Why Shawn Lauvao Isn't Playing
Eric Mangini on why OL Shawn Lauvao hasn't cracked lineup: "To this point, the other guys have played better than him."
Ouch. That's not exactly encouraging for the rookie's future, is it?

Different rookies have different learning curves. This is a guy who was a LT who had also played RT, and from what I’ve heard also LG. Being asked to play RG in the NFL after all that is a tough gig.
That being said, it’s a bad day when your coach says you’re playing worse than St. Clair.

He doesn’t play RT in the NFL St. Clair’s play does not apply.
Also, while the 5 positions on the line do require different duties, it should not be difficult to know all of them. While only High School, I was the utility lineman on my team. I knew every play for every position on the line.

Blocking is blocking. There are technique differences and different things you have to know/be able to do, but when it comes down to it if you do your job and block the guy you are supposed to, that gets it done.

How does having more experience in flexibility hurt him?
I met a fairy today that granted me one wish. "I want to live forever," I said. "Sorry" said the fairy, "I'm not allowed to grant wishes like that!"
"Fine" I said, "I want to die after the Browns win the Super Bowl !"
"You crafty bastard," said the fairy.

yep. He never played the interior of the line. Different responsibilities. I will be worried if this is still an issue next season. He is a midround rookie, I am not too worried. there is only one guy drafted to be a guard who has played more. That is John Jerry in Miami but they have no one behind him. Porkchop is a servicable player and honestly, he has played this year better than Jerry (I know Jerry is a rookie, but just pointing out he would be a backup here). Even Asamoah who was touted as a possible late 1st-early 2nd round Guard has only started one game.
I teach good life choices. That’s why I almost didn’t graduate High School.
Intensive Purposes? I could care less...
your whole argument is a fallacy!

Is there really any way he could be worse than St. Clair? Good Lord, he must just be terrible

Once again, he’s not a RT, so I don’t think he’s comparing him to St. Clair. Lauvao doesn’t seem big enough to be a tackle, even though he should be able to play all positions.
