A New Vent...

All of this "woe is me" crap is sickening.  A day of venting about the losses is fine.  Let it out, and then move on.  We've got a game on Sunday and it's against the stinkin' Ravens!  It's gotten to the point where I can't find a discussion board that doesn't sound like Cleveland.com. It's only been 2 games, folks... TWO GAMES!!!  If you are tired of rooting for losing teams, why in bloody blazes are you a Cleveland fan???  Where is your pride?  Where is your honor?

I like this post. very uplifting, and what i admire most is that it has a purpose and a point to make. i’m exhausted with every clown that joins the site delivering a crazy manifesto that would have been more appropriate for cleveland.com.

On most sites, the talk falls to the lowest common denominator, but I have grown accustomed to the chatter on DBN to be closer to Lambda Lambda Lambda than Delta Tau Chi (at least in terms of overall intelligence and GPA)…

I think every Browns fan is concerned about Mangini and the team, but I don’t know how we can pass judgment. The media? They’re paid to sound like idiots, so passing early judgment is required. The fans? We have to watch this team for another 14 games, so it’s best we sit back and enjoy what we can.

Absolutely agree with you. Time to suck it up people. If you want a winning team go root for the Yankees. That being said, I do see a lot more people taking this very hard, and not just on the Internet. People I know who have been enthusiastic through all the bad times and who have gone to the Stadium for thirty years are suddenly very depressed and downtrodden. I might not be a fan of your team, but you’ve got an incredible following and that is what we all are trying for. Unfortunately, we have no control over the winning and losing and while we want to win, it’s nice to see passion from a team whose true fans never abandon them.

The bashing is taking the fun out of it. I guess people enjoy that sort of stuff, but I prefer a little more reasonable discussion about what happens on the field every Sunday (instead of the 2009/10 drafts, owners, and GMs).

The remarkable thing about the NFL is that you never know. Who knew the Falcons and Dolphins would be in the playoffs at the start of last season? They were considered the worst two teams in the league, with no arguments. Heck, the Dolphins even lost the first two games of the 2008 season – and looked awful in the process – THEN turned around and beat the Patriots on the way to winning the division.

Sure, it’s more wishful thinking to expect a win this Sunday, but it’s not life-or-death (where you have to plan for the worst).

I think the Dolphins hit that point where they knew what they were doing was clearly not working, went to something that people thought was too gimmicky to be an NFL offense (Wildcat), gained some momentum and some confidence, and then kept rolling with it.

We’ve hit the point where what we are doing clearly isn’t working. Time to make some big changes, particularly on offense. ANYthing else.

Even though we might not have an elite NFL roster, the difference between an elite NFL roster and a below average one is small enough that we can still win a respectable number of games.

But something has to be done about the offense first.

Good anti-emo post. Time to think ahead…
Looks like the Ravens might be somewhat vulnerable to the pass after Rivers passed for 436 yards against them. Note that Sproles accounted for 124 of those yards and that is something that should inspire the Browns to look to pass more. If the coaches are holding Quinn back in order to prevent him making mistakes, now is the time to let him loose. I’d say running against the Ravens will be somewhat futile so time to break out the screen (as seen against the Titans) and middle crossing routes (how about that new TE or Furry catching a few?). I want to see at least one deep pass attempt this game. Success in the deep game would give Quinn the confidence he needs to settle down and keep the Ravens from cheating up and blitzing every play.
Flacco has looked good but I think we have to shut down the run and force them to rely on the pass. If McGahee rattles off 100+ yards against us I think we can chalk up a loss. Go Browns!

i agree with u about staying positive and would never say anthing about a browns fan being a true fan but for some of us who saw the games all the way back to the 50s whos fathers fathers were browns fans its not just being a real fan. its about cmon now weve sucked for the most part for 50 years. oh yeah im also an indians and cavs fan and beside a few runs that didnt finish in that dept. either you just get sick of always being a loser. we have a great fanbase and enough is enough. we deserve better but as long as we keep the tv on and cashing checks for merchandise that mey never happen. cleveland merch. outsells any other city. hows that for loyal. would u want to be an up and coming or established coach and want to come to cleveland and watch ur carrier die. im not downing anything u said it just hurts man. i agree with u to stay positive but im tired ….. real tired ill never quit but ive been doing this longer th an most have been alive and youll prob. retort to this but in fairness i ask u to do so in 30 years or so and tell me that just once youd like to look forward to more than the draft or next year ……………….keep the faith

According to this the Browns aren’t even top 10.

I assume the Indians are near the bottom, but the Cavs might do quite well because of Lebron.

Yeah I don’t see how that’s possible. How does he think that Cleveland stuff sells out cities like New York and Chicago? Besides the fact that we have less teams we also have far less fans. I would guess that Yankees merchandise sells out Indians and Browns stuff combined (I excluded the Cavs because of the popularity of LeBron — without him the Cavs sell almost nothing).

I can’t believe you removed your mask in public. You’ll never be able to get a quiet meal in a restaurant now, not to mention the threat this brings to your family and friends.

Seriously, though, I like the post . Sometimes we just need to embrace the Paine.
