TIME FOR THE REVOLT...CALLING ALL BROWNS FANS!!
I consider myself a rational man. I also have spent the past 11years as a season ticket holder watching my Beloved Browns crash and burn 9 out of the 11 years.. I have supported them when others around me have left. My friends smirk at me when I told them I would be purchasing tickets this year knowing that I would be throwing my money way.
I stuck up for the Lerner family all this time. Siting everything from being screwed by the NFL, to just plan bad luck. But I think this is it. No I don't want to quit cheering for my team, Or not suport them. I don't think this is an answer. I think what we need is a Revolt... A fan revolt. Its time to call Randy out. We as fans need to organize and show Lerner who the Browns fans are.. And were not taking this second class treatment any more!!!
We were the most powerful fans in the NFL.. hows that? We got a team back faster then any other city in history. We kept the name and colors. We Fought the NFL and won.
How do we do it? Disruption? Voicing our anger in some form. I was looking at the Bengals group site..
http://whodeyrevolution.typepad.com/whodeyrevolution/2008/09/bengals-fan-or.html They have the right idea. If they could do it why can't we?
BTW.. those who think I'm over reacting.. I read this morning that the players have filed 6 Grievances against Mangini in the past week... Sound like a team going in the right direction? No it sounds like a team that has lost faith in there coach.. I know its only 3 games in.. but come on now.. Were going downhill fast and now we swapped qbs?
The team is in turmoil.. This needs to be addressed.. WERE ALL ANGRY.. and TIRED OF LOOSING..
As far as who or what.. I don't know.. I just revert back to the old days with the "JUMP ART" Signs everywhere..
Anyone got any ideas??? Or maybe someone already started something like that .. can I help promote it in some way? I just know its time to come out and SAVE OUR BROWNS.. one more time..

Don’t go to browns games, that would help. If you do…‘bag head’ it or picket outside. At this point a local black out would be a blessing, anyways.

Thank you for your continued interest in our Cleveland Browns. Please be patient with our new head coach as he molds these young men into champions. It won’t be long until our team assumes first place in the Barclays Premier League. On behalf of Eric Mangini and the Browns we thank you for your support. Go Browns.
Sincerely,
Randy Lerner

Why do people hate Lerner for putting money into AVFC? They will bring him more return than the Browns ever will, have every bit as good a fanbase, and play the biggest sport in the world.
Besides, Lerner spending isn’t the problem here.

It’s probably just masked jingoism.
The problems with Lerner are that he has no management skills nor an eye for talent.

Our patience ran out 2 yrs ago…..Quit trading away our rockstar players and get us a real coach. Not some dipshit that gets excited on a 6-3 win. You want to excite us show us more than 2-17 and 23 yards. Were better off going 1-15 to get a good draft pick, even the we would probably trade up…By the Way___pay cribss what he deserves, why piss off the only player that keeps the Browns exciting week in and week out!!!

You could always give your remaining tickets for the year to orphans or kids with cancer, and use the time you normally spend on the Browns doing something to help others. And then, next year, take the money you normally spend on season tickets and donate it (and your Sunday afternoons) to your favorite local charity.

We do need to do something about OUR FOOTBALL TEAM! We as Cleveland Browns Fan’s Deserve soo much better. I have seen pee wee football players play much better than this crap that we have been seeing on TV. This team has so many problems with Coach’s,Offence and Defence as a whole. Who’s starting next week at QB? Mangini is worse than Romeo. This guy and his bunch of idoits that he calls Coach’s need ran out of Cleveland. I think We the fans could do much better play calling than Mangini. I remember back to the late 80’s when the Browns were The Power House of the AFC Central. And with the coaching we have had since 1999 I don’t know if we will ever be a Power House again. I just hope we all get to see the day Our Beloved Browns are back on top and maybe a chance to Win a SuperBowl

With their luck a boycott would just force them to sell the team to Vancouver or Vegas and leave the taxpayer paying for a stadium that doesn’t even have a friggin’ roof on it. We fought for the name, and the poo brown uni’s, and a new stadium WITH NO FRIGGIN’ ROOF ON IT.
Can’t even bring in extra revenue or a Super Bowl without a roof.
Anyways, the issues are right there in front of our face.
I say that Clevelanders buy the team, rename them to the DAWGS (the mean, sniveling, heel-nipping, slobbering, mean kind), and move on.
And no I’m not joking. (I posted a supportive, yet angry rant elsewhere and it never got posted – page 404 error…).
Been a fan for 40 years, and now even though I’m living in San Diego (who has a decent team), I still root for the Clowns every season.
Maybe it’s time for a radical shift in what Cleveland wants and deserves.
Might as well take back the power before it’s too late, and you’re left sweeping up the pieces.

I’m loving the idea of Vancouver getting a team. How random! Also, changing our name to the “DAWGS” would be the most hilariously stupid thing done by anyone. Ever. The whole point of the dawgpound concept was that it was this unofficial thing that our defense started and a group of insane fans picked up on. If anything, I’d like for us to use the little elf guy more often.

I don´t know if you´re serious, but you do have a few valid points there.
If the stygma of the returned but not the same Browns is a factor, you may be right in calling for a new identity. And Dawgs is indeed a pretty cool mascot. The simple Brown helmets do seem a bit spartan in the design sector. I would however not cut myself off from the legacy, because it is rich. I am a firm advocate of saying “this is our time”, while valuing tradition and heredity, we should have our own rules, our own money, our own property, architecture, infrastructure, rituals, ect…our own team. Browns to Dawgs is a huge shift, though. You have to be absolutely certain.
A community owned team is also interesting. Although I do see the need for management and a constituency that can make unpopular decisions if deemed prudent.
One way to approach this, would be to sell shares. A majority share by private citicens, would give Clevelanders some say in the decision making. It would also help the franchise, by making it less arduous to make a profit. I also like the idea of a regional or city quarters representation through athletes, you know counties and districts placing athletes they can identify with, a home component so to speak. I do dig getting athletes from all over the nation, though, makes it more cosmopolitan, and college team supporters can continue supporting athletes they like with the Browns.
Another thought I had in the same vein, would be to form an alternate football team. A team the Browns have to play every year, a team that will face anyone and everyone. The best players from this parallel team could become Browns. You know, something to raise the competitive spirits. They could be called the Dawgs.
I do vote yay, for the Dawgs name change, though.
Keep it up, we live in times where changed realities signal change and resolve.

To call for a revolt, when you´ve been simply supporting the wrong players, is a bad diversion. Mangini is a new head coach, and as such he has not exhausted his ability to surprise. I think he has been very courageous in his roster moves, and entertaining the fan´s wishes, even if they are wrong.
He needs to be stronger in assessing himself as a broken branch from the Patriots coaching tree, I think he is very distinct, and not a Belichik disciple, but his own man. He is very intelligent with an even temper, and he´s the type of guy who can find novel ways to implement what the right people are asking for.
Let him take the new coach, new everything dynamic to fruition, and we will be in the win column within a few more games.

I agree but...
the problem is the players.. who will come in and play for this guy? He is insane with power.
Listen… I backed this guy like the majority of the fans thinking we needed more discipline. But now we have the task master running this team. Its not working.
And no I did not expect a playoff year, but I expected slow steady improvement.. This has been a disaster.
I’m looking into starting some sort of REVOLT site.. were we can get ideas and possibly work on leaning on Lerner. It’s gotta stop.. We’ve taken this to long.. Fix it or sell the team…

i think fans are at times completely delusional over how much anyone cares about their opinion. revolts and protests and things of that sort helped bring a team back to cleveland. that is a rare circumstance. tell me how revolting all of the sudden makes things better? randy lerner wants to win to bring more money to his bank account, through ticket sales, jersey sales, tv coverage, whatever gets him money. he may want the fans to be happy, but feeling like we have anything to do with ANY of his decisions, or that he’ll make major changes within a professional organization because we bitch and whine and say “we’re tired of being losers” is absurd.
additionally, how strong is your argument when you use the detroit lions as your champion of fan revolt. one win in forever is hardly a goal.
by Dawg Nuts on Sep 29, 2009 10:48 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
What in the heck are you talking about? What happened? The Lions won ONE game. It was bound to happen eventually — they weren’t going to go 0-16 again, just like the Browns aren’t going to go 0-16 this season. But if you honestly think that anything the Lions fans did to “revolt” after last season helped them win this past Sunday then you are even more delusional that I thought. Nothing happened. The Lions were going to win a few games this season no matter what the fans in Detroit did.
I root for the Browns because I enjoy watching football and they’re my hometown team, not because I think that my rooting for them has any impact on their success or failure. If I stopped rooting for them tomorrow it would have absolutely no impact on the state of the team. Anyone who thinks their actions as fans can impact the outcomes of their team needs to get a life.

Idiots are the ones waiting around hoping for a change..

Not at all. Although there might be a type of farm system evident through Ohio High School football through the Buckeyes and other Ohio college teams, and potentially on to the Browns and Bengals, that´s not what I´m talking about.
I think a franchise with the history of the Cleveland Browns has enough connections to all colleges in the nation, to procure the best national talent. We weren´t born yesterday, you know.
Could the farm system be implemented, so that we sign the best free agents from the state of Ohio, irrespective of the draft? Probably, but that´s guerilla tactics.
by mooncamping on Sep 30, 2009 4:57 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think a franchise with the history of the Cleveland Browns has enough connections to all colleges in the nation, to procure the best national talent.
Do you have any idea how NFL team aquire talent? At all? Most college talent is aquired by teams through the annual draft, and the history of the Browns has absolutely nothing to do with their draft position. That is where the best college players are selected. Of course, any players who isn’t drafted is a free agent and can sign with any team, but if they didn’t get picked in the seven rounds of the draft then they probably aren’t that good to begin with. So the amount of history the Browns have has absolutely nothing to do with their ability to acquire college talent.
You seem to think that there are these former college football players walking the streets that nobody knows about who could help the Browns. That’s simply perposterous. The Browns aren’t going to win by finding these “hidden talents” — in Ohio or anywhere else — which no other teams knows about. They’re going to build a team by drafting smart and signing free agents to fill in their holes. Every teams has scouts roaming the country looking at football players to help their team, so there aren’t guys roaming the streets who everybody missed that will magically help the Browns get better. That’s just not logical.
Seriously, please stop wasting our time with comments like this. If you have no idea how the NFL works then why are you bothering to post here.

Just because you’re not whining on some website doesn’t mean you’re happy with the Browns the past 10 years. But we try to discuss football intelligently here, and calling for a fan revolt isn’t going to change anything.

Fine, send me your tickets and quit going. I’ve paid to watch to this team quite a bit, but starting some half-brained plan to quit because you think that will make a difference is nothing short of painfully naive.

I never said it did. You need to understand that creating some stupid website isn’t going to have any affect on anyone in the Browns organization. They’re going to do what they think is right whether or not the fans like it (which is what they should do). Believe it or not, they know a heck of a lot more about doing their job than you do.
Also, this current management team had nothing to do with the past 10 seasons so you can’t hold them responsible for what has happened in the past. Trust me — I’m as frustrated as anyone with the Browns’ results this decade. But acting like an idiot isn’t going to help.

We could tap a guy with the Browns organisation, or several, who read and relay to the organisation, anything of interest on the Browns on the web and media.
How about a fan representatives, a type of council to the Browns?
Some respected fans should write letters suggesting something like that.
by mooncamping on Sep 30, 2009 5:00 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, I’m sure the front office is going to be real receptive to fans writing a letter suggesting they can help the team. Since fans are always so well-informed and know so much more about the team than the GM and the coaches do, I’m sure that they will be glad to hear we’re offering our services. After all, every great GM makes his move based on what the fans want him to do. That’s how you win championships.
While you’re at it, why don’t your write a letter to President Obama telling him your ideas about health care reform and the war in Afghanistan. I’m sure he’ll appoint you to a cabinet position immediately. Maybe then you can write GM with your ideas of how to improve their automobiles.

To call for a revolt, etc…., is nuts. You could have Vince Lombardi, Tom Landry and Chuck Noll on this staff and struggle to get a win. The Roster is weak. Besides Joe Thomas, Rogers and Jackson, what players look like pro bowl caliber? Cribbs as a return man maybe, other than that, this team is in need of players.
This is going to take some time, a long time. Mangini is going no where at least for two more years.

Free agents come to a franchise for two essential reasons:
1) Money
2) Opportunity to play.
Liking the coaches is way down on that list. By all reports, Romeo was immensely popular and respected by the players here and elsewhere. How many top-drawer free agents did you see lining up to play for him?

i know it’s an oft-cited comp, but bill belichick had zero super bowl rings (as a head coach) going into NE. he seems to have done ok marshaling respect there.
for the record, belichick was 36-44 as cleveland’s head coach, and went 5-11 in his first year as the pats’ head man. before people get riled up, i’m not suggesting mangini is our belichick (even though we already had one), but out of disaster can come greatness.

Mangini didn’t seem to have problems attracting free agents when he was with the Jets, did he? Do you think he suddenly forgot how to coach when he moved to Cleveland?
Players will respect a coach who wins games. If the Browns win then the respect will come. It’s about wins and losses, not some vague idea of respect of the players (which you don’t even know about, anyways, since I’m sure you’ve never been in the browns locker room or spoken to any Browns player).

He is hated in NFL, MEDIA, AND pretty much the rest of football.. I had hoped he would be able to use the tactic of renegade.. draw his players in with a “its us against the rest of the NFL” But no, he alienated them.. He needs to back off… and fast..

First of all, who cares what the media thinks? Secondly, how do you know Mangini is hated by the rest of the NFL? Once again, if he is so hated by all of his players then why did so many of his former players come here to Cleveland to play for him? You’re just making up things based on absolutely no facts.

And not that the media means anything at all. They like good and bad coaches. They hate good and bad coaches. Who cares? But, to prove how fickle they are- the media dubbed him “Mangenious” after beating the Patriots with what was thought to be a bad Jets team.

by fwembt on Sep 28, 2009 2:52 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
The Ravens quotes after the game indicated the obvious, they are double and triple teaming Braylon, and we have absolutely no one else for them to worry about.
It’s hard to be mad at Braylon for not getting the ball, nor the O coordinator even for not getting him the ball. The entire focus on D is to stop Braylon from catching the ball because literally no one else can do anything.
by Roger Dorn on Sep 28, 2009 2:53 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
good point. Strong evidence that nobody is worried about Cribbs at receiver, much less Furrey. If MoMas and Robiskie are genuinely worse than these guys, then the Browns did waste two draft choices. It’s a long season and there is time for the team to get better. Nobody with any sense of perspective expected this team to be good (though granted we didn’t expect them to be this bad, either). I’m eager to see the new receivers hit the field, and especially someone (Robiskie?) who can run an actual route and perhaps get open at times. The Browns are going to have to establish someone else at receiver, or Braylon has no hope of getting open regularly. What DC in their right mind wouldn’t double or triple him, and dare anyone else to beat you?
by drjeo on Sep 28, 2009 3:18 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Receivers usually take a while to get acclimated to the NFL so it’s much too soon to be worried about MoMass and Robo, but I would like to see those guys get some playing time to see what they can do. It doesn’t matter who we have playing at QB if we don’t have any recievers (outside of Braylon) capable of getting open and scaring the defense.
by Buckeye Brad on Sep 28, 2009 4:32 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Brian Hartline has actually done more at the pro level than Brian Robiskie, and seen much more playing time. Taken at face value that seems inexcusable for our coaching staff. Unless of course Hartline is a better pro WR than Robo, in which case, what were we doing drafting him in the early second round? (But c’mon, does anyone really think that is the case?)
by Simmsinns on Sep 28, 2009 5:07 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Seriously, it’s been THREE games. To say a guy has done “much more at the pro level” than someone else after three games is kinda ridiculous. Especially when said player has a total of 4 catches for 36 yards. That’s not exactly setting the league on fire. So what is your point?
by Buckeye Brad on Sep 28, 2009 5:14 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
"much more at the pro level" =/=
And yes, out of the three games Hartline has seen much more playing time than Robo.
Anyway, my point is: clearly we are struggling at WR if a defense can triple team a currently mediocre WR and not worry about anyone else. So why not give Robiskie some playing time?
(Especially if your down several touchdowns and no one else has done a damn thing.)
Though, I’ll have to admit (it’s obvious, actually) that I’m not to sure either of our QBs could get it to him at this point, and definitely attribute to the bad receiving numbers.
by Simmsinns on Sep 28, 2009 5:37 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Braylon is mediocre because he is being double and triple-teamed. I continue to believe him as an above average wideout.
by Roger Dorn on Sep 28, 2009 5:40 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
In 2007, I would have agreed. But right now our offense as whole is terrible, and taking him down with it. I still highly doubt he’ll ever reach those 2007 numbers again though, barring he doesn’t end up with the Patriots, Colts, or Saints.

You’re missing the point entirely. We’re not happy with the Browns season but we know setting up a “Fan Revolt” website is pointless and a waste of our energy. Whining about how bad the team is accomplishes absolutely nothing. Calling for Lerner to sell the team isn’t going to make him do anything. All that stuff is pointless.
Mangini is not an idiot. He was a head coach for three years with two winning seasons. Rob Ryan is not an idiot. He was a successful defensive coordinator at a team even more dysfunctional than the Browns. Daboll — I don’t know, maybe he is a terrible OC. I guess we’ll find out. But calling our owner and coaches names and posting angry messages about the team isn’t going to help the Browns win any games, so why even bother. If it makes you feel better then please that that stuff somewhere else because we don’t want it here. Go to cleveland.com; I’m sure you’ll get plenty of support there. We want intelligent discussions about what this team needs to do to get better.

Seriously… I was considering applying for the head coach job… I have never coached anything, let alone a football team of any level, but I have 1 thing that all of these hotshot big name coaches don’t have. HEART. I LOVE THE BROWNS! I have been a browns fan ever since I was little. Even when we didn’t have a team… I sported the colors. Sure, I got made fun of, but I didn’t care. That is the kind of drive and determination that this team needs. We all love the Browns, or we wouldn’t be here. We need Head Coaches that give a crap. Maybe then our guys on the field would hold their heads a little higher. We don’t need some gimmicky BS that these flashy new coaches are bringing. We need to get back to basics and put a little heart back into the team. A little “Fan Leadership” maybe…

Why do fans always think they care about winning more than the players and coaches? I don’t get that. It makes no sense. These guys spend 80-100 hours a week practicing, watching film, making game plans, etc., and you don’t think they really care if they win or lose? That is so ignorant. Football is life to these guys. They care more than you can possibly imagine.
The Browns are losing because the other teams have better players than they do. It’s that simple. Players and teams don’t win games because they care more or have more “heart”. I’m tired of hearing idiots whining that the players and coaches need to try harder or have more heart or crap like that.

This must be a point made to all people named Brad when they are born. I swear I spend more time trying to convince people that talent trumps effort than I do working.

What can I say? People named Brad are just naturally smarter than the rest of the world (not to mention better-looking, too).

I am telling you the mass media will jump on anything to pile on the Browns and the organization. It is making me sick.

New Ownership the only chance for improvement
Frankly the current owners can’t afford to compete.

plain and simple we need a QB then everything will fall into place….you gotta think these past 5 years weve played alot of good games! and what we fell short on is a QB we get that and we can contend CONSISTANTLY…we also need to hire Brian Kelly from UC as our coach…or Bill Cowher someone!!! please!!!….heck even promote Rob Ryan to head coach!!!! …this is my 1st post ever here im from Cincinnati born and raised but always been a Browns fan i grew up with the Browns and Reds so my fan base is a bit uncanny but Go Buckeyes as well even though all my teams suck….oh wait this is Ohio everyone hates us lmao and my teams always suck
