We ONLY play 1:00 games on Sunday. No Thurs/Sun night/Monday night games. In fact, we never go further West than K.C. this year.

In fact, we don’t even go to KC, they come here. We don’t go further west than New Orleans, although we do play two games in FL.

Debating whether Miami in early December or New Orleans in late October will be my road trip; leaning towards Miami.
You are reading my signature.
You could do worse than Miami in December, for sure.
by DisplacedBuckeye on Apr 20, 2010 7:09 PM EDT up reply actions
exactly my intent. Was hoping for those two or Tampa to be in November through December, and we were in New Orleans for a wedding 18 months ago, so Miami’s the leading candidate for a long weekend getaway.
You are reading my signature.
Just remember, you can never visit New Orleans enough.

Damn it 1:00, that means I have to stop drinking earlier on Saturday to be up by 10:00 for the games on the West coast.

If Big Ben is suspended for four games as many people believe, his first game back will be in Pittsburgh against the Browns.
That’s good. He won’t have any on field experience till he plays us.
Rusty and poor communication with an old idiot receiver and two untested WRs.
I’ll take that match up any day.

My first thought as well. Next 5 games after those before our Bye, though, are pretty brutal. @ Balt, @ Pit, @ NO, and home games against Cincy and Atlanta.
by DisplacedBuckeye on Apr 20, 2010 7:10 PM EDT up reply actions
not at all. Both teams were worse than us last year and are very beatable. I could see that happening. we could even be 3-1 but then we hit a brutal stretch of some terribly brutal away games. We would be pretty lucky to be 3-4 at the bye week…and then after the bye we get the jets and pats. I see 7 wins as being the Max for this schedule in all likelihood. I predict with this schedule, 6-10

Brutal.
Not to sound like a douche, but editing your posts before you submit them is always a good idea. Editing and condensing would be well appreciated.

I read it actually and didn’t see it. sometimes even if you read something you don’t always see it…
sorry I don’t write sentences well…does that piss you off?
I teach good life choices. That’s why I almost didn’t graduate High School.
No, I’m just saying that there seems to be a lot of frustration about your posts. I’ll be the first to say that I get frustrated because I read through your (numerous) posts and I see the same idea written over and over again – nothing that editing and revising can’t cure.
You have some really good ideas, but the length of the posts and how they seemingly come out unfiltered takes away from what you’re trying to say.
Example: this post is relatively short, but took me a good 10 minutes to finish because I read it over a few times and found things that I could have said better and more concisely.

I have tried recently to shorten some posts and proofread more.
sorry I don’t always write the most concise sentences…honestly, this isn’t english class man. I give an effort but its still the internet, and personally, I could care less what you think of the quality of my writing. I give an effort and I don’t feel it is a good use of my time to spend 10 minutes on a short post like that making it concise.
I teach good life choices. That’s why I almost didn’t graduate High School.
I’m not trying to be the grammar police, what I am getting at is that you have good things to say and while I can’t speak for everyone, I would imagine that many people would take your posts far more seriously if it appeared that you cared about how your points come across.

I do care more often than I did before. However, rarely would i care enough to spend 10 minutes correcting every grammar mistakes like the one you originally pointed out (which i didn’t even catch after reading it over once or twice). you know, I am making an effort but I am not brilliant at grammar so I will not catch everything.

I think it is more that you state the same point over and over but in different manners throughout the same thread.
If you have something new to add, try not to regurgitate what you have already written beforehand.

and when people do it to me, it is completely okay? how about you call every single person who calls me out in the same way, often times in an unnecessary way, and show this isn’t a double standard.

dude, you’re really barking up the wrong tree here. you may not remember but when you first got here i was the only one stepping up to defend you. I’ve been much more patient with you than everyone else and I’m the first one to point out when someone is using a double standard.

I meant for my comments to be about the substance of your posts, not the grammar. I used the original “brutal” statement as an intro to the idea that the users here expect thoughtful comments (this is why DBN is so amazing), and that maybe you weren’t doing this to the best of your abilities. It took on a life of its own, and for that, I apologize.
When I say editing, I’m really asking you to make sure that you’re re-reading your posts and you’re checking to see that you’re not simply saying the same thing in a different way. Read each post through an objective lens, as if you were another DBN user, and see if it makes sense and isn’t so frustrating to read that you quit halfway through.
Like I said, you really do have good ideas and valid arguments, but the way that you convey those is just as important as the ideas and the arguments themselves.
Truce?

Looking quickly, it looks like they’re REALLY steering away from last year’s terrible teams: TB, Detroit, STL, Seattle, Oakland, and Cleveland all have no primetime games.

Not to crap on the Browns, but that is the smart move.
There were some horrid primetime games last season.

That Browns-Ravens Monday night game was pathetic. I’m not surprised they didn’t want the Browns anywhere near Monday night this year.

Yea, I cant blame the NFL at all, the Browns had some of the lowest rated national games in history
by The Licensed Pessimist on Apr 21, 2010 1:10 PM EDT up reply actions
And when we start performing at the level of those teams, then the NFL will reward us with that many primetime games. I can’t say that I’m even remotely surprised that we didn’t get a primetime game this year. It’ll make it easier for us to slip under the radar, though. I don’t mind one bit.

I plan to be in Cleveland in January. How good would it be watching the Browns play Pittsburgh at home?
Cold…but oh so sweet if we get a win.
Incrediby wishful scenario here, but how about beating the Steelers at home to win the division with the two wild card spots already locked up. Simultaneously clinching a playoff spot and knocking them out…bliss.

Guess I won’t be able to see many games if we’re not winning. Only get 7 Sunday games and the Browns are sort of like the first team to black out if necessary.

Since they aren’t traveling west (again), I’ll have to wait until 2011 to see another game in person.
I considered making a joke that you’d only have to wait until the playoffs, but then I remembered that such a game would be in 2011.

Hope Bengals do stink or no Browns in Cowtown
All Bengals CBS games at 1:00 PM so unless they stink up the joint there will be many schedule clashes on WBNS 10tv except when Browns play the Bengals

It’s only April, and I’m already pissed at WBNS.

The more Pittsburgh prime time games the better for me. The more 1:00 clashes with Browns, the more I get to watch a rapist on t.v. while I have to imagine the Browns game through the radio…

I won’t be watching every game this year since I’ll be in college, not at home.
But over breaks I’ll be able to watch and I plan to come home some weekends to see big games like the Steelers game. And the Carolina game will be televised here.

Depends on the state. In Cali, if you are not 21, you cannot enter the bar at all. Haven’t been to SC, so I don’t know what their laws are.
and in NY, you can work in a bar and serve drinks before you can even legally drink in canada (drinking age is 19 in canada, and you can be a bartender in NY at 18).

in some parts of canada the drinking age is 18

In Manitoba, Alberta, and Quebec. however, the vast majority it is 19. I have never been to canada outside of british columbia or Ontario. that is where most of the major cities and things to do in canada are anyways…When I go to canada I think of the drinking age being 19 because I pretty much always go to ontario

same. although if my experience is any indication, in toronto the drinking age might as well be 18. i didn’t get carded once.
I also highly recommend the Beer Bistro. its pricey, but every dish is somehow prepared with beer and they have a beer list as thick as a novel. I recommend the beer-marinated bacon rapped shrimp.

sounds nice…now that I think about it, I might go up to canada this weekend…but I would probably only go to the falls and not toronto. Yeah, you usually don’t get carded in canada so it may as well be just looking at least 17-18, but the official one is 19.
