Browns Cut CB Corey Ivy, RB Noah Herron
According to the National Football Post, the Cleveland Browns cut CB Corey Ivy and RB Noah Herron.
The release of Ivy is particularly surprising. When Eric Mangini took over the Browns, the team was lacking depth at cornerback, specifically the nickel back position. Corey Ivy, Roderick Hood, and Hank Poteat were brought in to contend for that role, and the team has waived the frontrunners in Ivy and Hood already. This seems to increase the roster odds of DB Gerard Lawson to make the team.
The release of Herron helps the roster odds of FB Charles Ali. The remainder of the cuts should be in later today before the 6 PM deadline.
WR Jordan Norwood, via his Twitter feed, stated yesterday that he was released.
Stay tuned to Dawgs By Nature for all of the latest on the Browns cuts.

The 08 draft was a pile of Sh"
" Of course Steroids should be allowed! I wanna see 700 foot home runs and 90 yard field goals! I litterally want to see someone's d**k get shoved in the dirt!"

Noah Herron doesnt come as a surprise, but Ivy does. Especially after Hood was already cut. However, it does make sense because if Cribbs is gonna be involved in the offense alot more this year, we need to have someone that can return kicks/punts if for some god unforsaken reason Cribbs goes down for an extended period. Lawson performed well in the preseason and showed he can be that guy.
Glad to see Norwood go.
I agree about norwood

Ivy Gone
Was Ivy a part of the trade for Sanchez draft rights? If so the trade is even looking worse as time goes on. As those older Jets get cut and the other Jets like Elam keep playing shitty.
No. Elam was part of that Deal. Ivy played with Baltimore last year.

Right, like Bernie said, Ivy came from the Ravens last year.
To remind you, the Jets deal included Abram Elam, Kenyon Coleman, and Brett Ratliff. Two starters in that mix isn’t too bad, though Elam was basically handed his job without any starting experience.

Still Pissed about Carey
If Davis and Francais pan out, than I am pissed aboiut Carey. A dream 6th round to be compared with all 6th rounds. Oh, well, two great ones would be OK. Remember the 49ers one year when they won the Super Bowl, years ago, started 2 rookie corners and people thought that was good!!!!!!!!
Kokinas Should Run Laps....
…for the Carey thing.
Something really cool!!!!
Go to NFL.com and go stats, rookies, pick any stat you want like tackles.
Miaiva (sic) has like 14, all unassisted. Viakune OK (9 total, 5 unassisted).
For the Packers, Clay III has like one tackle.
The last USE linebacker who went to a Texas team, has like 2 tackles.
So far nice pick of the USE linebackers.
Maualuga has 5 unassisted, 11 total.
USC
Just trying to make small talk til the news hits. USC
Considering Pool’s rate of concussions, what are the odds we try to get Brian Russell back now that the Seahawks have cut him?
I wouldn’t mind it. I think he is better than Sorensen. But I hope someone younger/potentially better will be around.
Personally I was hoping that the Bengals would cut that Nelson kid. They didn’t.
The kid has some game. Plus I really liked him on Hard Knocks. But

Russell
doesn’t know the defense. We need a player from the Mangini Bilickick tree. Or maybe a Romeo branch of the tree qualifies??

Disappointing Browns careers that came to an end:
- Bell
- Hubbard
- Leggett
- Thomas
- Abdullah
- Ivy
I would call Bell and Hubbard disappointing. The others — not really. I never expected much out of Leggett, Thomas, or Abdullah — did we even use a draft pick on any of those guys? If so, it was a very low pick, so I wouldn’t really call them much of a disappointment. I guess Ivy would be one because we signed him this offseason to help us this year and that obviously won’t happen.
Bell is the biggest disappointment. Last year’s draft is looking really bad (outside of Alex Hall and the trades, of course). With both Bell and Rucker looking like crap so far maybe it was good that we fired Savage.
Agreed. My disappointment for Leggett and Thomas were just from watching/reading stuff over the last couple years. It seams like they both showed some flashes and I thought could be productive parts of the team. But, you are right, if you take into consideration how we got them, its tough to be too disappointed.
I forget the circumstances of Abdullah coming over from Denver last year, but I thought he would provide some needed DB depth. Same with Ivy. neither did anything while here, Abdullah in a full year, Ivy in one preseason.
Could be news
about a possible deal tonight. either that or it’s about who starts qb
Chris....maybe 60 means
somebody already got traded. But three of them? No way???
