Almost There, Waiting on the First Win

With one monkey off the back, it’s time to shrug the next one.  The Browns finally scored in the second half.  Seneca Wallace showed that he could lead a team and score points.  The Browns hung into this game longer than I expected.  I was impressed when the lead changed in the second half.  I wish that the defense had stepped up on pulled out a stop.  The thing that impressed me the most was the fact that Hillis was able to run all over the Baltimore Ravens defense.

As requested by Rufio, I have compiled that data from the first 3 weeks in each season, 2009 and 2010 respectfully.  Last year the Browns played the Ravens on week 3 and this was the infamous Brady Quinn benching for the outstanding Derek Anderson.  This year there is a bit more stability and the Browns have more offense.  Speaking of the offense, the Browns were the first team to score a touchdown on the Ravens defense (moral victory I guess).

2009 Season

Score (PF-PA)

29-95

45-57

Offensive Yards

Passing Yards

Rushing Yards

Def  Yards (Average)

332.5 YPG

So the stats indicate that everything is moving in the right direction, but the season in the win-loss column is the same.  The stat that stands out to me the most is the PF-PA.  The team is scoring and I believe that is a credit to sticking with the coaching staff.  The players that were on the team last year know what to expect and the new ones can be taught by the veterans.  With a new competitive edge to the team I feel like they can pull out an upset win in one of the upcoming games.  My hope is the Steelers, a welcome back to Big Ben.

Think Eric Wright will be right in the head for the matchup this Sunday where T.O., Ochocinco and the emerging Jordan Shipley will be very familiar with the Ravens “snuff” film?

Those stats are certainly good news. It just sucks that it takes so much time to turn a team around. We have also been VERY competitive in these opening 3 game losses. I think this team is one big momentum swing away from making a win streak start.

Obviously these stats don’t tell the whole story, but it is nice to see the improvement, even if it doesn’t show in the record.

I have been complimented many times and they always embarrass me; I always feel that they have not said enough.

What a wondefull thing to be able to get hyped up for the Sunday game and at least know that the game wont make you wanna got start your lawnmower, turn it on its side and hurl your head into the blades…lol. I was very pleased with the defense and the offense showed signs..loved watching the Vickers / Hillis combo…i think that could be a nice thing to watch for a while. We need Josh to reestablish himself as a threat..teams are starting to kick to him and he isn’t giving them a reason not too. we are only 3 games in but im just saying. One of the greatest things about last year is it seemed like most of our drives started on the 35 or better…of course they usually ended on the 36. Go Browns…

I started to laugh at this, but the memory brought back too many tears.
