Alex Mack Weighs In On James Harrison's Performance
" If you watch the game film, (Harrison) was doing that to everyone on every play. People would be on the ground and he would try to spear them. There's a play on film where Peyton Hillis is tackled and he comes up and spears him. It's like you're being cheap, you're being dirty."

Love it. It’s good to have a player on the team that speaks his mind and doesn’t try to be overly PC.

Does anyone have the game film that can show this hit Mack is talking about? I’d be interested in seeing that gif.
It was a perfect storm of a dirty player, a coach that encourages and defends dirty play, and a crew that ref´d to the theme song of 3 blind mice. After that performance, I definitely rate Harrison far dirtier than Hines Ward. Hines´ dirtiness tends to be a vicious block to an unsuspecting WR – but usually in the shoulder/back region. Lets hope the NFL took some of the wind from their sails. Not so much with the fine, but by ripping that ref crew a new one. The game was much safer with a flag on Cribbs, and an expulsion on MoMass.

Anyone going to comment or start a trend on the video statement the NFL released to the teams?
I thought it was extremely well done. And a lot of Browns highlights.

I don’t know what you’re talking about, but if you could post it that’d be awesome.

The NFL sent a safety video to every team. Three of the nine plays on the video involved Browns players (Ward’s hit on Shipley, Kendrick Lewis’ hit on Evan Moore, and Harrison’s hit on Massaquoi).

Vikings punter Chris Kluwe’s take on the video is hilarious:
Dawgs by Nature -- where Hitler, apparently, 'did some good things'.
Kluwe didn’t take credit, he just took the pic.
It’s still accurate and hilarious though.

I’m pretty sure he did it, as his tweet says:
Got to watch an exciting video from the NFL today on illegal hits. ‘Someone’ drew a diagram to explain it.implying he did, and the drawing involves a punter.

i thought the video was great, and it sure as hell seems like players can still inflict an awful lot of pain by hitting w/in the modified (although they’re not really modified) hitting rules. the hue and cry from the players is a whole bunch of nothing. this won’t change the game, defense, or fan excitement one iota.
that said, i’m still not sure how the dunta robinson hit was illegal. it looked an awful lot like the ray lewis hit on keller … except jackson had to be helped off the field. was it b/c robinson’s helmet made contact w/ jackson?

I think it’s the idea that he launched himself regardless. Also, that if the NFL didn’t fine him in this weekend of hits, there would’ve been a hell storm of backlash and more hypocritical speech.

I agree that Desean Jackson’s was the least egregious, but it was illegal because the helmets collided which makes it a helmet to helmet. the hit on shipley wasn’t terrible but was helmet to helmet.
I agree what SB says about the fines.

your whole argument is a fallacy!
I hate Ray Lewis, but that was a nice hit.

The reason Robinson’s hit was illegal was because at the last second, he lowers his head.
Pure reaction in my mind, but illegal none the less.

I’m not sure either of that one. It was very close to Ray’s hit. I think Dunta came in just a bit high by how the league is determining these hits though.

Quick! Somebody give that guy a concussion – he is speaking with a little too much reason and logic…
Thanks for the link. We need more guys like him. I really think the game of football will still be popular without those hits (even if defensive players have to dial back the aggression). It’s a beautiful game, in spite of the Adam Schefters of the world.
