Cabot: Joshua Cribbs Had Four Dislocated Toes
"WR Josh Cribbs dislocated all of the toes on his right foot except the big toe, source told the Plain Dealer."
Anyone have any idea how long this type of injury might keep a guy out?

Ouch. One dislocated toe would be enough, but four?

I am not a doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night – and I think it is better to have the 4 other toes dislocated and not the big toe – than the big toe dislocated and the other 4 ok. Of course I have no clue if this is correct or not.

I also believe this to be the case.
When you get a big toe injury it affects your ability to get a strong forward push with your foot.
An injury to the other toes is more likely to affect lateral movement.
Yeah I’ve dislocated my big toe numerous times…you essentially cant walk. Sucks.

This wasn’t a joke. Mesko is Hungarian but grew up in Romania, so when I saw he mentioned from Budapest, I was wondering if he idolized Zoltan Mesko. Or maybe Zoltan is a common Hungarian name.
A common Hungarian name
He is etnichally a Hungarian; just born in Roamnia (long historical story…)

If Cribbs is out there making plays next week that will be awesome. It’s easy to discount a toe injury just because the anatomy in question seems so small. But it can have a big effect on performance.

You actually don’t need any other toes but the big toe to run/walk. It controls your balance. The joints will be loose and swollen but he can have them treated (ice, meds, therapy) all week and immobilized and they should be good to go for Sunday. Of course I say this without seeing them so it’s a shot in the dark. I have some limited medical background so this is my barely educated opinion. Plus you have to throw in the fact it’s Cribbs and he is super human so he may be running wind sprints right now for all we know.

The only bad thing about dislocations is that once you’ve had one, it’s that much easier to dislocate the same joint/s again in the future. So this may be somewhat of a hinderance down the road, especially if he comes back to play too soon after the initial dislocation.
I’ve heard that, especially from some martial arts types who have done this with toes repeatedly. (That and my physical therapists must have told me this a dozen times after I dislocated a kneecap.) Apparently they tape up toes to help avoid further injuries, but that wasn’t football of course….

No word on Fujita yet? His absence was/is almost as deflating as Josh . . .
