Cribbs Dismisses Holdout
Cribbs officially shutdown any in-season holdout fears:
"'My decision right now, I'm going to play on Sunday. I don't know what's going to happen (in the contract negotiations), but I don't have concerns about that right now.
'I'm looking forward to playing alongside all these guys. Once I'm in, I'm in. I won't turn my back on these guys. It means a lot for them to be there. It means a lot for me to be there. '"

I don’t know that the comment necessarily means that he won’t hold out. I think what he’s saying is that he’s planning / hoping to make enough progress to not have to hold out and that once he plays, he’s in for the season. I can completely understand his agent’s desire to get some positive signs before the season begins. I also think that Cribbs ins genuine and wants to contribute to the team.
He’s one of the difference makers on this team and I think we need him in order to have success in most of our games this year.
Go Browns!
I love Joshua Cribbs. He is by far my favorite player on this team. To me this just sounds like a player trying to say all the right things while leaving a little wiggle room. In the end I do think he’ll play on opening day but I guess my point was that you can’t read too much into what any player says in the locker room especially when there’s talk of wanting a new contract.
There is no reading into anything here. He just said, straight up and with no doublespeak, that “I’m going to play Sunday”.
Besides, there is no point in him holding out now. He could get a much better contract at the end of this year because he’ll be asking for a contract as a grossly underpaid WR, not just a possibly underpaid kick returner. The reason he wanted a contract so bad before is that he’d never been given a real shot at WR PT. Now that he has that, he can prove how much he’s worth in classical terms. Give credit to Mangini, he’s opened a window for a win-win situation.
