Info on Peyton Hillis
I'm really liking Hillis the more I look into him. Going by this video from youtube, if anyone can verify please do, he seems like a steal to me. His 4.58 forty time matches that of Dexter McCluster and he would of tied the max reps for running backs this year. I'm really liking this guy, and I think we may have gotten what people thought Toby Gerhart would of been. As I said before I think this is a steal.

From a Denver perspective
Those highlights were all from 2008. He was injured against Kansas City and was done for the year. Last year he was given very few chances and did very little with them. He’s a great guy, Arkansas country boy, a fan favorite in Denver, but not with the new coaching staff. He gets the tough extra yards, and has good hands and would do well paired up with a faster, smaller RB. He may end up being a very good pickup but he was already considered gone so most Broncos fans are sad to see him go but happy with the trade.
well…40 time isn’t everything. I think McCluster would beat him in a footrace. however, I think he has the same physical skills as gerhart, plus he has soft hands (whereas there are questions about gerhart’s hands). people talked about us possibly going after a guy like gerhart. honestly, if you put Hillis in gerhart’s position, he racks up some great numbers too. he was always underused and was more of a power back but was called upon to be the fullback for Felix Jones and McFadden. he excelled at blocking and excelled at running and catching the ball. I feel that gerhart might eventually need to learn how to block (when he was called upon to do it, he wasn’t that good). They are similar in that they are the RB/FB tweener. He is in a lot of ways like gerhart, except I think he could honestly be a better player…plus he costs much less.
I don’t think gerhart is a RB/FB tweener. I think thats something people say because he’s a white power runner. I think he’s a running back. He ran a 4.53 at the combine, which is about average for running backs and put him 7th at the combine at the position.

Technically he ran a 4.58.
I only say he is a tweener b/c he is like Mike Alstott in that he could play both. I think hillis could be a great true RB but he played FB in denver and in Arkansas. through these teams, he developed into a good blocker. so he is a power running back who can block.
I teach good life choices. That’s why I almost didn’t graduate High School.
He is definitely a runner for this team, maybe a Brandon Jacobs type of talent. I think he could also flex into an H-back a little bit or a few other things because he has soft hands and the west coast offense likes to work its fullback into the passing game.
If the right side of the line gets fixed up nicely watch out for this teams running attack.
Vickers is an animal of a lead blocker and the Browns will always have fresh legs in there with three backs.

Ive liked Hillis since I discovered him in 2008 as a fantasy waiver wire pick up, he ran really well that year. So glad we got him. Denver is stupid for not wanting to utilize his talents.
I think he’s over-hyped. He basically ran well behind a Denver line that would allow Mooncamping to have 1000 in 16 games. He basically ran through gaping holes….kinda just like Gerhart

Hillis will be your x-factor...
Great pick-up for your team. Solid performer (when healthy), and hard-worker. I think this trade benefits The Browns moreso than The Broncos. I am, however, happy with our QB situation now…as long as we cut Simms immeditely.

yeah, I wonder how much pull that kid had to have from his dad to get in this league. From what I’ve seen of him, he really isn’t even a good backup QB
Simms...
is a joke! The worst QB ever to wear the Broncos uniform. Cannot stand his pop, and cannot stand him. CUT HIM!
I think McD can groom Brady to be a star. At least we will respect him in Denver. I think he was mis-handled badly in Cleveland. He never really got his “shot”.

Good luck to Josh McD on “grooming” him, he’ll need it!

It seemed dubious to me at first, because he was a demi-god to the Broncos in 08. But he´s been a consistent performer out of Arkansas and never slowed down in the NFL.
For the older guys if you liked Ground Chuck in the 80´s, he could be our John L. Williams. Who do you suggest should be our Curt Warner? Thomas Jones would have filled the mold, James Davis is a great fundamentally sound halfback but has no burst, who do you think can dance in and out of Hillis´s footsteps?

well..you have a bunch of picks
I think Holmgren will go after a tailback early in the draft. Hillis will then open up holes for your new star.

…I was banned from Mile High report for the following comment: “I have no more use for this site”, which was in response to MHR “elitists” constant negativity…followed by sheepish followers concurring with everything they said. The banhammer was immediately dropped, with the response “no use for this site, fine with me”
The other two of the trifecta are San Diego and Chicago, ’nuff said.

That I did, I was very impressed with how he got players that basically nobody has heard of to really step up their games at the end of the season. I was rooting for him to stay for that reason. Granted we played underachieving teams, but the overall play from the starters was sssoooo much better. The players were responding to him.

Can anyone else believe how talented that Arkansas backfield was in 2006? Peyton Hillis, Darren McFadden, and Felix Jones…wow.
yep. technically Hillis was recruited to be a power back but played fullback because of the talent on that team.
Hillis
CAN be a tailback, and perform. He is best used as a short-yardage Fullback, though. He’s a beast at the goal-line, and a great receiver out of the backfield. Again, great pick-up for Cleveland, in my opinion.

I got excited when I saw this post because I thought it was actually going to be information on Hillis. Is anyone else bothered by the fact that no one has interviewed Hillis or anything? (I’m speaking specifically of the PD). They seemed preoccupied with Brady being gone that they totally neglected the part where we got a new player. I would love to know some facts about him and his thoughts on coming to Cleveland. I’m pretty disappointed that I have yet to see that about a week after the trade.
Also this is my first comment.
Hello everyone.
Welcome QBB!
I’d like to see an interview with Hillis as well; he’s an intriguing player. Still, I can’t get too worked up over it. We’ve certainly had an interesting couple of weeks in these parts, which a lot going on to try to cover….

Hey QBB. My guess is the PD thinks quarterbacks are marketable while fullbacks aren’t. It would make some sense for them to get some info on him at some point though, considering they won’t have a whole lot to write about during the offseason.
"Statistics are like bikinis. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital." - Aaron Levenstein
Rufio, I totally agree with the idea of marketability of quarterbacks and that’s kind of my point. We traded away the most marketable quarterback we’ve had since returning to the league, it would be nice to know some information on the guy we got in return. In no way am I trying to start a debate on whether or not Quinn should have been traded- all I’m saying is that it’s disappointing to see everyone so obsessed with a former player and not curious to know more about the new one(s).
