Meaning if they still hadn’t seen enough to think he is better than Ventrone or Sorensen, he probably doesn’t have a lot of hope.
he was a fifth round pick after all.

I was going to mention him in a fanpost I was going to write up in the next week. I have caught some UFL games online and I was going to mention him on my list of young players who were bright spots in the UFL season. He showed solid coverage skills and good, active hands.
The problem for UFL for scouting for future prospects is that most of them are either Veterans (like Culpepper, Rattay) or guys who are getting close to 30 and are lighting it up, but are those “lower level stars” who light it up in the Arena Leagues or the UFL but can’t make an NFL roster (Francies teammates in the Locomotives D-Backfield, Isiah Trufant and Wade Dada, Come to mind)

your whole argument is a fallacy!
PLEASE TAKE VENTRONE OFF THE FIELD FOR NON-SPECIAL TEAMS.

Do other teams have these DB problems? It seems like every year we have to watch a Nick Sorenson, Mike Furrey or Ray Ventrone play in the secondary. Are other teams that much deeper at DB?

No, we just don’t know who their equivalents of Ventrone and Sorenson are.

I think our lack of depth is just a reflection on not having consistently good drafts. Even Savage hit on some of the high picks, but I think our lack of depth is a reflection on the later rounds of his drafts. He found some nice players in the late rounds (Harrison, Vickers, Rubin, etc.) but not enough backup-level DBs.

Boy wouldn’t we like to have Harrison now

Do you really think Harrison would be playing like he is now if he were still with the Browns? He’d given up on the organization. If we still had Harrison, he would look like Mike Bell and we’d be whining about how terrible and unmotivated he looks.
