Blount to replace Hardesty?
As a Browns fan in Oregon, I got the pleasure to watch LaGarette Blount's power and speed at the University of Oregon. If he hadnt used the power in his right cross, he would have been a first round back NO DOUBT. He runs like Hardesty without the knee problems and since Tennessee has released him, NOW is the time to get a first round talent for next to nothing. Yes, he has a temper, but we NEED THAT FIRE on our team, and no nonsense guys like Holmgren and Mangini would reign him in.....thoughts?

heeeeeeck no.
We started to turn this ship around by having team players with good heads on their shoulders. That is the total opposite of what Blount is.

You might say… the Bucs beat us to the punch!
Ok, that was weak.

Where’s my unusually long body hook?
Hm.
I can't believe Cribbs was considered the second best athlete in Cleveland.

I like Blount a lot, but as golan said, that ship sailed (to Tampa). I doubt we put a waiver claim on him, but even if we had, Tampa was ahead of us.

No doubt? Really?
He didn’t even start when he came back. Doesn’t seem like a sure first pick.

This is very false.
The only reason anyone ever knew about Blount in the first place was because he through a right hook.

That’s not true at all. He ran for 1002 yards on only 137 carries his junior year (that’s a nice 7.2 YPC) with 17 TD’s. He was thought of as one of the top RB’s in the country coming in to his senior season. Now, I’m not sure where he was on NFL draft boards so I can’t say that he would have been a certain first round pick had he not gotten in trouble, but it’s wrong to say that nobody heard of him before he threw that punch. Maybe you didn’t, but plenty of people did.

Saying “plenty of people did” does not change my view of this in the slightest.

Well, it would certainly make that statement false.

I think it was a stretch that he was a first round lock, but he was mentioned as a guy with talent prior to him jacking that guy in the face.
Blount would have had to have run pretty well to go in the first, IMO. He is huge but has had weight issues along with the attitude issues (before the punch) and he never seemed to have the power he should at that size. Mix in some peoples’ views of the Oregon offense and I don’t think he goes in the first unless he ran like Jonathan Stewart.

Admittedly, I never heard of him prior to “The Punch” but I do recall analysts (ESPN) referring to him as a top RB, but when he did that and missed games his Sr season b/c of it his stock dropped…..I think he was lucky enough to get back on the team, never mind not starting……definitely is a hard runner and was kinda surprised the Titans let him go, instead of using him as a change of pace back complimenting CJ
