Mike Holmgren said on a radio show in Seattle that he would be interested in returning to the Seahawks one year after he left the team, possibly as GM or President. The Seahawks fired their GM this week. Holmgren still lives in Seattle and obviously is very familiar with the roster so I would think that if he wants to return to the NFL then he'd choose a position in Seattle over Cleveland or anywhere else.

This isn't good news for Browns fans who wanted him to come here. Hopefully Lerner has a good backup plan.

Kind of ironic

Kind of ironic with all the talk about waiting and making sure that we make the best decision ends in Seattle conveniently having a spot practically waiting for Holmgren.

I wonder if Lerner will even still pursue Holmgren. He should…

This is about the 10th conflicting rumor I’ve heard about Holmgren since Kokinis was fired. I’m starting to think that they are all coming from the Holmgren camp as he tries to generate a frenzy. Who knows? But is is amazing how you’ll hear one thing on one day and then the exact opposite the next.

Well, this really isn’t a rumor since it came directly from Holmgren himself. Of course he didn’t say that he would take the job, just that he’s open to the possibility. But if he did want to come back then I would think Seattle would have to be the favorites to get him.

FILE - In this Sept. 4, 2009 file photo, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Shaun Hill aims a pass downfield against the San Diego Chargers during the first quarter of an NFL preseason football game in San Diego. Hill earned the starting job for the 2009 season by beating out Alex Smith, who missed last season after re-injuring his surgically repaired throwing shoulder. Head coach Mike Singletary largely chose Hill based on his play down the stretch last year: he went 5-3 over the final eight games and he also owns a 5-0 record at home in Candlestick Park.
