Ok Heckert, just sign this guy to a contract. He won’t command huge money, would love to play in Cleveland, and any chance that he becomes a decent NFL starter is worth a 5th rounder. Bring him into the fold, it really can’t hurt.

If the Ratbirds are willing to take a 5th rounder, I like this idea a lot. It’s fairly low risk with a potentially large upside.

Ravens would match an offer from us - unless it was a ridiculous offer that you are not going to see Holmgren/Heckert do. There is no way they are going to let a guy who knows the ins and outs of their offense go to a division rival. Our d would have a huge advantage over them in our two games.

That’s my feeling. Why would the Ravens just let us have a viable QB for a 5th? Unless they know he isn’t a viable QB.

I’d be pleased even if the result is that we drive the price of Smith upward and they have to pay it. This is a situation that we just can’t lose being involved.
