J. Cribbs for quarterback
OHHH boy have I been waiting to vent my frustrations about my hometown Cleveland Browns. I moved away but am a die hard fan,and probably always will be. I just dont understand how they seem to not l;ook for players with "Talent". Players who are game changers. Drafting has always been their downfall and until they get that part right they are going to be the same ole same ole. They wont spend any money on free agents who are game changers. They have the best player on the team...Josh Cribbs playing wide receiver / kick return and they could use a serious upgrade all over the team. They wont get a coach who's a proven winner because lets face it the coaches know ownership wont be committed to winning and putting good players on the field. Come on last in the NFL in offense..."again". It breaks my heart to see them just self destruct on the field, sometimes it seems they dont have a clue, the offensive play calling is terrible. They are predictable all the time. I see quarterbacks drafted time and time again, and they seem to look for a ball control quarterback instead of an "athlete" someone who's a threat to run or has the arm strength to make plays. Come on how often do we see other quarterbacks improvise and make plays,D.mcnabb,M.Vick,manning,Brady,.....etc...until they draft good players and aquire good free agents, and a coaching staff thats both creative and committed to winning I'm afraid its going to be the same song over and over and over. please at least try Cribbs at quarterback...how much worse could it be?

With everything that’s wrong with the offense I’m all for creative suggestions but let’s get real here. Cribbs is a great athlete and an amazing return man (and my favorite player on the team) but he’s no NFL quarterback. On the couple of option style ‘wildcat’ plays we’ve seen him run he’s looked even more indecisive than Quinn. Let him do what he’s good at.

Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.

Brave post. I just can’t believe that we are even considering/discussing hanging our hopes on an undrafted player. I mean 32 teams passed on this guy for 7 rounds. Granted he is better than that and he has exceeded expectations but come on! It just shows how bad the Browns have been at acquiring/keeping play makers at any skill position when someone like Cribbs looks so good by comparison. Ouch!
Brownsyup
Well Cribbs is good regardless of comparison. Or are you just saying comparison of Quarterback because we’ve rarely tried him there?

I wonder why you think this. I’m sure you must concede that they’re TRYING to find players who will be successful, and spending money isn’t really an issue. Of course everyone’s on the salary cap (for now at least), but the Browns organization is well known for treating the players lavishly: great facilities, locker rooms, etc. In fact, one of the criticisms of the Romeo Browns was that they coddled their players, and tended to overpay free agents. We can legitimately criticize the result, but I don’t see how you can criticize the effort in trying to rebuild the team.

Is that why several end up with staph infection?
I think Kellen Winslow would have begged to differ.
You know it isnt just Cleveland Players that get staph

“Cleveland Browns tight end Kellen Winslow revealed Sunday that he had a staph infection, his second in three years and the team’s seventh in four years.”
Kellen Winslow: "Nobody knew that I had staph on the team because the Browns didn’t want it to get out," he told ESPN. "But it’s my teammates’ right to know what’s going on at the facility to protect them. Their safety is at risk, too, and I didn’t agree with the Cleveland Browns, because they are protecting the organization and not the players."
Source.
I’m just saying that Kellen Winslow might disagree with Drjeo’s original statement that players are treated lavishly, especially with great facilities.
Your comment displays a keen lack of understanding of staph infections in general, along with also having nothing to do with disproving the original comment.
I’m not attempting to disprove his comment, I’m just saying some players like Kellen Winslow or Joe Jurevicius, perhaps might disagree that they were treated lavishly. Although it’s possible they contracted MRSA from the Cleveland Clinic during or following a surgery, it’s not impossible to contract it from a training facility or locker room.
Agree. My understanding is that Jurevicius got it away from the Browns facilities, while Winslow was at the facilities.
The point I was really trying to make though is that the problem is not confined to the Browns, the Browns were just the most publicized. Staph is a growing problem across the country as it continues to transform and some of the sterility procedures are no longer effective.
Just as an added note:
On June 26, 2009, Jurevicius filed a lawsuit in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas naming the Browns, the Cleveland Clinic, and Browns team physicians, Dr. Anthony Miniaci and Dr. Richard Figler, as defendants.8 The suit alleges Jurevicius contracted staph in his right knee due to the Browns’ failure to sterilize their Berea, Ohio training facility properly and the failure of doctors at the Cleveland Clinic to take proper precautions against infection.8 Five other Browns players and two staff members have also contracted staph since 2003.8 Source.
They did everything short of knock down the facilities and build new ones in an effort to get rid of staph.
They brought in a specialty team to clean the facilities and speak to the players about how to avoid staph.
The players knew about the infections, they knew what they could do to avoid them, all they didn’t know is that one extra person got an infection.
