Cabot: Browns Sign 2nd Round Pick, RB Montario Hardesty

According to Mary Kay Cabot, the Cleveland Browns have signed second-round pick Montario Hardesty to a four-year deal. Hardesty is expected to split some playing time with RB Jerome Harrison this season after an "impressive" minicamp.

We'll update this post if more details are released regarding the terms of his contract. With Hardesty signed, that just leaves first-round cornerback Joe Haden and second-round safety T.J. Ward as the team's only unsigned rookies.

He received a $1 million signing bonus, a $572,750 one-timer clause and a $10,000 workout bonus.

Must have been a good workout. Wonder what Joe Thomas’s workout bonus is?

Its gonna be interesting to see who makes the team at RB. Harrison and Hardesty are locks, but wat about Davis, Jennings, and Hillis? Hillis is more of a FB, but we have Vickers at FB and he is one of the best in the league. Maybe we go with 2 like we did a few years back with Ali…

by kjc on Jul 26, 2010 5:07 PM EDT reply actions

I’d say Hillis is a lock because of his versatility. Davis and Jennings may be fighting for one spot. Davis probably has the slight edge, but it is has to be very slight.

I really see those two as the guys who don’t provide something unique.

Davis is somewhat of an unknown quantity in terms of actual game experience. Sure he had a nice pre-season last year but Jennings displayed a determined, shifty running style during the end of season win streak.

by Les Fleurs Du Mal on Jul 27, 2010 10:38 AM EDT up reply actions

Still, neither provide anything special, and neither provide something the rest of our backs lack. Harrison is much more “shifty” than Jennings or Davis. Hardesty is as big/bigger but faster with better vision.

Jennings provided nothing much better than anything a guy picked up off the waiver wire could give us. I don’t think he is that much more special than a Kevin Jones or an Adrian Peterson (who are both free agents…and that is not the Peterson you would first think of)

Aboslutely great new for the Browns.Let’s see how he does in training camp.

And TJ Ward is signed. Haden is probably going to be a lot tougher to get signed — thanks to Al Davis.

No. Steve Mcqueen is a serious actor. I’m surprised you haven’t heard of him. Google him…(just a suggestion)

Go tell someone over the age of 40 that Steve McQueen isn’t a serious actor and see what kind of reaction you get.

I seriously have no clue who he is. The only actor I recognize in the previews was the dude who is sitting on his couch watching MLB with MLB stars.

He is the one who is not a serious actor.

btw, sorry i started all of this. I guess SB didn’t get the joke. Steve Mcqueen is obviously not in that movie because he’s been dead for almost 30 years. However, his grandson is in the movie…also named Steve McQueen.
