Here we go again.
The Browns get a whiff of success, and next thing we know we´re making superlatives out of thin air. Sure, now Cribbs is an awesome runningback all of a sudden.
It´s a conundrum, most normal people can´t work through. He´s extraordinary as a punt and kick returner, so his qualities as a ball carrier are automatically supported. There is no rational retort. Accept one accolade, your supporting the other.
Joshua Cribbs is an all purpose player at best, he has heart and soul in no slow ammounts, and it translates well on punt and kickoff returns. And he is atypical to be doing even that, if I might add.
“I was a runningback back back in the day”…you were a QB with an average completion percentage of 54.325 % and a win-loss record of 19-27 in the miniscule MAC conference. While the statistics you accrued are impressive you averaged out at 1792.25 passing and 960.25 yards per season. In a total of 46 games and no bowl games your average yardage per game was 155.85 passing and 83.54 rushing. While not bad for an individual performance, those numbers aren´t exactly astronomical, and in all truth don´t point to exceptional talent carrying the ball.
What Joshua Cribbs has achieved in turning himself into an electrifying punt and kick returner in the NFL is laudable. But he´s not exactly the Masked Marvel out there.
We need to use more Flash package with him, but if we do that Daboll has to continue using the reverses, and pass options otherwise the def will always know whats coming. Also with Carl Smith as our qb coach, why is he not doing the play calling? He definitely has more experience than Daboll, and I have yet to see him with the playbook.
