AND THE STARTING QB FOR YOUR CLEVELAND BROWNS....
will remain a secret.
At least Mangini has made up his mind.
UPDATE: Mangini has now told the QBs about his decision and they took it "professionally". He said the rest of the team will not be told, but will find out (probably because of practice reps). Media is allowed at practice, but only during individual/position drills.
Also, Mangini will not say who the starter at C is. Mack has been getting more reps with the first team according to the cle.com.

As long as he has made a decision, I don’t really care. It is going to kill me from a fantasy football aspect since I have Quinn in one league, and Anderson in another.
I kind of like the idea of telling the media to F off, that they don’t matter.
What kind of leagues are you in, 20 or more teams?!
2009 Prediction: Att - Yds - TD
Jerome Harrison 95 - 532 - 8
One of my leagues starts 2 QBs, the other I took up my last roster spot as a flyer in case Anderson wins the job.
I completely forgot about 2 QB leagues. They are becoming more and more popular, I’m yet to actually play one. I’d definitely see taking Quinn or Anderson as a sleeper in a 10 or more team 2 QB league, assuming we knew the starter, but I see, that is where the dilemma is. And if either put up the even close to the passing numbers the Browns had in 2007, (Edwards isn’t dropping their passes) then they’d be an absolute steal.

I like the 2 QB league because it really can ruin your season if you pick bad QBs. A lot of QB play is random enough as well that it can vary from year to year due to schedule strength. My two QB league is also a keeper league, so unless you have one of the top 5 QBs, you are drafting a complete crap shoot in my opinion. I, unfortunately, do not have one of those 5 QBs, so I took a couple flyers on Carson Palmer and Quinn.
Edwards was 2nd (worst) in the league in drops in 2007. He can be that good and still drop a lot of balls. More than that went wrong in 08.
Very good point. We can only hope to patch those problems up on offense as much as we can, and the potential is still there. Personally, I don’t start looking for sleepers at QB until about Week 2 through Week 4. It’s surprisingly easy to catch the less active players off guard, when gunning for a backup QB.

I hope that he tells the rest of the team, though, so they know who the starter is. And how are they going to split the reps in practice this week? The starter had better be getting most of the reps.
Yeah, the starter reps with the first team offense is the biggest issue. He said he would tell the QBs in separate conversations and that they should both prepare like they are the starter. I’m all for telling the media to F off and confusing the opposition, but at some point that is all secondary to getting your guy and your team ready.
I can’t help but feel when he is “telling the media to F off” he is in turn doing the same to many Browns fans too… but if it really translates into wins then I’m happy. I wonder how much can all this “hush hush” really benefits the team on the field though.

I would assume the starter will be getting starter reps, and the whole team knows. If not, then it is stupid.
Here’s a question (possibly a stupid one) — is practice during the week open to the media? If it is, then I would assume the reporters could see which QB is getting most of the reps and know who’s starting. If it’s closed then I guess that wouldn’t matter.
From what I have gathered, the practices are closed. But someone will let the cat outta the bag. Anyone follow some Browns players on Twitter?

I heard that Mangini said that the starter will not being losing reps with the first team like in camp. So, who ever gets more first team reps should be seen as the starter.

browns bums
I love watching all you Quarterback experts in cleveland sit around and wait to see which bum will be blowing your games for you this year!
Gee do we go with the 6th round draft pick who has failed to truly win the starting job for the last thee years? Or the little pretty boy we traded up in the first round so we could let him sit on the bench and piss off the fans for two years? You guys are in the EXACT same place you were last year! Pathetic.
"It was an attrition football game and you know we like that."
Actually, last year Anderson was coming off of a Pro Bowl season and was not in competition for the starting job. So it was 100% the opposite of last year. Either your memory is pathetic, or your brain is too small to make good analysis.
and how did Anderson start 2007 genius?
Oh yeah I remember, on the bench! And you can thank the Steelers D for showing you how worthless charlie frye was and how worthless your coaching staff was for making that decision. Where are they all now? Oh yeah fired. At least Crennel didn’t get canned that weekend like Frye.
And don’t tell me that Anderson had the job locked up early 2008. There was definitely a competition going on. A majority of you guys never supported Anderson. I read this forum and I remember the posts. And he only lasted until November, getting benched partly because his receivers couldn’t catch his passes. Cleveland coaches just don’t know anything about QBs. Maybe the new ones do, who knows? We’ll find out.
Either your memory is pathetic, or your brain is too small to make good analysis.
What a weak putdown. I know I’m taking the easy route myself rattling the dog cages around here, but it’s fun.
You know what, you are right! I’ll just go ahead and make the decision now because I have the power to do that. Thanks!
This comment doesn’t deserve to be addressed.
More proof that Steelers fans are ignorant.
Just because you don’t understand what I’m saying doesn’t make me ignorant. I understand you must gear any communication to your intended audience, so I’ll make sure to use smaller words next time.

This is what you said. Last year was 2008. Therefore, we are not in the exact same position as last year. Genius.

I was actually mocking your weak putdown, that wasn’t a Roger Dorn original. Let me refresh your memory on what you wrote and see if you can see the similarities.

Why cant you address Rufio’s comment? Are you too much of a winner to?

I knew exactly what you were saying, and it was ignorant.
You know what’s pathetic? A person who has such low self-esteem that he needs to make himself feel better by visiting the website of Browns fans to tell them how terrible their team is and remind them how awesome his team is (as if you yourself has anything to do with that). That’s pathetic. Grow up and get a life.
Seriously, what the heck is wrong with what I said? He comes here to call all of us Browns fan pathetic — what do you expect us to do? How did I make “us” look bad?
And, once again, why am I the only one getting called out?
I support Brad on this
