Robaire Smith Charged for Loaded Gun in Airport
I didn't put the wrong person's name in the headline: apparently, Browns DE Robaire Smith was charged for having a loaded gun in his luggage that he "forgot about" last November at Bishop Airport.
When Rogers had a gun that he "forgot about" in April, Smith was traveling with him that day. What's with these guys?

A few articles regarding Smith state that the league has already disciplined him…so since a suspension wasn’t announced, I’m wondering if that’s actually true. If Smith doesn’t get a suspension, then why should Rogers?

sort of, if you look at the actual text of the second amendment, it seems pretty clear the founders were saying people had the right to keep and bear arms so that in time of need a militia could be raised, not so that you could conceal a handgun in a grocery store:
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
To be perfectly clear, I’m not necessarily against concealed carry laws, but they aren’t strictly protected by the constitution.
I hate the steelers the way a mother loves a child.
To me keep and bear means own and carry, or wield if you will.

Let’s invite Shaun Rogers and Robaire Smith over to DBN for a gun control debate!

To me it means being able to hang on to the arms of a bear.

Indeed. I do kind of like their style, though.

but according to the constitution, you only have the right to own a weapon so that you can form a militia, not so that you can carry an AK into Wal-Mart.
I hate the steelers the way a mother loves a child.
I don’t think I’m clearly stating this. The constitution doesn’t prohibit owning a weapon for any purpose, and it doesn’t explicitly say forming a militia is the only reason to own a gun. But it implies that the only reason you have a right to keep and bear arms is because a well regulated militia is necessary.
I hate the steelers the way a mother loves a child.
I’m not talking about carrying an AK into a Wal-Mart.

ok, then it doesn’t exist so you can carry a nine into a wal-mart.

but to also add to this as a counter argument, they deliberately put a comma there. it was not grammatically necessary if this was all one thought or idea…however they added it to, many believe, show that they are 2 different ideas in the same sentence.
I teach good life choices. That’s why I almost didn’t graduate High School.
I’m having trouble reading that as one statement. The first portion acts as an introductory element, thus necessitating the comma. Perhaps it’s a form of revolutionary-era grammar, or perhaps outdated linguistics, but I can’t imagine anyone reading that as a single thought.
Art Modell gives me a hard one
think of it like this:
“The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed because it is necessary to have a well regulated militia.”
think of the comma as a sort of “because” or “therefore.”
I’m not sure if there is a misunderstanding about this, but I feel like I should point it out anyway: Militia is not synonymous with army. a militia is just civilians with guns, who are not professional soldiers and are only called upon during emergencies. So you can see, if the right to bear arms was taken away, the ability to raise a militia would be severely hindered.

I like the conspiracy theory in the linked article, where Rogers takes the fall for Smith’s second strike, if only because it makes for only ONE real idiot on the team.

Technically, it is an opinion piece, so “agenda” is the reason it exists.
It has an opportunity of being extremely funny for Browns fans, though. Last year I started a folder in my browser called “Taking Names and Keeping Score” – this is going to the top. As a Browns fan, nothing would please me more than a Browns championship with Mangini as coach (and played on Miami).
The national media writers and reporters were ruthless in their Mangini bashing. His success would be sweet: As the Klingon saying goes, “vengeance is a dish best served cold”.

Yea, it had the feeling of a Glenn Beck chalk talk. In the end, the best part of Glenn Beck is watching John Stewart and Stephen Colbert make light of him. It’s what I look forward to with the Browns.

the amount of times he called Mangini “The Secret” or totally ignored facts in order to create a narrative was striking.

seriously though, if you paid attention at all last year you know that article is at best ill-informed, inflammatory journalism, and at worst purposely misleading.
do you think its good journalism to continuously refer to an NFL coach derisively as “the secret”?

His overuse of “The Secret.”
He slams Mangini’s personality while praising McDaniels and ignoring his questionable actions. The fact that his facts aren’t facts but opinion with little basis in reality and even less support.
