Idaho OL Mike Iupati -- There is not a weakness in Iupati's game when he's lined up at guard. His quick first step, lateral quickness, and long arms make him a dominant force inside, and he is a nasty finisher who is not satisfied until defenders are on their backs. And while he struggled a bit when moved to left tackle during practice, Iupati is stepping up against the higher level of competition and based on what we've seen we have no problem giving him a late-first-round grade as a guard. In fact, he's the best guard prospect we've seen in the last two drafts.

Yea, I don’t see him going in round 2, unfortunately. I would prefer to take best available at number 7 this year, and to trade up from the 2nd round to about where he will be selected would probably involved next year’s first or at least a couple of 2nd rounders. Most of the trades of this sort last season involved that high of picks.
I took a look at the draft value chart last night, and there’s a 300 point difference between our second rounder and the 21st pick. That’d mean our second plus both of our thirds, plus no less than two of our remaining picks. Not worth it.
Our second plus, say, Corey Williams? Definitely worth it.

He’s talented enough a 4-3 team would trade something for him. And who cares when we cut him as long as we do it during the uncapped year? He’d be of equal cap ramification now all the way through May 31, 2011, right?
Yea, should be done during the uncapped year if at all, I would think. I could see a 4-3 team desperate for D-line help go for it, but probably not a great pick in return, and maybe not at all because of his low productiong with us.
Minnesota would do it if Pat Williams retires.
Think of all the money they would save on the Williams Wall merchandise?

I think Hutchinson was 17 in that draft. I’d think he’d go about the same place as Mack did last year, unless some team thinks he’s a sure thing at tackle.

That is what I am thinking. Some team is going to think he is a tackle and take him. Seahawks at 14 or even worse the Steelers at 18.
I thought we had a 50/50 chance to get him in the second, but I am now thinking it is more 15/85.

I guess the question becomes, ‘is he worth trading down from 7 to get?’ I’d say he is, if there aren’t any top tier DBs available at 7.

I think that Iupati is going to be a Pro Bowl RG/RT.
I think personally we will look back in 10 seasons and look at him as one of the ten best players in a loaded draft.
I wouldn’t mind spending the 15th pick on him. I am hoping that San Fran falls in love with a QB that slips to us at seven.
If San Fran offers their first rounders (13 and 16/17) we have to take that deal even if Haden is still there. Maybe Cincy wants Bryant before Oakland has a chance to pick him? Maybe New England falls in love with Haden? NE has three 2nd rounders this year.
I would trade the number 7 pick in the draft for the Pats three second rounders.
We could possibly leave the second round with Dwyer, Spikes, Tate and the best O-Lineman left.
I’m going to stop now.

Like I said in the other thread I’d love to trade down and grab Iupati and take Brandon Ghee or Kyle Wilson later. Much better value and reward than taking Haden that early
