I don’t know why anyone would give Jackson big bucks. They shouldn’t break the bank for him.

Inside linebackers in general don’t deserve big bucks. Jackson is a fine player, but one that should not be overpaid.

by Roger Dorn on Mar 3, 2010 11:14 PM EST up reply actions

Someone should let DQ know this.

He thinks he is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

by Bernie19Kosar on Mar 3, 2010 11:27 PM EST up reply actions

Not liking the tone of his public outcry. I’d be comfortable with them playing hardball.

Brady Quinn will never be a good quarterback for the Browns.

I’d be fine with stringing him out, this tweet pissed me off.

"Spartans never die Jorge. They're just missing in action."

by SpecialBrownie on Mar 4, 2010 7:42 AM EST up reply actions

His agent’s remarks were out of place as well. Don’t any of these guys know how to negotiate?

by Monsters of the Midway on Mar 4, 2010 8:10 AM EST up reply actions

This is how Cribbs’ agents negotiated, and it seems to have worked for them. That’s probably why this happened and will for a while

by mich_n_trum84 on Mar 4, 2010 12:50 PM EST up reply actions

I don’t really agree with that. Cribbs didn’t get a new contract right away; the team is negotiating with him just like they would have without all of the talking from Cribbs and his agent. I don’t see what good it did him.

by Buckeye Brad on Mar 4, 2010 1:02 PM EST up reply actions

I see what you’re saying, but at the time Cribbs spoke up he was being told he had the final offer from the Browns. So, it could appear to the other players that it was effective…..then again I could be totally wrong

by mich_n_trum84 on Mar 4, 2010 6:29 PM EST up reply actions

The team says they never told Cribbs their offer was a “final” offer.

by Buckeye Brad on Mar 4, 2010 7:11 PM EST up reply actions

true, but Cribbs agent was telling Cribbs and Bruce Drennan on ABAO that he was given a final offer by Aponte ( i know she’s not with the team now, but she was then). I’m just saying it could appear that it was effective. That’s all

by mich_n_trum84 on Mar 4, 2010 8:51 PM EST up reply actions

Agents are lying douchebags.

See Boras, Scott and Rosenhaus, Drew.

by Bernie19Kosar on Mar 4, 2010 10:24 PM EST up reply actions

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think I read somewhere that he and Cribbs have the same agent.

Every player goes through this in their career. Then they learn that this is a business.

by homerun21 on Mar 4, 2010 12:34 AM EST reply actions

Don’t have a link for this yet, but Matt Roth received the 2nd round tender from the Browns. Should be enough to keep him here for at least another year.

by Roger Dorn on Mar 4, 2010 9:08 AM EST reply actions

When the Browns signed him I was scratching my head, but after watching him play, he is one guy I definitely want to keep.

by JustBob on Mar 4, 2010 5:51 PM EST up reply actions

He´s free to go with a second round tender, I´d say. He´s a third or even fourth rounder as a Brown under inclusion of prospects we´ve sighted, coming in the round is negligible as we allow players to play up to standard in the NFL, going out sorry.

by mooncamping on Mar 4, 2010 9:31 AM EST reply actions

Ok, I feel like a creep here. But, I´ll put it to you straight. D´Qwell is limber but not fast. He has a nose for the ball, and he´ll lower the boom.
He is not prototypical for an inside linebacker. A prototypical linebacker is a squat, stout, 6foot1 maximum height, preferably 5´11, 230 lbs, with thin quick little legs to move him around like a little crab, sideways, forwards, backwards, bam, bam, bam. It´s a crab ram, with a reverse gear.
He´s not prototypical inside, and outside he´s plain too slow for a high speed game. Now if you´re resigned to average, he´s a nice jack of all trades, his proportions let him pass as inside or outside. Is he outstanding at either? No.

Get Bo Ruud back, and you have a nice set of versatile linebackers.

I love the fact that you still cited Bo Ruud.

I love the fact that he thinks MLB’s HAVE to be small and thin-legged.

They to be if they want to “crab ram.”

by gahnki on Mar 4, 2010 3:25 PM EST up reply actions

Recced cause “crab ram” made me laugh.

I just love it when athletes complain about their salaries.

by emily522 on Mar 4, 2010 11:33 AM EST reply actions

The sarc was kind of implied. no one loves this stuff, and the people that do aren’t as intelligent as you or some of the other people here.

by bross09 on Mar 4, 2010 12:57 PM EST up reply actions

It’s so endearing.

Brady Quinn will never be a good quarterback for the Browns.

by danvail on Mar 4, 2010 11:51 AM EST up reply actions

If D’Qwell Jackson leaves Cleveland (which I’m not opposed to, honestly), what do you think that will do for our draft needs? Is DB still our top need to be addressed with the #7 pick? I’d say if Jackson is gone then ILB would be really high on my list of needs…
