I still love Brett Favre, but I can't believe this guy. After all of the mumbo-jumbo again, Favre has signed with the Minnesota Vikings. He is scheduled to play in their preseason game this week, and will undoubtedly beat out Tavaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels to be the team's Week 1 starter against the Cleveland Browns.

Does this mean we get National TV week 1?

by Roger Dorn on Aug 18, 2009 2:51 PM EDT reply actions

It wouldn’t surprise me, but probably not because it looks like FOX has that slot dedicated to the Giants vs. Redskins.

Instead of FOX’s Z announcers though, maybe we’ll get their B announcers.

I wonder how bad we would have to be and how bad of a team we would have to play to get Bernie as an announcer.

Man i was wishing Mangini was going to try to pull a few strings. They say the gunslinger looked like he did in his hay day, but he’s only been playing with high school players

I am very thankful we passed on Favre

by Roger Dorn on Aug 18, 2009 3:40 PM EDT up reply actions

Are you kidding? You wanted Favre on the Browns? Despite the fact that he would have never come here — why? This team needs a young QB to build a team around, not an old guy on his last leg

by Buckeye Brad on Aug 18, 2009 4:02 PM EDT up reply actions

favre would have been frustrated in cleveland by week 3. he is the last thing this team needs. we’re struggling with stability at QB already, we don’t need a third guy in the mix that might poop out with a bum shoulder. the best thing favre could be for the browns is a QB coach. he had that chance and didn’t want it.

by Dawg Nuts on Aug 18, 2009 6:39 PM EDT up reply actions

but we already have brett ratliff…who i thought mangini preferred to favre last year???

by DontCallMeJoey on Aug 18, 2009 7:42 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m looking forward to the Vikings starting off 2-6 and Favre quit…, I mean, “retiring” mid-season due to shoulder fatigue.

The Vikings are going to be pretty darn good.

by gahnki on Aug 18, 2009 5:49 PM EDT up reply actions

They will be without both DTs in week 1 and it will be Favre’s first game in the new offense after being terrible down the stretch last year. We can definitely win that game

by Roger Dorn on Aug 18, 2009 6:15 PM EDT up reply actions

Granted, they probably will be suspended, but they haven’t been suspended yet, right?

I think that game it going to depend on how well the Browns stop the run.

by JustBob on Aug 18, 2009 6:24 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m not saying we can’t. I just think a prediction of a 2-6 start for the Vikings is pretty unrealistic.

by gahnki on Aug 18, 2009 6:30 PM EDT up reply actions

yeah…it’s much more likely to be 6-2.

by drjeo on Aug 19, 2009 3:01 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, but can’t you see them being pretty darn good once they have everyone back? Favre did play in that offense for a while in GB, so it shouldn’t take him a long time to be able to run it in Minnesota.

by rufio on Aug 20, 2009 2:43 AM EDT up reply actions

I am more down on Favre than most. I think he is about 50/50 bet to be any good this year

by Roger Dorn on Aug 21, 2009 5:01 PM EDT up reply actions

I know they’re supposed to be pretty darn good, but things happen… sometimes bad things.

I’m not predicting so much as I’m hoping for.

Does this also mean that we’ll have a chance to win Week 1? If Favre can remember how to throw the interception, which wasn’t a problem last year – or his whole career – we have a shot!

"It’s tough," Martinez said. "This is my house. This is my home."
We'll miss you, Vic

Mangini should no about Favre’s weaknesses.

" Of course Steroids should be allowed! I wanna see 700 foot home runs and 90 yard field goals! I litterally want to see someone's d**k get shoved in the dirt!"

by BradyQuinnisBeast on Aug 18, 2009 6:32 PM EDT reply actions

everyone has known his weaknesses for years, that hasn’t stopped him from becoming a future HOFer.

by Dawg Nuts on Aug 18, 2009 6:36 PM EDT up reply actions

or sucking last year

by Roger Dorn on Aug 18, 2009 8:36 PM EDT up reply actions

i think the injury caused that, he played well until he got hurt.

by Dawg Nuts on Aug 19, 2009 10:40 AM EDT up reply actions

And his rotator cuff is partially torn…maybe Rogers can make Favre remember why he considered retirement.

by rufio on Aug 20, 2009 2:45 AM EDT up reply actions

But he hasn’t played like one in a two years. That’s what annoys me about all the “future Hall of Famer” accolades. He’s not a Hall of Fame caliber QB right now, not even close.

by Buckeye Brad on Aug 20, 2009 12:51 PM EDT up reply actions

i hope brett favre explodes

This technically doesn’t count as cursing:

  • Brett Favre in the mouth. That attention * needs to crawl into a cold, dank corner and quietly die a death as agonizing as four years of 96/7 ESPN speculation.

Metaphorically speaking, of course.

by danvail on Aug 18, 2009 10:55 PM EDT reply actions

Hahaha – bullet point. That’s fantastic. Feel free to replace the bullet point with “****”.

by danvail on Aug 18, 2009 10:56 PM EDT up reply actions

If he wants to play, then why cant he?

" Of course Steroids should be allowed! I wanna see 700 foot home runs and 90 yard field goals! I litterally want to see someone's d**k get shoved in the dirt!"

by BradyQuinnisBeast on Aug 19, 2009 4:58 PM EDT up reply actions

He makes me angry more because of the indecision, the continuous news coverage, the attention-grabbing, and the fake everyman-ness and less because of the wanting to play football.

by rufio on Aug 20, 2009 2:47 AM EDT up reply actions

Then he shouldn’t have retired, or taken so long to come back, or announced three weeks ago that he wasn’t coming back. It’s the drama associated with him that makes everyone upset.

by Buckeye Brad on Aug 20, 2009 12:51 PM EDT up reply actions

This is sad. I was really hoping we could extend an offer for thee old player/coach designation. Now he´s in Minnesota to mentor Sage Rosenfels. The purple looks weird on him, but why not. If he´s still p.o.´d at Green Bay he can enter the Hall Of Fame as a Viking.

by mooncamping on Aug 20, 2009 7:53 AM EDT reply actions

Players don’t enter the NFL Hall of Fame with a certain team. They get a bust but there is no team affiliation with them. It’s not like baseball where the player wears a team hat.

by Buckeye Brad on Aug 20, 2009 12:49 PM EDT up reply actions

Actually there is. If you look for them in the hall records, they’re under some team. The hall usually categorizes them with the team they were with the longest or had the most production with. That’s why the Browns have a certain number in, the Steelers, etc…
