We ONLY play 1:00 games on Sunday. No Thurs/Sun night/Monday night games. In fact, we never go further West than K.C. this year.

In fact, we don’t even go to KC, they come here. We don’t go further west than New Orleans, although we do play two games in FL.

You could do worse than Miami in December, for sure.

by DisplacedBuckeye on Apr 20, 2010 7:09 PM EDT up reply actions

exactly my intent. Was hoping for those two or Tampa to be in November through December, and we were in New Orleans for a wedding 18 months ago, so Miami’s the leading candidate for a long weekend getaway.

Rusty and poor communication with an old idiot receiver and two untested WRs.

Am I drunk to think we could be 2-0 after the first two weeks?

by Bernie19Kosar on Apr 20, 2010 7:09 PM EDT reply actions

My first thought as well. Next 5 games after those before our Bye, though, are pretty brutal. @ Balt, @ Pit, @ NO, and home games against Cincy and Atlanta.

by DisplacedBuckeye on Apr 20, 2010 7:10 PM EDT up reply actions

not at all. Both teams were worse than us last year and are very beatable. I could see that happening. we could even be 3-1 but then we hit a brutal stretch of some terribly brutal away games. We would be pretty lucky to be 3-4 at the bye week…and then after the bye we get the jets and pats. I see 7 wins as being the Max for this schedule in all likelihood. I predict with this schedule, 6-10

No, I’m just saying that there seems to be a lot of frustration about your posts. I’ll be the first to say that I get frustrated because I read through your (numerous) posts and I see the same idea written over and over again – nothing that editing and revising can’t cure.

You have some really good ideas, but the length of the posts and how they seemingly come out unfiltered takes away from what you’re trying to say.

Example: this post is relatively short, but took me a good 10 minutes to finish because I read it over a few times and found things that I could have said better and more concisely.

I have tried recently to shorten some posts and proofread more.

sorry I don’t always write the most concise sentences…honestly, this isn’t english class man. I give an effort but its still the internet, and personally, I could care less what you think of the quality of my writing. I give an effort and I don’t feel it is a good use of my time to spend 10 minutes on a short post like that making it concise.

I teach good life choices. That’s why I almost didn’t graduate High School.

by bross09 on Apr 21, 2010 12:05 AM EDT up reply actions

I’m not trying to be the grammar police, what I am getting at is that you have good things to say and while I can’t speak for everyone, I would imagine that many people would take your posts far more seriously if it appeared that you cared about how your points come across.

I do care more often than I did before. I meant for my comments to be about the substance of your posts, not the grammar. I used the original “brutal” statement as an intro to the idea that the users here expect thoughtful comments (this is why DBN is so amazing), and that maybe you weren’t doing this to the best of your abilities. It took on a life of its own, and for that, I apologize.

When I say editing, I’m really asking you to make sure that you’re re-reading your posts and you’re checking to see that you’re not simply saying the same thing in a different way. Read each post through an objective lens, as if you were another DBN user, and see if it makes sense and isn’t so frustrating to read that you quit halfway through.

Like I said, you really do have good ideas and valid arguments, but the way that you convey those is just as important as the ideas and the arguments themselves.

Truce?
