BROWNS FANS!

I hope you feel you can win. I certainly dont right now, but we will see what happens.

Amazing Defensive performance against the Steelers.

When you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail.

We feel we can win a helluva lot more than we did say 4 – 5 weeks+ ago?

by SpecialBrownie on Dec 14, 2009 5:18 PM EST up reply actions

I would say we are moving in different directions then lol

we though we where moving forward back then but then two blowouts by the Chargers and Broncos and this loss to the Bills have us unsure of our Chiefs..

by tomahawk44 on Dec 14, 2009 5:28 PM EST up reply actions

How is Tyson Jackson doing? I haven’t followed the Chiefs much and was surprised they ended up wanting him over Curry at the time of the draft.

Are you nervous that Cassel was a product of the system in NE? I still like the trade for the Chiefs because they didn’t give up a whole lot for a potential long-term solution at QB.

by Roger Dorn on Dec 14, 2009 5:42 PM EST reply actions

Nervous? I’m pretty positive it’s been proven.

by SpecialBrownie on Dec 14, 2009 6:12 PM EST up reply actions

Thanks for the Questions

Tyson Jackson:Hes been hard to judge being a 3-4 DE but hes has made progress he will be coming off a 7 tackle game. He doesnt have good numbers as far as sacks and has been inconsistant at times producing 0-2 tackles. I wont really judge a D lineman until about three years though b/c it takes a little longer to adapt at the pro level.

Cassel:I dont think he was a product but yes NE’s system helped him a lot. Im afraid if KC doesnt get him help soon though he may be in trouble as much as I hate to say it but I want to give him atleast one more year.

by tomahawk44 on Dec 14, 2009 7:39 PM EST up reply actions

Jackson probably shouldn’t be judged based on his sack or tackle numbers. You guys are playing a 2-gap system, correct?

by rufio on Dec 15, 2009 1:19 AM EST up reply actions

Do you still see Dwayne Bowe as a valuable fantasy playoff WR considering he’s playing the Browns, despite having a lackluster season, and sitting the past few weeks?

(Seriously, I need some inside info on this, a championship is at stake! :)

by Simmsinns on Dec 14, 2009 5:52 PM EST reply actions

hmm

how good is your secondary? Im going to say he will get quite a few catches this week but maybe not a lot of yards but he will deff. be a big target in the red zone if we get there…

by tomahawk44 on Dec 14, 2009 7:20 PM EST up reply actions

Hard to tell

When Bowe was suspended, the Chiefs signed Chris Chambers who has gone on to quickly assume the No. 1 role in Bowe’s absence. Chambers has put up numbers comparable or better than Bowe in four games.

by Joel Thorman on Dec 14, 2009 9:23 PM EST up reply actions

A question to Dawgs

Your D has been keeping you all in games. KC used to be that way :(
What is the strength of your D. Line, LB’s, or secondary? and Players that make it so.
Cribbs is awesome, Can Succop kick off and tackle him too?

We Will kick at least 4 Teams Asses in 09. Almost there :)
And Succop will be the Key in two of them. Skins & Raiders! Pittsburgh Sweet!

by Steve_Chiefs on Dec 14, 2009 9:43 PM EST reply actions

Since late, our defense only kept us in games for the first half.

Our D line seems as though it’s shifted to run smothering possibly due to “A tub – a” Rubin. LB’s are a mesh of veterans, rookies, free agents, low value trades and waiver pulls. Amazingly, they’re doing pretty well as of late. Our DB’s are average as a whole. Wright is good but Adams, Poteat and Mcdonald have the possibility of being burned and beat deep.

by SpecialBrownie on Dec 14, 2009 10:17 PM EST up reply actions

Well

according to some Cassel can’t throw deep. Looking forward to a tight D struggle.
Kansas City and Cleveland both have a Marty mark. We got a goodun in Charles to run the ball and some good kickers. Don’t try our corners, attack the safeties. It is so cool we can talk stategy and neither teams mgmt pays any attention. They are so smart!

We Will kick at least 4 Teams Asses in 09. Almost there :)

by Steve_Chiefs on Dec 14, 2009 10:42 PM EST up reply actions

Yea that was the problem with Cassel coming from the Pats. He never really went deep, he pretty much made a year for himself throwing 5 yard slants and dump offs to the best 2 recievers in the NFL at making getting yards after the catch.

by The Licensed Pessimist on Dec 15, 2009 11:51 AM EST up reply actions

Please elaborate

plus I was reading that Dawgs is pondering draft just like AP.
I see RB but also Berry and Suh. The pundits aren’t calling for any of those.
What is the concensus of opinion on the 1st round draft pick?

We Will kick at least 4 Teams Asses in 09. Almost there :)

by Steve_Chiefs on Dec 14, 2009 10:59 PM EST up reply actions

I think the general consensus here is that we’d like to see Suh if at all possible. We’re planning on winning a few more games, though, so we probably won’t draft high enough to pick up Suh. In that case, alot of people would like us to draft Berry.

by shep615 on Dec 14, 2009 11:10 PM EST up reply actions

I like Okung as a third option behind Suh and Berry. Quinn will be as good as his protection, and if Okung can play on the right side, I say go for it.

by golanbatrac on Dec 14, 2009 11:41 PM EST up reply actions

I’d personally rather wait until the second and try to grab Cintron Black or Sam Young to put on the right side

by The Licensed Pessimist on Dec 15, 2009 11:49 AM EST up reply actions

Sam Young has potential, but right now he sucks. I doubt he will go before the late 3rd.

Ciron Black will more than likely be switched to guard

by TheRealSlimShady on Dec 15, 2009 6:32 PM EST up reply actions

Ciron Black has the versitility to go to guard but there are other guard prospects in the second to go after if thats what a team desired. I wouldn’t say Young sucks but I could see him going in the second or third.

by The Licensed Pessimist on Dec 17, 2009 3:29 PM EST up reply actions

Joe Haden also wouldn’t be bad because he can be a lockdown corner

by TheRealSlimShady on Dec 15, 2009 6:32 PM EST up reply actions

Agree with Shep, we want top player available and to not be force fed a QB by the media. Suh would be the pick if he were there, but most of us would also like Berry since we could use more playmakers on both sides of the ball. A RB at some point in the draft would be awesome, and we could probably use some right side of the OL help and another WR.

by Roger Dorn on Dec 14, 2009 11:29 PM EST up reply actions

I read something both on yahoo and the rotowire here that said Mangini is seriously considering making Cribbs a full-time RB. I’d guess if he does that then we probably won’t try for RB in the draft as we already have Jennings and Harrison and Davis… WR would be a decent add on. Hopefully we can get some more experienced help there through free agency, though.

by shep615 on Dec 14, 2009 11:46 PM EST up reply actions

Gotta wonder if that’s not a mistake. His value is in the field position game (via kick returns and occasional runs).

If anything, I think they should pull him from the kick coverage unit and give him 10 touches at Halfback or in the Wildcat.

Dawgs By Nature -- where Hitler, apparently, 'did some good things'.

by golanbatrac on Dec 15, 2009 12:00 AM EST up reply actions

Agree with this. The usage of him in in PIT game was nearly perfect. He can also be used on some catch and runs and could throw out of the wildcat once or twice, but to convert him to a full time RB I think limits what this very unique player can provide.

by danvail on Dec 17, 2009 8:08 AM EST up reply actions

I actually watched the press conference that Rotowire was referring to. Mangini didn’t quite say it that way, but said he would be “open to it.” His main point was that he wanted to use him in a way that would allow him to be effective on offense and special teams.

by Roger Dorn on Dec 15, 2009 12:37 PM EST up reply actions

Very true. I started watching the press conferences late last night and I came to the same conclusion.

by shep615 on Dec 15, 2009 1:41 PM EST up reply actions

Consensus is getting weaker by the minute, seeing as more and more football aficionados are asserting their true preferences versus what the scouts and analysts are peddling.
And here is the versus:
-We want a more balanced line, with smaller but squarer defensive tackles. Suh is a line buster just like Shaun Rogers. Ahtyba Rubin is a good example of what we´re looking for, maybe a more beastly strong guy for Nose Guard. B.J. Raji was very hot to me.
-We need bigger tougher cornerbacks to help in run support. Pure coverage is out, we want guys opposing receivers have to tangle with. So don´t be surprised to see someone 6´3 but agile over there.
-The most glaring need is at linebacker. We need to get faster, more mobile forward, backwards, sideways and diagonally, more aggressive towards the point of initial contact, impede procede. We believe sacks happen if you´re playing good defense, and buying into the sack master mold usually lots you unwieldy more clumsy players. Overt specialization is also out, so we´re not looking for MIKE, WILL or SAM. We´re looking for VERNE, as in versatile x4, but with slight nods to what´s prototypical differentiation for the two inside spots and the two outside spots. Your Demorrio Williams would make a beautiful addition at one of the outside linebacker spots, I´m not going to lie.
-I like Ryan Clark at Strong Safety and a rover like Troy Polamalu to back up the inside linebackers at Free Safety. Underscouted and underhyped Nate Ness and Solomon Elimimian from last year´s draft class would have been perfect fits for those designations.
Ok, there´s what some of us will be looking for in the coming draft and in general. We´re trying to optimize our chances by being upfront about exactly what we desire.
Don´t be shocked, they´re going to have my hide on this as usual, but you have to stick with your gospel.
Good luck, run the middle of the field, and it will be easy for you, we just need to get better and more honest to deserve winning.

Oh, and I didn´t mean the middle of the field as in around the 50 yard line, I meant the middle of the field as it relates to the defense from the offenses standpoint.

Well head on over to AP man

You can butt heads with our faithfull all day and I will back up your Diagnosis of the Chiefs D. We have a problem right up the gut too.
Yet we want cover Safeties and need a true NT. Let the LB’s upgrade by those around them being better. We will keep D. Williams for now. Why didn’t you all want Pollard, he was a nose in the LOS alll day long yet not much for coverage unless he Could light someone up.

Because AP has the one day membership blocker like us, I just want Chief’s fans to know that Coye Francies is a Brown, not a Steeler, a Brown.

That Steeler in your “Caption” article is Clark. How dare you slander a Brown like that.

by SpecialBrownie on Dec 15, 2009 12:55 AM EST reply actions

Same… Because of the one day membership blocker, I’d like to say to whoever the clown is that said they will kick to Cribbs and make him fair catch or muff the kick… Dude, it’s your funeral. We’d be tickled pink if you kick it off to him.

Furthermore, Cribbs is going to run around 10 times out of the wildcat. You’re going to know he’s running the ball, and you will probably know which way he is going with it. Still, you should expect to give up around 5+ yards every time.

If you can stop him on kicks or in the wildcat, then kudos to you! No one else has really been able to.

by shep615 on Dec 15, 2009 10:52 AM EST up reply actions

Thanks! And hey, I don’t know if I sounded like a jerk or anything in my post… I don’t mean it if I did. I’m just saying kicking to Cribbs is just not smart.

Naw man you didnt I get where you are coming from...lol

Cribbs is good I wanted Kc to try trading for him the whole season

by tomahawk44 on Dec 15, 2009 11:16 AM EST up reply actions

As fans who watch him on a weekly basis, what to do think of Jamaal Charles overall, and what kind of numbers to you expect from him vs. the Browns this week? (This is actually a fantasy football related question as well. When facing the prospect of starting him or Ray Rice vs. Chicago, who would you play?)

by Simmsinns on Dec 15, 2009 3:15 PM EST reply actions

Or even benching, dear I say, Maurice Jones-Drew, then playing Ray Rice and Jamaal Charles.

I’ve got a lot of options.

by Simmsinns on Dec 15, 2009 3:22 PM EST up reply actions

Do not bench Ray Rice.
Do not bench MJD.

by Bernie19Kosar on Dec 15, 2009 6:39 PM EST up reply actions

I know, but…. Charles is actually averaging a decent amount more than both of them in the last 5 weeks and the match-up is just so tempting. (He’s only gone under 20 once in the last 5 weeks, and even then he put up 11.)

But than again, I don’t want to have to root against the Browns’ defense in any way.
Yeah, I’m still not sure I can bring myself to bench either of them though.

One nice thing is that no matter what, I’ve got an excellent safety net, I like to call Christopher Duan Johnson.

by Simmsinns on Dec 15, 2009 7:19 PM EST up reply actions

I’d sit Charles on the bench for this one… Because the Browns are going to shut down Charles just like they did Mendenhall :-)

… I hope.

by shep615 on Dec 15, 2009 9:15 PM EST up reply actions

Charles is 5 times the RB Mendenhall is, but I too hope we shut him down! I’ll leave him on the bench.

by Simmsinns on Dec 15, 2009 9:46 PM EST up reply actions

Oh, I don’t think this is right.

by Roger Dorn on Dec 15, 2009 10:11 PM EST up reply actions

Ok, maybe not 5 times, but I still think he is better than Rashard Mendenhall. At least from everything I’ve seen thus far, it has given me that strong impression.

by Simmsinns on Dec 15, 2009 11:10 PM EST up reply actions

I think Mendenhall is better, but it’s pretty early in both careers to make a determination.

by Roger Dorn on Dec 15, 2009 11:58 PM EST up reply actions

Ray Rice: 10.40

Jamaal Charles: 23.76

Ultimately, I made the bad call. Oh well, I still won thanks to Romo+Austin, and Greg Jennings finally playing football.

Dorn kicked my ass in the DBN league.

I had no one show up for me.

My other league I needed a miracle. I got it with a twisted DeAngelo Williams ankle. It’s a festivus miracle!

by Bernie19Kosar on Dec 21, 2009 1:28 AM EST up reply actions

Happy Festivus, DBN!

The holiday for the rest of us!

I’d like to start my Festivus celebrations with the much honored tradition: “Airing of Grievances”

Mr. Dwayne Bowe, what the hell? What did you do to convince me to take you in the fourth round, ahead of Colston, Welker, and Vincent Jackson. Ok, ok, poor play with a poor quarterback is one thing, but getting suspended for 4 games? I mean c’mon man, you’re no value to me on the bench!

Mr. Greg Jennings, what the hell?!?! Even if you did save me this week, that doesn’t make up for this season. I traded Marion Barber for you before the season even started and that is what happens? We haven’t seen these kind of abysmal numbers from you since you’re rookie season. What happened guy? You we’re leading the NFL in receiving for a good part of last season, now your giving up catches to a dude 8 years your elder. I had so much hope for that trade…. make up for it when most counts, win me a championship and I might forgive you.

I was nervous that playing Arian Foster over Jerome Harrison was going to cost me, but I think I got lucky in that your team didn’t have a typical day for itself. My timing has been good in the DBN league.
