Your top back is nursing and injury and Harrison has been wildly ineffective with the little playing time he has gotten. James Davis represents a spark that this offense desperately needs, especially in the second half.

You’re right, he hasn’t shown anything (or been given the chance to) in a game that counts but he runs hard and fast and can get to the edge. Plus, he can catch it.

It’s hard to be effective when your best OL is either giving up sacks or contributing to a quickly collapsing pocket. It’s hard to say this and not be confused and extremely frustrated but Joe Thomas shoulders a decent portion of this loss.

I agree with out OL performance today. But if you compare the two today, Wallace was much better.

Yikes is right. Looks like when healthy Wallace and Delhomme both bring some tangibles to the table. Weaknesses too, but both are better than last 2 years. McCoy might get a chance, though, if those guys can’t get healthy. Wallace must be really hurt to be worse option than Delhomme there at the end.

Wallace has never won crap compared to Delhomme, though. Delhomme may be, and likely is, past his prime (maybe even past his mediocre), but Wallace has never done anything to be called a winner.

Idk what you guys have seen in Delhomme that you haven’t seen in Wallace that makes anyone think Delhomme is anything other than a back up.

Moisture is the essence of wetness.

by troy145 on Oct 10, 2010 4:00 PM EDT up reply actions

Sure, healthy Wallace > injured Delhomme, and maybe even healthy Delhomme, but that remains to be seen, not a sure thing yet. Doesn’t really matter though, until one is healthy.

by pdxtribefan on Oct 10, 2010 4:02 PM EDT up reply actions

So say Delhomme and Wallace are both 100% come next Sunday. Who do you put in? Im genuinely curious, not trying to be a dick.

Moisture is the essence of wetness.

by troy145 on Oct 10, 2010 4:03 PM EDT up reply actions

I’d probably start Delhomme, but I wouldn’t necessarily expect him to do any better than Wallace. It’s just that for $8 mil, you’ve got to let him burn his bridge all the way down. Then, you make a clean break if necessary. But one half is not enough to make a call on.

by pdxtribefan on Oct 10, 2010 4:05 PM EDT up reply actions

I’ll type slow for you. Wallace could get away from trouble resulting from a bad line because he had a healthy ankle and he is more of a scramblers anyways. Jake is not a scramblers to start with and has a bad ankle – none of which is news – so he can’t make up for poor line play.

by JustBob on Oct 10, 2010 4:00 PM EDT up reply actions

Thats all well and good. Knowing this, Delhomme should not get the start, even when healthy, as he can not move as effectively to avoid the pass rush.

Moisture is the essence of wetness.

by troy145 on Oct 10, 2010 4:02 PM EDT up reply actions

He is the starter because when healthy he makes more and better throws than Wallace, and can even make throws down the sideline. And he doesn’t run out of bounds behind the LoS.
