I mean, Colt has looked fine other than the INTs. And he missed a TD pass. But I’m still happy with him at QB.

by bross09 on Dec 26, 2010 5:25 PM EST up reply actions

First of all, those things are not frivolous, the demeanor of your leader affects the entire team, but there are plenty of other reasons not to like him, including that fact that he is stubborn about personnel and too conservative in his game planning a lot of times, especially when playing weaker opponents.

He is not a bad coach, I just don’t think he will ever be a super bowl winning coach. I may be wrong, and I hope I am.

by HenryDawg on Dec 27, 2010 11:48 AM EST up reply actions

the notion that the way a coach acts on the sideline affect the team’s play is entirely speculative.

including that fact that he is stubborn about personnel

first, how do we know this for a fact other than rumors? Second, he doesn’t have complete personnel control anyways.

and too conservative in his game planning a lot of times, especially when playing weaker opponents.

How much of this is him and how much of it is Daboll? we can’t really know. It would be fair to give him at least a chance to work with a competent OC. I am inclined to believe with a competent OC, his gameplanning would be much better. I don’t know how much input he had in NY, but I believe Schotty had significant input. If we put in a Gil Haskell and the offensive gameplannign still looks conservative, then there may be a problem.

3 weeks ago we were discussing possible playoff scenarios; now we’re firing the coach and saying we have no talent? which is it? we all need to relax. we’ve had injuries and we’re playing good teams. good teams overcome that; we’re marginal, so we can’t yet. mangini is doing the right things, as frustrating as it has been the last few weeks. give him time to build.

I hope that happens.

But I’m forseeing sufficient turnover oin our front 7 that improving might be a real ask.

Welcome Joe!

The last three games were awful. We played two bad teams and one good team and we never had a realistic shot at winning them. I never bought the playoff hype but I was expecting to win at least one of these games. This team is regressing.

THIS

I totally agree with all of this.

the team turns the ball over 4 times including 3 INTs by the QB. a couple of questionable calls and a poorly executed onside kick (from the kicker) and this could cost the coach his job.
