Could the Browns be the most talked about team in the offseason?
Possible story lines for this offseason:
Mike Holmgrem- How does he plan on turning the team around?
QB situation- What does Holmgrem do with our current QB's?
Mangini situation- Does he stay or does he go?
If Mangini goes- What happens to Rob Ryan?
Charlie Weis factor- Rumor has it the Browns are eyeing him.
Joshua Cribbs contract situation- If a new regime comes in what happens to his contract situation. If he doesn't get a new one, will he demand a trade?
Dante Stallworth situation- Been gone a year, do we keep him or release him?
Bernie Kosar as GM?- Mike Holgrem was named president, so will he hire a puppet GM? It could be labled as Bernie's training.
NFL Draft- Browns have the a top 10 pick and the most picks in the draft. Do we draft a QB? Can we trade
up and get Suh?

He is the best thing to happen to our defense in a long time.

No.

The Browns seem to be the most talked about team in the offseason yearly- that’s part of the problem.
It’ll be interesting to see if he gets another chance.

I know this is sacrilege to some around here, but I really couldn’t care less if Rob Ryan is here next season.
Don’t get it twisted, I like Ryan and the (at times) attacking nature of his defense.
But we are still talking about a DC who gave up on average 34 points to the Bears, Lions and Chiefs, in other words the 23rd, 27th, and 26th scoring offenses in the NFL.
HIs two great games (Bills and Steelers) were both played with horrible offensive conditions.
But he does have kick ass hair.
If Mangini goes and so does Ryan, do we (possibly) bring in a fired Wade Phillips? It seems concensus that he won’t be around after the season’s over.

I love Wade as a DC. He knows the 3-4.

I thought the suspicion that Mangini would be gone because of the differences in scheme between Holmgren and Mangini.
One baseball game, he came to the plate and heard a woman in the crowd shout to the pitcher, "I'll make you a chocolate cake if you strike out that 'so-and-so'!" Says Strong: "I hit that ball out of the park. Then I looked at her like, 'Do I get a cake now?' "

I wasn’t saying anything more than I like Wade Phillips as a DC.

Yeah I know, but the original poster mentioned his name as a replacement for Ryan and I thought the whole premise for Mangini leaving would be incompatible schemes. It wasn’t really directed at you more just a statement in general.

Rob Ryan
I feel Rob Ryan is doing amazing right now…Ive never seen our defense do this good…It really showed during the Steelers Game…Please keep him.
are you kidding…the only reason the D looked good is b/c the the steelers D line was leaky and the conditions were horrible. the conditions were such that you would be lucky to get 100 yards passing and the steelers got about 150 yds passing and about 10 passing first downs. in that weather, with those receivers, that is a hard feat…but not when playing the rob ryan defense. yes, this game was one of the few games where the opposing team did not rush for over 100 yards. out of the 2 games where teams rushed for less than 100 yds against us, one was in very cold, bad weather where no offense was happening b/c the players couldn’t cut as well on the field and the browns D loaded 8 men into the box (steelers game) and the other, the other team didn’t rush the ball a lot b/c they passed all over us for over 400 yds (lions, who were one of the worst offenses in the league in fact). we won the steelers game b/c of josh cribbs. he had a 55 yd punt return to put us into field goal range and he had a 30 yd run to put us in the red zone on a drive that led to a touchdown.
