Week 7 Fantasy Football Discussion
It has become clear to me as I read this blog that nearly every post and game thread gets cluttered with off-topic fantasy football topics. How about if we start a precedent? One thread, every week, dedicated solely to fantasy football discussion. Ask advice, complain about your team, negotiate a trade, report on your team's progress, trash talk your DBN opponent, gloat about your impending victory, build up the drama, whatever. Just do it here. Please. It will make the rest of the threads a whole lot cleaner and many, many people will thank you.
This is a fan-created post. Dawgs By Nature assumes no responsibility for the content listed.

I really like this idea, as opposed to hijacking every other thread on the front page.
Personally, I don’t have any decisions this week, as every single player on my bench has a bye this week so there is really only one way to play it.
Note to Unofficial DBN Fan League team owners, and anyone interested, there is a breakdown / recap FanPost coming after this week, marking the halfway point. For sure this time. Also, 99% on a playoff preview (after week 14) as well as a season wrap up / champion congrats post at the very end.

This will be my first fantasy insertion on these boards, just to get things going I’ll throw out a WR question.
I’ve got three possible WR spots in my line up.
My talent, which three would you start?
The first three is my plan, the other three are currently on the bench.
Colston
Gaffney
Manningham
Mike Williams
Steve Johnson
Lance Moore
My first instinct was to ask which Mike Williams. My second was that it didn’t matter.

I would laugh if I wasn’t considering starting Tampa Mike Williams this week.
by Bernie19Kosar on Oct 21, 2010 10:40 PM EDT up reply actions
lol Im throwing (sea) mike williams out there. It’s either him or Danario Alexander in my 3 WR slot.
by johnnyphoenix on Oct 23, 2010 1:11 PM EDT up reply actions
Definitely start Colston. even though the targets are inconcistent with that team, the #1 WR burns us and he faces us.
Moore, Manningham, and Johnson I think are getting shut down (Johnson because he’s going up against Baltimore, Moore b/c the browns play the #2 and slot receivers well and Manningham the same reason as Moore).
That leaves Colston, Gaffney, and Mike Williams.
I would say those are a solid 3. the only guy I see possibly breaking for more points is manningham, but I doubt it.

Hernandez.. The Chargers have only given up 5 passing TDs this year, but 3 of them have been to Tight Ends.

Hernandez. the chargers give up almost almost 20 ypg more than baltimore against TEs and baltimore is better at keeping them out of the end zone.
Steve Smith definitely. the one thing our CBs have been able to do is shut down the WR in the slot which is where Moore mostly plays. Even if he does play at the #2 WR spot for plays, Dallas is one of only 2 teams worse than us against opposing #1 WRs.

Like Golan says, SD cannot cover TE’s.
Go Hernandez. The Pats love to use him downfield.

i’d play just about anyone against SD, the way they’ve been playing.

To anyone in the official DBN league, I need good RB depth, and I’m willing to trade Marques Colston (after this week), Percy Harvin, or any other receiver to get it. I’s also be willing to deal Alex Smith, Matt Cassel (after this week), or the 49ers D.

Bad week for me for trades. I’ve got Arian Foster, Ladanian Tomlinson, Reggie Wayne, and the Jets Defense on a bye and Desean Jackson injured. I’m gettin’ killed this week by Chris, for sure.

I’d be more than happy to make a swap after this week. I doubt you’d give up foster, but I wouldn’t mind grabbing LT.

Great idea.
I need two from M. Bush v. Denver, R. Brown v. Pitt, and F. Jones v. NYG. Yes, I know those are some garbage options.
Michael Bush and Felix Jones. Pitts defense is just solid this year.

probably right.
how is michael bush doing anyway? he’s involved a trade i got offered.

a couple questions:
4 players for a RB and Flex spot
Fred Jackson
Knowshon Moreno
Ronnie Brown
Johnny Knox
I like Knox’s matchup, but am wary as am I about Knowshon’s health.
Also: John Carlson or Chris Cooley? Cooley would normally be the better option but I dunno coming off the concussion…

[bitching] In the official DBN League, I am second in total points, but only have two wins. I hate it when I see people with way worse teams and worse points with way better records than me. I keep losing by less than 10 points. My team is really strong, but every week, someone I play seems to have their best week of the season. [/ bitching]

To get the point across, I have over a hundred more points than anyone in my division, and yet I am 3rd out of 4.

And Dorn is leading your division with the lowest point total in the division (and the 3rd lowest total in the league). That’s crazy.

Haha correct. I feel kind of guilty, but then at the same time my team has been really good the last 2 weeks and looks a lot better than it did at the start of the season. Highest score this past week and rounding it into shape with some pickups.

I was so excited about my RB’s coming into the season (Shonne Greene, Ryan Mathews and Jonathan Stewart).
Needless to say, they suck.

You had some crazy bad luck. I thought you had the best or near best draft in the league.

i’m really debating whether to ride it out with Schuab, or trade him away… perhaps to get Vick….
(we start two qb’s… i have Orton, and just picked up Cassel)

Shonne Greene, Ryan Mathews
Two guys that were completely unproven which can always come back to bite you. Still, I panicked after my draft and traded Miles Austin for Ryan Mathews. It hurts.

Mathews is killing me too. SD is relying too much on Rivers right now and the team fell apart. The fans here are extremely pissed. See ya Norv.

I am still excited about my RB’s in the DBN league — Ray Rice, Mendenhall and Forte. I think I benefited from Steelers hatred as I still can’t figure out how Mendenhall fell to the 3rd round. My first three picks were Ray Rice, Roddy White and Mendenhall. It’s hard to do better than that — in my main league, a ten person league, I came nowhere close.

I have a question. I own MJD. His points by week are as follows:
9.68
0.72
7.52
31.40
7.65
5.80
I am thinking that I should go Ryan Torian over MJD this week. This isn’t crazy right? I know many people say “don’t bench your horses” but MJD will have a back-up QB. He is facing 9 men in the box every down.
Someone tell me I’m not making a mistake.
I’d go with MJD fairly confidently. Torian faces Chicago’s D which is averages 60 rushing yards against at home. And even with the QB questions, you know he’ll get his touches at least.
Still, go with your gut.

My gut would say go with Torian, and it’s a pretty big gut. I wouldn’t argue with it.
Fooootball has been beary beary good to me.
I don’t know if anyone cares, but Torian and MJD earned just about the same amount of points.
Hopefully MJD gets the memo and plays hard for the rest of the season.

So are there any other devastated Dallas Clark owner out there? He’s one of those TE’s that, if you drafted, you can’t afford to go without. Now my TE options are Aaron Hernandez and Heath Miller, massive downgrade :(.

Jason Avant (Phi) vs. Tennessee
OR
Donald Driver (GB) vs. Minnesota
OR
Steve Breaston (Ari) vs. Seattle
I think Avant might wind up with a big day. Driver scares me against Minnesota and has been battling a leg injury. Seattle’s pass D is bad but Breaston just came back after 4 weeks and has Max Hall throwing to him for the first time.
Thoughts?

Hernandez with 0 points. Blah.
I am down by 5. I still have Aaron Rodgers, Miles Austin, and Steve Smith to play. The guy I’m playing has Dez Bryant only. Hopefully he doesn’t have a big game and I can get a win.
Well Tony Romo’s injury has really screwed Miles Austin’s production for tonight. 14 yards and 1 point. Thankfully Steve Smith showed up and I already had a substantial lead.
Thank God that I had a huge lead. The guy I’m playing had Dez Bryant, who exploded for 23 points. I won by 9.
I should note that my DBN team sucks.
Big ones.
