Five Minutes With Don Carey
A fun story about Browns CB Don Carey, and how he was told on the phone by Cleveland, Dallas, and Seattle, "we're going to take you".

He sounds a little cocky but thats fine. He will have to work hard though to get playing time EVER with the Browns though since we have Hood, B-Mac, and Wright and they are all relatively young. Don will also have to compete with Francies.
Anyway, Best of luck to Carey, and I wouldnt cry if he put a hit on Hines Ward so hard he was too scared to play against Cleveland ever again.

CBs are supposed to be overconfident, no?

Where do you get the idea that he is cocky? It sounds like he is a good kid who appreciates the support of his family – anyone sitting around playing Uno, Dominoes and Deep 6 seems to have his priorities straight. Maybe he is steering for a Mattel endorsement deal?

No, man, not Mattel. He’s looking for a deal with the premier maker of board games, Milton Bradley. He’ll be in line for an endorsement right after . . . well, Milton Bradley, I guess.

Since it is doubtful that we will have 7 CBs on the roster, who do you think will make the roster between Don Carey and Coye Francies? Right now I would say Coye.

Last year, I believe we had ten people in the secondary on our roster. Five safeties, five corners. So, let’s set the bar at five and see what we are left with.
Brandon McDonald and Eric Wright are the only two official locks (though they are not locks to start). I would think Hood will make the team too.
1. Eric Wright
2. B-Mac
3. Rod Hood
The final two spots will likely be split between Corey Ivy, Hank Poteat, Gerard Lawson, Don Carey, and Coye Francies.
To me, that means it’ll be Ivy vs. Poteat vs. Lawson for one spot (with Lawson probably not having a great shot). The other spot is Coye vs. Francies, with the loser headed to the practice squad.
Of course, another solution is to bump off a safety and carry a sixth corner. We didn’t really use our No. 5 corner last year in Hamza Abdullah. This year, Pool, Elam and Adams have locked spots, with Sorensen set for No. 4 at the moment.

And after all that, I failed to answer your question ;) I meant to also say that I have no legitimate prediction at the moment between Coye and Francies.

I say leave it at 4 safeties: Pool, Elam, Adams, and Sorensen, and carry a 6th corner.
1. Wright
2. Hood
3. McDonald
4. Ivy
5. Poteat
6. Francies
Carey to the practice squad.

I think that would be better than splitting 5 and 5.
I also wouldnt mind if UDFA Bryan Williams eventually passed Sorenson for a spot because of he is a better athlete and has ST value.

I am thinking Carey will make the team. The browns have been lining him up at corner and safety so far in camp. That kind of versatility increases the likelihood of making the squad

“between Coye and Francies”
I’m guessing you mean Francies and Carey

Ha, indeed. I said it in both spots, too.
