Ask Field Gulls and stuff.
Hello Cleveland fans, it's RagingAlot from Field Gulls, the Seahawks SBN site.
We really don't know a lot about each other, so here are some stuff about Seahawks:
- Earl Thomas is a stud.
- We are a young team which will experience growing pains.
- FEAR THE WHITEHURST
- Ask some other knowledgeable Hawk fan about the Seahawks.
I guess we can argue about who shall win this week, which SBN site is better (Your Green with Envy section is cool), why you guys hate the subject line, why Jim Mora Jr is a douche etc.
This is a fan-created post. Dawgs By Nature assumes no responsibility for the content listed.

I just don’t get the point of the subject line. IT makes threads hard to read, and it doesn’t really serve a purpose. Most of the time it just breaks up the first sentence of the comment, which is dumb. The only time the subject line is useful is to collapse a large image.

We have really large threads
So when comments get flagged the subject line comes in handy for the mods who oversee us.
I respect your opinion even though it's wrong.
As a mod I don’t think that makes sense. If a comment get flagged it turns red for the mod. They’re very obvious. I don’t know how the subject line makes them easier to find.

Well whaddaya know.
Still there’s another reason why we use it. I can’t remember but images and gifs (which we have a lot of) is a big reason we use the SL because if it’s not collapsed then the thread bogs down.
I respect your opinion even though it's wrong.
Like I said, we use it for that too, just not normal comments.
Which reminds me. You are still using the subject line.

with the hawk being a wonderfully majestic animal near the top of the food chain, the city of seattle must’ve thought long and hard of an icon that would represent their prowess of speed and strength as well as distinguish them amongst the other avian counterparts in the NFL, showing they can “soar higher” than their rivals, etc etc.
why does your blog demean its fanship by relating itself to that of scavenging gulls akin to ravens and other ratbirds?

He's Tim Ruskell's worst mistake ever.
Getting rid of Holmgren almost felt like a must because Seattle needed to move on (mostly from our fullback draws and no shotgun), but he managed to pick the worst possible alternative.

Dude he’s gone now so let it go.
And besides who else could he have drafted at #4 without reaching? Crabtree is a talented flake and Sanchez is god damn terrible.
The entire top 10 class of 2008 looks sub-par. Raji and this non-injured version of Stafford exempt.
Then I can go further down the list and Aaron Maybin is much much worse than Curry. Knowshawn Moreno isn’t good.

Let go what? You’re saying hiring Jim Mora was Tim Ruskell’s worst mistake. I disagree and say that drafting Aaron Curry was. And an OLB in the top 5 was the biggest reach in that draft. I didn’t want Maybin or Moreno, Ruskell did.

Is that supposed to an insult or something? Of course I bashed the pick from day one and was completely right to do so, seeing as how he’s become arguably the biggest bust in Seahawks historoy. I was mocked for calling Curry the worst Seahawks pick since Lamar King, and it only took a couple years for him to show he was a far bigger bust.

How’s the QB situation going over there? It looks not so awesome, though we are not in a position to brag.
Dawgs By Nature: Where we REALLY love belt buckles.
In my view, Whitehurst looks to be better
Taller in the pocket (Jackson can’t help that) and even last year he didn’t make nearly the mind-numbing retarded decisions that Jackson has already done this year.
Basically it sucks. If Seattle is 4-12 or 5-11 bad then they have to draft a QB. Anything else that isn’t a trade for a good QB in his prime (like Phillip Rivers) and Carroll and Schneider should be on the hot seat immediately, and I like them so far.
I respect your opinion even though it's wrong.
So are you guys like, platooning them, or is there just general indecision about who to start?
Dawgs By Nature: Where we REALLY love belt buckles.
Chances are both of them aren't good enough to be long-term NFL starters
But I’m hoping WHitehurst shows something so we have another Hasselbeck. Remember Matt wasn’t really a full starter until 28 and peaked at 31.
I respect your opinion even though it's wrong.

We didn't give up all that much for him.
A 3rd round pick and a swap of 2nd rounders is not a heavy price for a potential QB of the future. I would certainly prefer Whitehurst over giving up the exorbitant haul Arizona did for Kevin Kolb. Plus, I’m a big Charlie fan and think he can be a quality starter.

It’s a pretty heavy price for a guy who had never played any downs of regular season football and for a guy that you then don’t even bother trying to start for the next two seasons. It was a very odd trade.

I like Pete Caroll even though at first I hated the hire
Good coach, good at motivating his players, don’t like some of his game-management decisions. We seem to always blow timeouts due to personnel issues and that whole end-of-game thing against Atlanta where we kicked a 61 yarder instead of going for it on 4th down with a timeout left was annoying.
LeBron would own if he were wide receiver. At least until the Super Bowl and then he freezes up.

Nope. Without Peyton manning, that team struggles to compete.
The Cavs last year not only lost Lebron, but Jamison (injury), Shaq, Varejao, and mo (he regressed, then was traded). Imagine if the Colts had to start 5 curtis painter-eque players (talent-wise) on their offense. Thats what the Cavs were like with Ryan Hollins and Alonzo Gee

Shaq is past it, Mo Williams is inconsistent, so it’s basically Varejao and Jamison.

He gave us roughly the same amount of service as Unger has so far, and was a decent lineman who struggled with injuries. Mebane might be better than a declining Bernard but let’s pretend as if Mebane is some elite DT. He’s a quality starter who is good at stopping the run and average against the pass. Bryant was looking like a bust at DT until Carroll moved him to DE. Tubbs was not a Holmgren pick.

Cribbs. Bodden.
Savage was pretty good at it, but I feel like that is all he tried to do in the draft after the 1st round. The problem with doing that is that no matter how good you are, you are going to get a lot of crap. Savage never used the 3rd, 4th, 5th rounds to just get serviceable players. He was always looking for the huge value — eg Martin Rucker or that receiver who never panned out in the 3rd round or even Charlie Frye to some degree.

i’ve heard a similar type of thing about the excess responsibility of wearing 2 hats, but i also heard from a very reliable seahawks source that holmgren and paul allen’s guy (was it whitsitt?) loathed one another and whitsitt staged a power play and clipped walrus’ wings to make sure holmgren knew who was really in charge.
i’m glad to hear that he netted some great players, b/c if you believe some of the deadthought coverage of his history you’d think he was “fired” as GM for being shitty at it.

From my recollection, Holmgren was hired in 1999 with full personnel power along with head coaching duties. Following a series of picks that didn’t pan out, he had his GM power stripped of him and given to Bob Whitsitt, an associate of Allen’s. Whitsitt made some decent picks but did not get along with Holmgren. Eventually, Allen relented and fired Whitsitt at Holmgren’s behest, and was then replaced by the dumbass known as Tim Ruskell. It was by and large Holmgren’s Seahawks team that went to the Super Bowl in 2005.

not trying to be rude, but you seem like a win-a-game, lose-a-game team.
how did you feel about making the playoffs at 7-9?
i mean, it’s the playoffs…. but you (i think deservedly) took a lot of heat for your losing record (i understand we can’t throw stones here…)

A giant screw you to the rest of the NFL. Was especially pleased to see 10-6 Giants and Bucs miss out on the playoffs. Analysts were really squirming. I’d rather go to the playoffs at 7-9 than miss out with a winning record every time.

The Dead is definitely an acquired taste. When I was a kid my best friend’s cousin was their road manager – had every single album. He didn’t really have any other music so between the ages of around 8 til my early teens he’d play their albums over at his house when we hung out at his place. Eventually grew on me.
He and another friend and I took a trip to California when I was 17 and stayed with his cousin (was still the Dead’s road mgr.). Met Bob Weir (lead singer along with Jerry Garcia), who took us to a concert in the San Fran. area. Been a fan for life ever since.

I think it had more to do with you telling the mod to STFU when he asked you nicely to follow the FG site rules. There are plenty of DBN commenters in that thread not using the subject line and I don’t think they ran into any trouble.

HAHA My banning got turned into a warning.
Someone there has some sense. You sir are the one that put words in my mouth. We were asked to use the SL and I said "no thanks". You turned it in to me telling, whoever it was, to STFU. That wasn’t me, that was you. You put ideas in their heads. And I’ll say it right now, I’m not using that stupid subject line.
My warning basically said "I don’t care about your values. Use the subject line". You guys are insane.

I think we’ve been trying to be a little more relaxed with you guys, knowing that your community uses different rules.
I like the look of the subject line but don’t care too much if anyone uses a subject line at FG. I was just trying to help you out stay on the right side of the mods. I don’t always agree with the mods and they can come down hard for seemingly minor infractions. That said, telling the mod, directly, that you’re going to make a conscious effort to defy his rules is usually a bad idea.
