I’d say Ryan Mallet, but there’s no way he’d let a pound of coke out of his grubby hands.

He’s moved onto that harder stuff; only black tar heroin based jokes can get him to laugh these days.

11 tweets in 28 minutes isn’t hard to do when you are getting fed quotes by the walrus. Now 28 tweets in 11 minutes and I would wonder if she met Ryan mallet recently

call me crazy, but doesn’t an OC call plays?

Some NFL teams have an OC but still have a different play caller.

how the shit did holmgren let shurmur start out as the OC, anyway? frustrating.

Doesn’t Andy Reid also call his own plays?

there are like 15 tweets in a row in MKC’s feed that are holmgren quotes. very interesting and very much worth a full read.
#Browns Holmgren on McCoy: "let’s let him play and see how performs and we’ll evaluate it at end of year.’’
#Browns Holmgren not opposed to switching qbs every year until he gets it right. "You have to find that person.’’

just the OC comment and one about letting heckert and shurmur do all the press stuff with holmgren staying in the background

Yeah, it’s not like we are talking Head Coaches here.
by Bernie19Kosar on Oct 21, 2011 12:28 PM EDT up reply actions
That is some good news on the OC.
I never liked the idea of Shurmur taking so much responsibility right out of the box.
I don’t think any one here liked it when we were told that was his plan.

Well, some do and can do. But Shurmur is way to fresh for the task.

in general, i can stomach shurmur being the primary play caller, but he can’t be the head coach and head coach of the offense.
by DontCallMeJoey on Oct 20, 2011 3:09 PM EDT up reply actions
I was a little skeptical, but it seems pretty clear now that Shurmur is in over his head (not saying he can’t make it as a HC, just that he needs and OC).
Go, I say go away boy, you bother me.
by burntorangeandbrown on Oct 20, 2011 3:15 PM EDT up reply actions
I think that means he’s not tall enough to be a prototypical HC/OC.

His YPA for throwing the challenge flag is an abysmal 4.2 yds. Not good enough for this league. You’ve gotta bomb that little red bastard out there if you want to get noticed.

It’d be nice if Holmgren coached and made Shurmur his OC.
by chitown browns fan on Oct 20, 2011 10:33 PM EDT reply actions
Before the Shurmur hire (and after it was looking like none of the “big name” candidates was going to come to Cleveland), I was suggesting that Holmgren should find a really good OC (Shurmur / whoever), step in as HC for a year to groom/mentor him, then hand him the reigns.
Go, I say go away boy, you bother me.
by burntorangeandbrown on Oct 21, 2011 8:55 AM EDT up reply actions
Yeah, I was thinking this same thing ex post facto. Problem is, it would be a demotion now and not mentoring.
