one of our special teams aces, though it seems we have a few more on tap with Larry Izzo and others on the roster.  He hasn't played much at linebacker, but has done a good job in kick coverage.  2 weeks ago, against Tennessee, he made a great play to drop Ryan Mouton and strip the ball, setting up a Jets touchdown.  Nothing special, but he was a Mangini guy, so maybe he'll see some time at LB.

There you go, if there's anything else you want to know about those guys, just ask.

Trusnik....we will see

Trusnik played his college ball at Divison III Ohio Northern in Ada, Ohio. Being a Mount Union College Alumni I am well aware of Trusnik’s skills do to the rivalry between the two schools. Trusnik was a fierce defender, playing mainly defensive end in college. What is yet to be seen is if he will work his way into the linebacker rotation.

As for Stuckey, this young wideout could fit in nicely. With the emergence of Massaquoi this past week and the route running and solid hands of Furrey and Cribbs, Stuckey could be the next of our unknown recievers to make an impact. As Anderson gets more reps this season, all of our recievers will start to be more productive, including Stuckey.

Also, not sure that anyone’s mentioned it anywhere, but cleveland.com has a small writeup on Trusnik noting that he’s from NE Ohio and graduated from Nordonia H.S.

Trusnik is my boy. He actually played with Rob Sims in high school, former Buckeye, who is now with the Seattle Seahawks.

by gahnki on Oct 7, 2009 5:51 PM EDT up reply actions

And by “my boy,” I mean we graduated from the same high school and I know him anecdotally.

by gahnki on Oct 7, 2009 6:07 PM EDT up reply actions

by any chance, do you know if he had a brother named Joe?

I’m not absolutely sure, but I do not believe he does. I know he has a brother named Lenny, who played with him at Nordonia and ONU.

by gahnki on Oct 8, 2009 4:55 PM EDT up reply actions

He does have a younger brother. At Kent, I sit next to a girl who graduated from Nordonia, who talks to his younger brother frequently.

Nice summary of the players. Check back in later in the season and let us know if Braylon has done well for you. You probably know about the “drop thing”… hopefully (for your sake) he can regain focus for you guys and improve his quality of play. One of the big things I like about the trade is that we do not play the Jets this year. I hate the distraction from playing guys you trade. Enjoy watching your J-E-T-S.

What kind of a scrub team are you forcing on coach Mangini?
Ummm, Braylon Edwards, round one, pick three, in 2005. What kind of devaluation is required for a guy to leave Cleveland?
If I got the sense, that this team is going down, ready to get up, I´d be a little bit relieved. But this is pointless.

by mooncamping on Oct 8, 2009 6:13 AM EDT reply actions

Was that in English?

by Legoman0721 on Oct 8, 2009 10:25 AM EDT via mobile up reply actions

Did he just pass blame of this deal on the fans of the team? Also, what?

by Chief WaDrew on Oct 8, 2009 11:27 AM EDT up reply actions

Just let it go and don’t even worry about it.

by rufio on Oct 8, 2009 11:51 AM EDT up reply actions

But this is pointless.

I agree, if this is referring to the rest of your post. It’s good to see that we finally agree on something.

by drjeo on Oct 8, 2009 2:39 PM EDT up reply actions

Didn’t you say that “this isn’t Madden”, and it doesn’t matter who was picked where? Yet you go off using draft picks as a means to ascertain his worth. Contradictory, hmm?

by gahnki on Oct 8, 2009 4:53 PM EDT up reply actions

Come on guys. Mooncamping is a comic genius. How else can you explain his constant cotradictory usage of English? I don’t recall a single comment without some drivel like this one…..“that this team is going down, ready to get up.”

Also from memory he has been great at spelling and punctuation. No he is not som downs syndrome individual.

by steelerstyle on Oct 8, 2009 9:27 PM EDT reply actions

Is he just a character or is he really that insane?

You wouldn’t believe how long we’ve been trying to figure this conundrum.

by Simmsinns on Oct 8, 2009 10:43 PM EDT up reply actions

I do think there is something really special there.

by Roger Dorn on Oct 9, 2009 9:50 AM EDT up reply actions

I’m still thinking English isn’t his first language.

by Ryan Kelsey on Oct 9, 2009 11:56 AM EDT up reply actions

While he denies it. I think he’s foreign and loves rugby.

by SpecialBrownie on Oct 9, 2009 12:22 PM EDT up reply actions

I mean, look at the apostrophes in his posts- that’s not from an American key board. And he uses words not in the normal American lexicon.

by Ryan Kelsey on Oct 9, 2009 2:26 PM EDT up reply actions

Of course. I completely agree. And also I think his translator puts his words in the wrong order sometimes.

by SpecialBrownie on Oct 9, 2009 3:12 PM EDT up reply actions

Interesting thesis.

Mooncamping Apostrophe:

´

American apostrophe:

I never noticed the difference before.

by gahnki on Oct 9, 2009 5:01 PM EDT up reply actions

The former is usually used by those with a British education.

by Chief WaDrew on Oct 10, 2009 8:49 AM EDT up reply actions

Which brings rugby to a standpoint again.

by SpecialBrownie on Oct 10, 2009 10:38 AM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, I spent some time in Ireland a few years ago and the apostrophes always looked off to me. the keyboard and symbols are just a little different.

by Ryan Kelsey on Oct 12, 2009 2:21 PM EDT up reply actions

Anybodies guess is as good as another. I think one cannot get clues from what he says but how he is saying it. Thus I consider punctuation, spelling, and consistency.

by steelerstyle on Oct 9, 2009 12:52 PM EDT up reply actions

I love how every time mooncamping posts the conversation automatically switches from being about football to being about him.

by North Coast Flea on Oct 11, 2009 4:50 PM EDT up reply actions

He is like a DBN version of Rush Limbaugh

I never noticed that difference either.

Cheers, London Brown

(hoping that apostrophe comes out British)

If I was the queen of England, you would still speak disparagingly of me.
Apparently further dismal player choices is not spicy enough for you all.

by mooncamping on Oct 12, 2009 7:50 AM EDT reply actions

If you were the queen of England. Subjunctive mood failure.

Want out of Cleveland? Easy - mess with LeBron's entourage.

by woodsmeister on Oct 12, 2009 11:57 AM EDT up reply actions

If I only had a penny for every time I have seen that wrong on the Internet.

by Roger Dorn on Oct 12, 2009 12:47 PM EDT up reply actions

I probably mess that one up all the time.

by rufio on Oct 14, 2009 1:18 AM EDT up reply actions

If you were the queen of England, I would most certainly speak disparagingly of you. You see, here in America, we don’t have royalty. If anyone talks out of their ass, they will be called on it, regardless of title. Is it different where you come from?

by Ryan Kelsey on Oct 12, 2009 2:24 PM EDT up reply actions

We can say whatever we want about your queen. She has no authority over us.

by TheRealSlimShady on Oct 12, 2009 5:08 PM EDT up reply actions

Mark Sanchez had 5 INTs today. That trade is looking better now.
