The Browns game is blacked out this week...for Detroit Lions fans. This game is considered "the joke game," but all of us are still pulling for a win today, right?

We're underdogs to last year's 0-16 and this year's 1-8 Detroit Lions. If that doesn't tell you how our season has gone, then crawl out from under the rock and watch today's game.
Let's start off this week's preview with the overall team statistics heading into Week 11...

| CLEVELAND BROWNS | Position | DETROIT LIONS | ||
| Besides Buffalo, this might be the only team we can be labeled as "even" at the quarterback position. |
QB | Matthew Stafford hasn't had a good season, but a rookie gets time to take his lumps with a bad team. |
||
| We don't want to give the ball to Jamal Lewis a lot. We don't want to give it to Jerome Harrison at all. Chris Jennings is being sprinkled in. Someone needs to carry the load. |
RB | Kevin Smith has had a poor yards-per-carry average this season (3.4), but has three touchdowns and has done "ok" given the circumstances. |
||
| If our receivers can't get off of press coverage today, then we might have to worry about the prospects of Massaquoi or Robiskie contributing next year too. |
WR | Calvin Johnson is still a star in the making. For the Lions' sake, hopefully they don't trade their best receiver again, because they'll just draft another one. |
||
| The offensive line looked a little bit shaky against the Ravens last week, but against the 32nd ranked Lions defense, it's hard to believe they'll be tested the same. |
OL | Their offensive line is so bad, Yahoo Sports doesn't even show them as having a right guard. OK, they aren't horrible, but the Browns have the edge at youth in Joe Thomas and Alex Mack. |
||
| Shaun Rogers might have a little extra motivation to play well today against his former team. |
DL | The Lions don't have any stars on their line, much like the Browns with little to go on in terms of youth. |
||
| Kaluka Maiava and David Bowens have done very well at inside linebacker the past two weeks, with Jason Trusnik on the outside. Why does it seem more stable than when Jackson and Barton played the middle? |
LB | Julian Peterson is getting up their in age, but with veterans Larry Foote and Ernie Sims to go along with them, the unit has the experience to sit back and defend Quinn's short passing approach. |
||
| Brandon McDonald hasn't shown enough that he will be a starting cornerback this year, but Eric Wright has held steady for the second year in a row. |
DB | The Lions are ranked worst in the league against the pass. It'll be another epic tail if Brian Daboll chooses not to exploit that. |
||
| Joshua Cribbs is expected to play today despite last week's cheap shot taken on him. |
ST | I miss Dennis Northcutt at the receiver position. That's how bad it's been for us. |
||
I preached this week that the expectations should be downgraded to "nothing" on offense. But, maybe I should hold off on that projection for a week. Every team the Browns have faced this season besides two of them are ranked in the top half of the league defensively. Our offense might not break out this week with long drives, but I believe our defense can set up Brady Quinn with a few short drives by creating turnovers.
FINAL PREDICTION: Cleveland Browns 13, Detroit Lions 10.
CHRIS' RECORD IN PICKING BROWNS GAMES: 8-1
CHRIS' OVERALL NFL PREDICTIONS RECORD: 103-42
This is the official gameday thread for the Cleveland Browns in Week 11 as they face the Detroit Lions. All comments regarding the game should be posted in this thread. Enjoy the game, and GO BROWNS!!!

I get the Toledo CBS (WTOL) where I live (NW Ohio) and we don’t get Cleveland @ Detroit. What the fuck is that? Now I’ve got to watch this on a shitty internet stream rather than HD…
What’s going on with Robiskie? I don’t think he is injured. Surely he’ll grow, why is he not getting experience?

Why the fuck would a Toledo station this we’re more interesting in Pittsburgh vs. Kansas City over the two closest area teams?
Im getting a little pissed as well. Should have gone to the game, fuck

Awesome optimism there DN. I’m still gaping at that 24 on our side of the score board right now…

It’s not about the defense. Sure, he was wide open, but he still needed the arm strength to get the ball there.
by Buckeye Brad on Nov 22, 2009 1:26 PM EST up reply actions
i meant more that he never has time to throw a deep ball. or he isn’t patient enough in the pocket to if he gets any pressure.
Seriously. Did anybody see that coming? Looks like throwing beyond the line of scrimmage really is better!
Thanks. Now he’s here.

LOOK what happends when you turn the page of the playbook
by franklinbrownie41 on Nov 22, 2009 1:29 PM EST reply actions
okay this live feed is TERRIBLE (some guy filiming his tv. from an angle. hah.) but it’s the only one i can find:
Say what you want but it would be huge to not be stuck with the number 1 overall pick. The pressure from the media and whatnot would be on the Browns to select a QB 1 overall
I guess the page stuck back on the playbook

I was thinking, “What alien kidnapped Brady Quinn’s body”?
by Chief WaDrew on Nov 22, 2009 1:34 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah, it’s close, but I haven’t seen any video evidence to show his knee was down so they can’t overturn it.
by Buckeye Brad on Nov 22, 2009 1:35 PM EST up reply actions
Jennings looked like he was tackled behind the line of scrimmage but turned out of it and ran for a few yards, on the replay, though, he was down.
by Buckeye Brad on Nov 22, 2009 1:36 PM EST up reply actions
I just pray that this is a sign of offensive performance and not just the sucktitude of the Detroit Lions

holy crap. i am about to fall out of my chair!
two long TDs by brady. THIS is what i expected to see from him!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quick, somebody find his updated career stats! He’s probably an 80 rating QB now (looks at all the “had his chances” people).

This is the worst pass defense in the league. We can’t get too excited yet.
by Buckeye Brad on Nov 22, 2009 1:41 PM EST up reply actions
Of course. I’m just saying that let’s not make him a Pro Bowl QB now after one quarter.
by Buckeye Brad on Nov 22, 2009 1:44 PM EST up reply actions
It’s still a small sample size. I’m excited, of course, but this doesn’t prove anything.

Go Browns!

by RelapsingDawgCatcher on Nov 22, 2009 1:59 PM EST up reply actions
Maybe the Ravens game was a wake-up for Brady and Daboll… or maybe this is the reality of playing one of the worse teams in the NFL.
I’m trying REALLY hard to enjoy this, but all we’re playing for now is to avoid the top 5 picks. Right now we’re in there with the Bucs, Lions, Chiefs, Rams, and Redskins.
Come on, live a little. Acknowledge reality later!

I’m going to have to leave the site. My radio stream is about 3 minutes late, so I see it here before I can hear it. Sad departure, but this is what it’s come to. I hate you greedy NFL bastards. See you after the game, fellas.

How did we get those 53 yards? Yahoo has it as a 2 yard lewis run then a 4 yd TD pass. Which don’t add up..
Did anyone in thecountryworld start Quinn in fantasy today?

It’s possible none of these guys are good enough to play right now….except for Jerome Harrison, don’t get that one.
Grossi said he was unhappy with his lack of carries last week against the Ravens and the Browns wanted to get a look at Jennings.

For anyone absolutely set on video, there is a link here for a stream of the NFL Sunday Ticket’s Redzone Channel.
You won’t see a lot of Browns play, but if we score they will very quickly show a replay. It’s a great channel.
thx!

I like the screen passes. The first one didn’t work but they went back to it and got a first down.
The play-calling actually seems sensible today.
Yes, I know it’s nitpicking since they got the first down…but can we run anything else in the wildcat except for Cribbs right Cribbs left?
A really enjoyable game to watch, amazingly. Actually not like going to the dentist for a root canal as per usual.
BTW, more commercials plz.

I’m sure they were hoping to catch the Lions off guard and he’d be open for a TD. They obviously didn’t just do that to get 5 yards.
by Buckeye Brad on Nov 22, 2009 2:37 PM EST up reply actions
Announcer = idiot.
They weren’t killing the clock. Dawson could catch them sleeping and throw a touchdown pass. Unfortunately Detroit had the pass covered.
Right. It wasn’t to burn the clock, that’s stupid.
by Buckeye Brad on Nov 22, 2009 2:38 PM EST up reply actions
That’s right, folks. A game in which the 2009 Browns are playing has just been called a score-a-thon. And the score is not lopsided.
ok, so the defense kind of sucked the 2nd quarter. but the offense still looked nice. hopefully they’ll keep it up and ryan will talk some sense into this d.
Maybe the defense didn’t take Detroit seriously. Personally I think that the blitzes were killing the Browns, Stafford kept finding the player who would have been covered without a blitz.
I cant imagine the browns not taking anyone seriously. I don’t think they take themselves seriously. Thats the problem.
