Week 7 Fantasy Football Discussion

It has become clear to me as I read this blog that nearly every post and game thread gets cluttered with off-topic fantasy football topics.  How about if we start a precedent? One thread, every week, dedicated solely to fantasy football discussion.  Ask advice, complain about your team, negotiate a trade, report on your team's progress, trash talk your DBN opponent, gloat about your impending victory, build up the drama, whatever.  Just do it here.  Please. It will make the rest of the threads a whole lot cleaner and many, many people will thank you.

This is a fan-created post. Dawgs By Nature assumes no responsibility for the content listed.

I really like this idea, as opposed to hijacking every other thread on the front page.

Personally, I don’t have any decisions this week, as every single player on my bench has a bye this week so there is really only one way to play it.

Note to Unofficial DBN Fan League team owners, and anyone interested, there is a breakdown / recap FanPost coming after this week, marking the halfway point. For sure this time. Also, 99% on a playoff preview (after week 14) as well as a season wrap up / champion congrats post at the very end.

Thankfully picking up Hillis has made up for it.

This will be my first fantasy insertion on these boards, just to get things going I’ll throw out a WR question.

I’ve got three possible WR spots in my line up.

My talent, which three would you start?
The first three is my plan, the other three are currently on the bench.

Colston
Gaffney
Manningham
Mike Williams
Steve Johnson
Lance Moore

by Groza on Oct 21, 2010 4:09 PM EDT reply actions

My first instinct was to ask which Mike Williams. My second was that it didn’t matter.

I would laugh if I wasn’t considering starting Tampa Mike Williams this week.

by Bernie19Kosar on Oct 21, 2010 10:40 PM EDT up reply actions

lol Im throwing (sea) mike williams out there. It’s either him or Danario Alexander in my 3 WR slot.

by johnnyphoenix on Oct 23, 2010 1:11 PM EDT up reply actions

Definitely start Colston. even though the targets are inconcistent with that team, the #1 WR burns us and he faces us.

Moore, Manningham, and Johnson I think are getting shut down (Johnson because he’s going up against Baltimore, Moore b/c the browns play the #2 and slot receivers well and Manningham the same reason as Moore).

That leaves Colston, Gaffney, and Mike Williams.

I would say those are a solid 3. the only guy I see possibly breaking for more points is manningham, but I doubt it.

Hernandez.. The Chargers have only given up 5 passing TDs this year, but 3 of them have been to Tight Ends.

by golanbatrac on Oct 21, 2010 5:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Hernandez. the chargers give up almost almost 20 ypg more than baltimore against TEs and baltimore is better at keeping them out of the end zone.

Steve Smith definitely. the one thing our CBs have been able to do is shut down the WR in the slot which is where Moore mostly plays. Even if he does play at the #2 WR spot for plays, Dallas is one of only 2 teams worse than us against opposing #1 WRs.

Steve Smith (NYG) vs. DAL

The Browns are likely to give a big passing touchdown, but it definitely isn’t 100% going to be to Lance Moore.

To anyone in the official DBN league, I need good RB depth, and I’m willing to trade Marques Colston (after this week), Percy Harvin, or any other receiver to get it. I’s also be willing to deal Alex Smith, Matt Cassel (after this week), or the 49ers D.

a couple questions:

4 players for a RB and Flex spot

Fred Jackson
Knowshon Moreno
Ronnie Brown
Johnny Knox

I like Knox’s matchup, but am wary as am I about Knowshon’s health.

Also: John Carlson or Chris Cooley? Cooley would normally be the better option but I dunno coming off the concussion…

[bitching] In the official DBN League, I am second in total points, but only have two wins. I hate it when I see people with way worse teams and worse points with way better records than me. I keep losing by less than 10 points. My team is really strong, but every week, someone I play seems to have their best week of the season. [/ bitching]

I am still excited about my RB’s in the DBN league — Ray Rice, Mendenhall and Forte. I think I benefited from Steelers hatred as I still can’t figure out how Mendenhall fell to the 3rd round. My first three picks were Ray Rice, Roddy White and Mendenhall. It’s hard to do better than that — in my main league, a ten person league, I came nowhere close.

I have a question. I own MJD. His points by week are as follows:
9.68
0.72
7.52
31.40
7.65
5.80

I am thinking that I should go Ryan Torian over MJD this week. This isn’t crazy right? I know many people say “don’t bench your horses” but MJD will have a back-up QB. He is facing 9 men in the box every down.

Someone tell me I’m not making a mistake.

by Bernie19Kosar on Oct 23, 2010 5:30 PM EDT reply actions

I’d go with MJD fairly confidently. Torian faces Chicago’s D which is averages 60 rushing yards against at home. And even with the QB questions, you know he’ll get his touches at least.

Still, go with your gut.
