The surprise isn't which two rookies, but probably that the 2nd one was named at all.

And yes, FootballOutsiders.com is the only website I read.

Massaquoi has shown flashes, my hope is that he becomes an above average 2, but I don’t see him as a number 1 go to threat.

Mack was an easy choice for center, and I would argue has been better than Oher. Oher has had a few poor games, whereas Mack’s only issues this year were the snaps against the Broncos, which he has seemed to fix.

Seriously though, for a rookie, regardless of being a center… how impressive is this?

According to our database, Mack hasn’t been penalized once all season.

Yay for getting a non-bust first round pick!

Yeah, Mack was a no brainer. Glad they took notice of MoMass as well.

The thing that caught my eye was that Maualuga was on the list for Linebacker with some pretty significant stats. Wouldn’t have been nice to have 3 rookies on that list instead of 2 and a receiver that doesn’t even suit up for most of the games? Well, 2 outta 3 ain’t bad I guess.

No thank you on Maualuga.

I’ve been asking myself the same question all season.

Why is Hakeem Nicks missing the “Wide Receiver:” label? They picked three rookie WRs for there All-Rookie team, correct? If so I think he deserved to be mentioned first, unless of course it isn’t in any particular order. On the other hand if they only picked two WRs, and the third is just some kind of mention, I think Nicks and Harvin are better options, and MoMass to the label-less position.

Since we’re on the topic of rookies, I’ll paste this here.

39 tackles, a sack and two forced fumbles.

Considering where we took Maiava, those stats are alright.

by skipkirk on Dec 23, 2009 10:02 PM EST reply actions

Honestly, these are almost identical stats to Rey M. if you consider the amount of playing time each has had.

by Roger Dorn on Dec 24, 2009 1:32 AM EST up reply actions

I really like Maiava as a backup/sub package guy. He isn’t big or especially physical, but he can move well and looks to be pretty intelligent.

Count me as ok with picking guys who were productive on good teams in college who “can’t make it in the NFL because they aren’t _ enough”. In the later rounds.
