Browns Select LB Kaluka Maiava in 4th Round
With the Cleveland Browns' first Day 2 pick, they selected USC linebacker Kaluka Maiava at No. 104 overall.
Here is what Yahoo Sports says about him:
Maiava is the unsung linebacker on the USC defense, but is a very good prospect in his own right. He is tough as nails and will compete inside for astarting MLB spot in the Browns' 3-4 defense.
Apparently, Maiava played second-fiddle to the trio of Clay Matthews, Rey Maualuga, and Brian Cushing. That doesn't degrade his talent level in any way; you could look at it as getting a good linebacker at a lesser price because of the talent in front of him.

What I like
about this draft is that it gives me hope for playoffs this year. The two defensive players from the Jets will put veterans on the field. 5 new Jet defensive players.
I read that the Jets were #9 in the league in run defense.
Combining the best of what the Browns had with some of the better Jet defensive players means that we will have a representative defense on the field.
Like I said yesterday, It will take a while to round out the roster to go deep into the playoffs, but for now just being in the playoffs is OK with me.
Hope the Brownie players do not read this because I want a SB this year.
Eternal hope.
With several sixth-round picks, I figured a separate post for each of them would just be clutter, and that I’d just include them in my Day 2 recap later tonight.

does everyone love this pick because of the player he is or because he played on USC?

I heard he is Duane Johnson’s nephew. Any truth to that? If so we should call him " The Boulder"
