Browns Playing Tough with Dawson
Pro Football Talk is saying the Browns are blowing off Dawson. Doesn't sound like he is going to win this one.
Here's some info on Suisham. Journeyman.

He’s a kicker. Kickers are in a perpetual state of non-leverage.

Which is ironic considering the leverage a kicker actually possesses.

I don’t think he’ll actually walk until he hits FA.
I really could care less if he holds out for training camp.

He’s probably just hoping for some extra coin and getting a little extra rest on his legs.

Nobody wants to admit it but having a good kicker wins more games than people want to give them credit for. Dawson is one of the freak kickers that gets better with age. Sometimes its better to swallow the pride and sign the guy.
Also, all the RFAs are going to threaten a hold out because they’re probably going to be screwed next year

I will admit it: kickers win you games.
The problem is that at the NFL level, there is a huge supply of kickers, and the added production that Dawson will bring you over the next guy isn’t all that big of a deal.
In college, there are far more teams that need kickers, and far fewer quality kickers available, which means having a good one is much more important there.
In the NFL, the VORP just isn’t that big.

I wanted to dump him 2 years ago. But he’s clutch as hell. We should keep him till he’s 40. Who needs 56 yard field goals?
Who will be my role model, now that my role model is gone?

strangely though his range has been getting longer. by the time he’s 40, he could be launching 60 yd bombs
